Chapter 101 She Doesn't Deserve to Give Me the Silent Treatment!

Elijah walked over, looking puzzled. "What's up with Ms. Beniere? She seemed all flustered and didn't even say hi back."

Frederick shoved an insulated lunch box into Elijah's hands. "I'm going for a smoke," he muttered, then stormed off.

Elijah stood there, confused. "What the heck is going on? One's freaking out, and the other looks like he's been wronged. Did they have a fight or something?"

Everyone knew Isabella had saved Dennis, and Frederick had been nicer to her since then, easing the tension between them. But now, just a few hours later, they were at it again?

Frederick stood on the balcony, smoking and feeling super frustrated. Anna misunderstanding him was one thing, but Isabella? That really got to him.

He called Jared over. "What exactly happened last night?" he asked.

Jared, Frederick's personal bodyguard, was similar in status to Elliot but had a cold demeanor, rarely spoke, and was about the same height as Frederick.

"When I got there, Kevin was already dead," Jared said. "Killed by an enemy."

"Which enemy?" Frederick asked.

"Last month, Kevin and another guy targeted a female college student, dragged her into a hotel, and gang-raped her. She reported it to the police, but without evidence, they couldn't arrest anyone. Instead, Kevin and his friends accused her of seducing them for their money and then trying to extort them."

Jared continued, "The woman lost her dignity, her reputation was ruined, and she got expelled from school. A few days ago, she found out she was pregnant. Enraged, she confronted Kevin and his friends, only to be beaten and raped again. In despair, she jumped off a building and committed suicide. Her parents were deceased, and she was very close to her brother Joe, who's a soldier stationed at a military base. Last night, while they were doing drugs, Joe sneaked into the room and injected Kevin with a lethal dose, killing him instantly."

Frederick frowned. "If they all bullied his sister, why only kill Kevin?"

"Not sure, but Nicholas met with Joe before it happened," Jared replied.

Frederick's eyes narrowed. That explained why only Kevin died while the others were untouched. Nicholas only wanted Kevin dead! He was warning the Valdemar family leave Dennis alone while secretly framing Frederick, knowing Kevin's death would make everyone think Frederick killed him to avenge Dennis.

Only those close to Frederick knew he wouldn't commit murder. If he hated someone, he'd make their life a living hell instead.

"Do others know about this?" he asked.

"Probably not," Jared said. "After it happened, Nicholas's people have been looking for the woman's brother. I think they want to silence him."

Frederick's face darkened. "Find Joe and send him to Gary for now!"

"Send him to Gary to dig rocks?" Jared asked.

"Better than dying at Nicholas's hands," Frederick replied.

In this world, the poor are already at a disadvantage. The rich and powerful are like gods, while those without money or power are nothing.

There are too many people like that woman who suffer and die unjustly!

The darkness of society is far worse than what ordinary people see, and even the snippets shown in movies are just the tip of the iceberg.

People like Kevin, who are utterly inhumane, have committed countless vile acts!

His death should be a cause for celebration!

However, Nicholas was good at using others to do his dirty work. His plan was quite cunning.

It seems he has been too lenient with them lately!

The next day, Isabella went to the hospital to bring breakfast to Dennis.

But she didn't go directly to Dennis's room.

She went to find Elijah and asked him to take the breakfast to Dennis. She also relied on Elijah to get updates on Dennis's condition.

Even a fool could see she was avoiding Frederick.

After what happened yesterday, Isabella was quite scared, afraid that Frederick might really be a murderer! She feared that if she couldn't cure Dennis's illness, he would take his frustration out on her.

But she couldn't stop worrying about Dennis.

She didn't want to give up on Dennis, but she also didn't want to interact with Frederick, so she tried to avoid him.

Elijah didn't understand and took the lunch box to Dennis's room, asking Frederick, "What happened between you and Isabella? Why is she avoiding you?"

Frederick looked up, saying, "She was here?"

"Yeah, she came and left, asked me to bring breakfast to Dennis," Elijah answered.

Frederick was instantly displeased.

Elijah said, "When Dennis got into trouble, I thought you two would finally get along because of it. How come it only lasted a day? We're all on the same side; why not just talk it out?"

Frederick's face darkened as he remarkec, "You consider her one of us, but she doesn't necessarily see you that way. Not everyone can be one of us; don't lower yourself."

Elijah was confused, inquiring, "What do you mean?"

"Can't understand plain English?!" Frederick questioned.

Hearing Frederick's sharp words, Elijah pursed his lips, asking, "What exactly happened?"

Frederick, with a dark face, ignored him.

Frederick was angry. He had already said he didn't kill anyone, but Isabella didn't believe him! Clearly, she didn't consider him one of her own.

And since that is the case, there was no need to be nice or speak well of her!

Elijah advised, "If you have any issues, just talk them out openly. Don't give each other the silent treatment."

"Who's giving her the silent treatment?"

"One's avoiding, the other's making snide remarks behind her back. If that's not a silent treatment, what is?" Elijah remarked.

"If she wants a silent treatment, she has to earn it," Frederick said coldly, implying Isabella wasn't even worth ignoring.

Elijah was speechless. He wanted to say more, but Frederick suddenly took a phone call.

After hearing what the other person said, he replied, "I'll be right there!"

He hung up and left.

Elijah saw the ruthlessness in his eyes and knew someone was about to suffer.
