Chapter 762 The World is Vast

As the plane leveled out, Vera stood up and apologized to the other first-class passengers. "I'm really sorry, everyone. My kid's pretty young, and this is his first time flying. He's scared, and it's affecting everyone."

With that, she handed out small apology gifts she had prepared in advance, asking the flight attendant to distribute them.

"Mrs. Olteran, it's totally understandable. Most kids are like this on their first flight," someone from the back said.

Vera was surprised. "You know me?"

"I don't know you personally, but I recognize Mr. Olteran sitting next to you," the person replied. After all, who else would be with Mr. Olteran but his wife?

Patrick chuckled softly, dropping his usual CEO demeanor, and greeted the stranger.

"It's really Mr. Olteran! We weren't sure at first and didn't want to make a mistake. Hello, Mr. Olteran," another passenger chimed in.

Patrick, usually so aloof, responded to each greeting.

With the plane now steady and Patrick's comforting embrace, Teddy gradually stopped crying.

"Mr. Olteran, can we see your son? We've heard online that he's super cute, but we've never seen him."

Patrick looked down at Teddy, whose eyelashes were still wet with tears, and smiled. "He's just a kid who cries a lot."

Vera stood up with Teddy, letting everyone get a glimpse. "Mr. Olteran's child is indeed cute, but he sure can cry."

She then interacted with Teddy, "Isn't that right, Teddy?"

Teddy's little mouth quivered, and tears were about to flow again. Vera quickly handed him back to Patrick. "He needs his dad right now."

Soon, a flight attendant approached. Since Patrick was seated in the aisle, she spoke directly to him. "Mr. Olteran, Mrs. Olteran, is there anything you need?"

Teddy clung tightly to Patrick, who bent down to pick up the pacifier Teddy had thrown on the floor. "Just a cup of hot water, please."

A moment later, the hot water arrived. To prevent Teddy from grabbing it, Patrick handed Teddy to Vera and used the hot water to sterilize the pacifier.

Vera pinched Teddy's cheek. "Here's your clean pacifier."

Noticing the cabin temperature had dropped, Vera opened a thin blanket and wrapped it around Teddy's chubby little body. "Ready for a nap?"

Patrick also opened his blanket and handed it to Vera. "You should cover up and get some sleep, too."

The brown blanket wrapped around Teddy made him look like he did when he was just a couple of months old, a tiny bundle of cuteness.

"Patrick, I'm not tired."

Teddy had napped in his uncle's arms all afternoon, so he wasn't sleepy either.

Vera turned him around and opened the window shade, letting him look at the clouds outside. "Curious little one, take a good look at the world."

Teddy was fascinated by the clouds.

After a while, Patrick got up to get more hot water and expertly prepared a bottle of formula for Teddy in the galley.

The passengers watching were amazed. No one expected him to be so hands-on and skilled.

"Teddy, time for your bottle," Patrick said, sitting back down and handing the bottle to Teddy.

Teddy lay half in Vera's arms, drinking the formula Patrick had made, gazing out the small window at the sky.

When he was calm, the world seemed as soft as the clouds.

After finishing his bottle, Patrick got up again to wash it, his practiced movements surprising everyone. "Mr. Olteran, do you often make formula for your son at home?"

Patrick replied, "My wife does it more often. I only get to help when I'm not busy."

Vera laughed. "Whenever Patrick is home, he takes over looking after Teddy."

As the sky darkened and there was nothing more to see outside, Teddy insisted on staying by the window.

"Patrick, you've had a long day. Get some sleep. I'll play with Teddy until he falls asleep," Vera said.

Patrick didn't argue. He could still feel his family's presence even while resting in the aisle seat. "If you need to go to the restroom, just wake me."

"Okay." Patrick reclined his seat and comfortably fell asleep.

Teddy turned his head, curious about why Patrick's seat could recline while his and Vera's couldn't.

Patrick opened his eyes and patted his hands. "Want to come to Dad's lap?"

Teddy eagerly moved towards him, but Vera tapped his nose. "Jealous that your dad can lie down? We can too."

She guided Teddy's finger to press the button on her seat, making it recline. Teddy was fascinated, but soon Vera's seat was upright again.

His big eyes were full of confusion.

Vera laughed. "Silly boy, don't you get it?"

She gently draped a blanket over Patrick.

Patrick woke slightly. "Vera, you should use it."

"I'm fine. You sleep well. Teddy and I can share one. He's just a little guy; he doesn't need a big blanket."

And so, Teddy, not understanding what was happening, earned a new nickname: Little Carrot.

He had so many nicknames, all given by his loving family.

When the outside world was completely dark and nothing could be seen, Teddy finally yawned and fell asleep in Vera's arms around eleven o'clock.

Vera lay down, pulling the blanket over herself, and drifted into a light sleep in the quiet cabin.

Whenever Teddy stirred, she would wake up, patting his little body to soothe him.

Patrick, always mindful of his family, woke up at two in the morning.

He saw Teddy's chubby face wrapped in the blanket, both mother and son sleeping peacefully.

Patrick gently lifted the blanket and checked Teddy's diaper. Even with his careful movements, Vera woke up, thinking someone was trying to take her child.

"Patrick."

"Did I wake you?" Patrick softly rubbed her hair. "Go back to sleep. I'll hold Teddy."

Vera shook her head, sensing what Patrick was doing. "I already checked. His diaper doesn't need changing."

Patrick, worried about Vera's arms, tried to take Teddy, but the boy started to cry as soon as he left Vera's embrace.

Not wanting to disturb the other passengers, Vera stopped Patrick. "It's okay, Patrick. Let him sleep with me. He's hard to soothe."

Teddy settled back into Vera's arms, continuing his peaceful sleep.

Patrick felt a pang of sympathy for Vera.
