Chapter 114 Waiting for Frederick to Lose Face
Frederick was going through some papers in his office. It was hot, so he ditched his suit jacket and was just in a dark shirt.
His sleeves were rolled up, showing off his muscular forearms and a fancy watch.
He sat at his desk, head down, brows slightly furrowed, back straight as an arrow.
His hand gripped a pen tightly, signing his name with a flourish on the last page. After signing, he looked up, clearly annoyed, "What's the rush? What happened?"
Elliot started, "Ms. Beniere, she..."
Before Elliot could finish, Frederick cut him off coldly, "Didn't you hear me?! Don't mention her in front of me!"
Elliot tried again, "No, Ms. Beniere, she..."
Frederick shouted, "Get out!"
"Frederick..."
"Get out!"
Frederick's anger was about to blow the roof off, and Elliot quickly backed off in fear.
Everyone else asked hastily, "Elliot, how did it go? Can we get a break?"
Elliot shook his head helplessly, "Keep working for now."
Everyone groaned, "Oh God, who can save us?!"
Elliot stayed silent.
Originally, Isabella could have, but...
Elliot knew Isabella was doing it for Dennis's sake, but without Frederick's approval, he absolutely couldn't let anyone bring food to Dennis.
So he made a call, saying, "Release the delivery guy, don't give him a hard time. Let him return the food as it is, and cover the delivery fee."
Soon, the delivery guy brought the food back.
Isabella was surprised and called Elliot again, "Why was the food returned? Why can't Dennis eat it?"
Elliot didn't know what to say and stammered, "Dennis needs Eric's approval for what he eats, and Eric is busy right now."
Isabella got it immediately!
It was him who didn't allow Dennis to eat!
Isabella's anger flared up, and she called Frederick.
But he hung up on her!
She called again, and he hung up again!
She called once more, and he blocked her.
Isabella was furious and called Elliot again, "Can you have him take the call? It's urgent, and it's about Dennis."
Elliot quickly took the phone to Frederick.
This time, he didn't say anything, turned on the speaker, and placed the phone on Frederick's desk, saying, "Ms. Beniere, go ahead."
After reminding Isabella, Elliot bolted out of the room, not daring to look at Frederick.
The voice on the other end of the line said, "Hello! Eric, are you listening?!"
Hearing Isabella's voice, Frederick frowned.
Isabella was very angry, "Speak! Don't play dead! If you're a man, say something!"
Frederick's face turned dark as he shouted, "Stay away from me! Stop bothering me!"
Before he could hang up, Isabella expressed fervently, "Who's bothering you? Do you think I'd contact you if it weren't for Dennis? Get real! You even hung up on me and blocked me! How could you?"
"You..." Frederick wanted to say something.
Isabella swiftly interrupted him, "What about me? I'm risking my life to bring food to Dennis, and you, as his father, ignore his well-being because of your emotions! Are you even a man? Are you even a father?!
You won't let Dennis eat the food I sent. Have you considered it from Dennis's perspective? He's lost weight from hunger these past few days! Even if you don't like me, you should think about Dennis, right? Your behavior is simply..."
"What did you say? You brought food to Dennis?!" Frederick questioned.
Isabella was taken aback, angrily, "Don't tell me you didn't know! You had it sent back to me!"
Frederick frowned, shouting, "Elliot!"
Elliot, who was eavesdropping at the door, quickly pushed open the glass door and came in,
"Did you call me?" he asked.
Frederick glared at him, "Did she send food to Dennis?"
"Yes," Elliot answered.
"Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I came in to tell you, but you didn't want to listen and yelled at me to get out."
Frederick snapped, "Can't you just get to the point when you talk?!"
Elliot felt wronged, retorting, "You didn't give me a chance."
"And you think you're in the right?" Frederick shouted again.
Elliot felt even more wronged.
On the other end of the phone, Isabella heard everything and realized Frederick didn't know about it.
But her earlier words weren't unjustified!
When it comes to Dennis, he should listen carefully and let Elliot finish speaking. It's his fault!
"You..."
"I..."
They both started speaking at the same time.
Isabella pouted, "You go first."
Frederick explained, "I didn't know you brought food for Dennis."
"Oh," Her tone was icy.
Frederick fell silent.
The office suddenly went quiet again.
Elliot tried to ease the tension, "Ms. Beniere, is the food still there? If it is, Eric and I can come get it now. We're free."
Isabella replied, "You come by yourself. I don't want to see him."
Elliot uttered, "What?"
Isabella continued, "Seeing him annoys me!"
Frederick gritted his teeth, staying silent.
Elliot braced himself, "Okay, I'll come over now. I'll call you when I get there."
"Okay." Isabella hung up.
Elliot quickly grabbed his phone, protecting it!
Afraid Frederick might smash it!
Seeing Frederick's dark, terrifying face, Elliot said, "Anyway, it's a good thing Ms. Beniere is willing to make food for Dennis! Think about Dennis. He hasn't eaten much for days, and today he can finally eat more."
Thinking of Dennis, Frederick's face softened a bit.
He turned off his computer, stood up, and put on his coat, "Let's go."
Elliot seized the moment, "Today is a good day. How about we take a break? Everyone's been exhausted lately."
Frederick was buttoning his suit, "Take two days off, and this month's pay will be triple."
"Okay!"
As soon as the news spread, the people downstairs were thrilled, asking, "Elliot, was it that phone call that made Frederick happy?"
"I heard a voice, it sounded like a woman! Was it?"
Elliot squinted, "Are you seriously eavesdropping on Frederick's call? Are you asking for trouble?"
"No, I overheard it by accident. Was it really the woman on the phone who made Frederick happy?"
Elliot didn't deny it, and everyone got excited, wondering, "Who is the lucky girl that Frederick likes? She must be very beautiful and kind!"
"No wonder Frederick's mood has been so unpredictable these days. Turns out he's in love. I heard men are very childish during relationships, getting angry over little things."
Accompanied by the sound of the door opening, Frederick came out of the CEO's office.
The people who were chatting and laughing immediately changed their expressions, quickly shut their mouths, and returned to their positions.
Frederick, with a stern face, said nothing and walked into the elevator.
Elliot quickly followed.
As the elevator doors closed, Frederick spoke, "Who's in love?"
Elliot's heart skipped a beat, and he forced a smile, "You heard that? It's a misunderstanding."
Frederick remarked, "Durbara is always open for you."
Elliot cried, "I'm sorry. I was wrong. I'll never gossip about you again. Sending me to Durbara to dig stones is worse than killing me."
Frederick said coldly, "If you don't want to dig stones, stop daydreaming. Isabella and I will never be together in this lifetime!"
"Not necessarily, right? Who knows what the future holds?" Elliot questioned.
"If I end up with her, you can take my position as CEO," Frederick said coldly and strode out of the elevator.
Elliot said nothing.
Should he look forward to it?
Why did he feel like he had a chance to move up?!
