Chapter 73 Isabella Have I Fallen Out of Favor?
Isabella was caught off guard.
"You've got a plan? Spill it."
Hugo nodded. "Yeah, since Dennis is all grumpy, shy, and doesn't trust strangers, you can't just waltz in. First, you gotta show him you're cool and won't hurt him. Make him like you, then get closer."
Isabella thought it over. Hugo had a point.
"But if I don't meet Dennis, how do I show him I'm a good person?"
"Help him out quietly or show some kindness. Do stuff he likes to eat or play with and have his family give it to him," Hugo suggested.
"But I don't know what he likes. His family says he's only into things related to his mom."
"Doesn't matter. The goal is to show you're not a threat. That way, you can slowly get close to him," Hugo explained.
"Your idea sounds doable. I'll figure out how to make it work," Isabella said.
Hugo added, "Yeah, but getting close to someone takes effort and time. Are you planning to stay here long-term? Are we not leaving?"
Isabella replied, "We have to leave eventually, but not right now."
"Why? You haven't finished your business?" Hugo asked.
"Yeah."
Hugo knew it was because the marriage wasn't finalized.
"Are you in a hurry to leave?"
If Isabella was in a rush, he would have to act.
Isabella neither nodded nor shook her head. "I am, but I have other things to handle now, and your school issues are sorted, so I'm not in a big rush."
Hugo stayed silent.
Not being in a rush was good; he didn't need to act yet.
"Do you want to leave quickly, Hugo?" Isabella suddenly asked.
Hugo shook his head. "I can be anywhere as long as I'm with Mommy."
Isabella smiled, full of happiness, and patted Hugo's head.
"Me too. As long as I'm with you guys, anywhere is fine."
Nearby, Freya was bragging to Justin and Paul, who occasionally exclaimed in admiration.
Isabella looked at the three of them and smiled.
One dared to boast, and the other two believed and supported her.
Hugo looked at them and then at Isabella, asking, "Mommy, do you envy Freya's job?"
"What? No, I don't have a preschool teacher certificate, so I can't be a preschool teacher, and I'm not interested in that job. So no, but I do envy Freya for having a job."
"Do you really want to work?" Hugo asked.
"Yes, having a job means making money to support you guys," Isabella replied.
Hugo, with a serious expression, said, "We can support ourselves."
Isabella laughed again.
"You're still young; you can't go out and make money. How can you support yourselves?"
"We can make money," Hugo insisted.
"How?" Isabella asked.
Investing in stocks and doing business could all make money. But Hugo didn't dare to say that, afraid of scaring Isabella.
After thinking for a moment, Hugo said, "Becoming a child star can make money. I've seen some kids online who can make money before they're even a year old. Everyone says I look like a child star. I think I can be a child star too."
Isabella asked, "Do you want to be a child star?"
'No!' Hugo thought.
Hugo was really into business, but he still said, "I can be a child star to make money for you and my brothers."
Isabella's smile got even bigger. Hugo was so thoughtful, she couldn't help but laugh.
She gave Hugo's cheek a playful pinch. "Our Hugo is the most handsome kid in the world. If you were in the spotlight, you'd be a top child star in no time. But taking care of you is my job. Since I brought you into this world, I will definitely take care of you. Don't worry, even though things are tough now, I'll work hard and give you a happy life!"
Giving Hugo, Justin, and Paul a happy life was Isabella's main goal.
Hugo sighed inwardly, wanting to use his own money to help Isabella, but she never gave him the chance!
"Why that face? Don't you believe me?" Isabella asked.
Hugo quickly shook his head. "No, to us, you're a superwoman. You're amazing and will definitely lead us to a happy life."
Isabella was full of confidence. "Don't worry, I won't let you down!"
She always believed that hard work pays off. Even without a degree, she wasn't dumb. She was hopeful about giving her three kids a happy life.
Hugo looked at her, thought for a moment, and his eyes lit up. "Mommy, Freya said you're really good at special education and even saved a child."
"I wouldn't say really good, just knowledgeable. Why?"
"Today, a kid at kindergarten said her mom makes a lot of money writing at home. Can you write about special education to make money?"
Isabella blinked. She hadn't thought of that before. If possible, that would be great. Writing at home would give her flexible time to work and take care of Hugo, Justin, and Paul. It would be a perfect job for her.
"I'll look into it," Isabella replied.
"Okay."
Hugo gave Isabella a good idea and then went to the bathroom. He sat on the toilet, opened his kids' smartwatch, and started posting high-paying writing job ads online. It was hard to find a good way to give Isabella money, so he had to give a lot!
At night, as soon as Freya lay down, she said, "Today was so satisfying. I felt like a big star."
Isabella smiled helplessly. "Congrats on getting two little fans."
"They're die-hard fans. Didn't you see the way Justin and Paul looked at me? Full of admiration. If Hugo weren't so calm, I'd think I was a queen with special skills!"
Isabella laughed. "Hugo is mature for his age. He admires you too."
Freya was delighted. She asked Isabella, "Did Eric contact you?"
Isabella shrugged and shook her head. "No."
"What? Is he really planning to give up on you?"
"Yes."
"I didn't think he'd drop you so fast. Congrats, you don't have to deal with him anymore. You can finally cut ties."
Isabella was silent. She agreed verbally, but she wasn't that happy inside. She was even complaining about Eric. What was this? He really abandoned her in just one day?
She really didn't want to have contact with Eric, but she was very concerned about Dennis. The child who looked just like Hugo and Justin made her unable to let go.
