Chapter 825 Sebastian's Gentleness
Scott treated Teddy to the best food and drinks, hoping to get on his good side. Once they were close, Scott planned to clear his name from the last misunderstanding.
So, he took Teddy to the police station, determined to show Marigold that his previous arrest was a mistake.
"Teddy, we've had a good time, right? Can you help me out a bit later?" Scott said, holding Teddy up.
As they entered the station, the officer on duty recognized Teddy immediately. "This kid again?" he thought.
Scott walked in and headed left. The officer pointed to the right, "Hey, you're going the wrong way. Mr. Chase is over there."
Scott rolled his eyes, "I'm not here to see Sebastian."
Marigold was busy at her desk, sorting through missing person cases and making calls. Suddenly, someone called out, "Marigold, someone's here to see you."
Marigold was puzzled. Who could it be? She got up and saw Scott holding a child outside.
She quickly put down her work and hurried to the reception area. "What are you doing here?" she asked in a low voice.
Scott held up Teddy, "Look, my godson Teddy. I'm here to tell you that last time was a misunderstanding. Teddy is with me, and he's very well-behaved. See?"
Teddy looked at Scott and offered him a cookie, a great honor in his little world.
Marigold had seen Teddy once before when Molly brought him in. This time, she got a closer look. "You came all the way here for this? I'm really busy."
She turned to leave, but Scott grabbed her arm. "Don't go. I haven't finished talking. Why can't I find your rental information? Where are you living now?"
Marigold glanced around the busy lobby and at her colleagues passing by, noticing their curious looks.
"Marigold, is this your friend?" one of them asked.
Marigold nodded awkwardly.
She whispered to Scott, "It's none of your business. You need to leave."
Scott threatened, "Let me in, or I'll tell everyone about our relationship."
Marigold clenched her fists, "Fine, come in."
As Marigold led Scott and Teddy inside, a colleague commented, "Wow, Marigold, who's this? He's handsome."
Without turning around, Marigold replied, "You've met him before. This is 'kidnapper' Scott."
Scott smirked, knowing she wouldn't make it easy for him. "Hello, everyone. Yes, I'm a kidnapper. Last time, I kidnapped my godson. This time, it's my fiancée."
Marigold was speechless.
Her colleagues' eyes immediately turned to Marigold.
Marigold wanted to argue, but seeing Scott's shameless expression, she knew she couldn't stoop to his level.
"That baby looks familiar," someone said, looking at Teddy.
Teddy was munching on a snack, licking his lips.
As Teddy greeted everyone, his cookie fell to the ground. He looked down, wanting to pick it up, but Scott quickly bent down, picked it up, and threw it in the trash.
Teddy's expression changed. He looked at the trash can, then at Scott, and his mouth turned down as he started to cry.
The crying was sudden and caught everyone off guard.
Marigold, back at her desk, heard Teddy's cries.
Scott, worried about disturbing the others, took Teddy outside to calm him down.
"Teddy, it was dirty. I didn't want you to eat it. Don't cry. I'll buy you a new one, okay?" Scott was at a loss.
Marigold got up and saw Scott struggling to comfort Teddy in the front yard. "And he says he's not a kidnapper," she muttered.
She took a lollipop from her drawer and went outside.
Scott was about to leave to buy Teddy a snack when he saw Marigold approaching.
"What's his name?" Marigold asked, taking the chubby child from Scott's arms.
"His name is Theodore, or you can call him Teddy," Scott replied.
Marigold liked the name. She spoke gently, "Teddy, here's a lollipop. Don't cry, okay?" She handed the wrapped candy to Teddy.
Teddy immediately stopped crying, showing what it meant to stop crying in an instant.
Women seemed to have a natural talent for comforting children, and Scott was impressed.
Teddy eagerly unwrapped the lollipop and put it in his mouth. Marigold watched him with a soft expression, her eyes full of affection.
Sebastian was walking through the yard, heading to talk to Ernest about a recent case.
Teddy spotted Sebastian and, recognizing him, threw away the lollipop and started calling out.
Sebastian heard the familiar voice, "I think I hear Teddy."
He turned and saw Teddy under the tree, being held by Marigold, with Scott standing nearby.
He walked over, and Teddy immediately reached out for Sebastian to hold him.
"Teddy, what are you doing here?" Sebastian asked, taking the child from Marigold. His eyes moved between Marigold and Scott.
Seeing Scott, Sebastian quickly connected the dots. He remembered Molly talking about divorce and Marigold's transfer request. Everything made sense now.
The three of them stood there, the situation suddenly more dramatic.
Teddy clung to Sebastian's shoulder, playing with his police badge. The next moment, he tried to bite it!
In the afternoon, Sebastian had work to do, so he handed Teddy back to Scott. "Try not to come to the station unless necessary. It disrupts our work."
Scott asked, "Molly comes here often, doesn't she?"
Marigold spoke up for Sebastian, "We all know Molly is an exception."
Scott questioned, "Why don't you ever defend me?"
Marigold had been around long enough to know that everyone favored Molly.
Sebastian politely reminded Scott, "Teddy needs his nap in the afternoon. If he misses it, he'll be hard to calm down. You should leave soon."
He gently pinched Teddy's cheek, "Be good. I'll see you tonight."
