Chapter 97 Dennis, Please Wake Up
Isabella's heart was pounding like crazy.
She was shaking all over, and if she hadn't been holding onto the wall, she would've hit the floor. Her legs felt like jelly, refusing to move.
It wasn't until Frederick's hysterical screams echoed from the room again that she snapped back to reality and bolted to the sixth floor.
When she burst into the room, Frederick was doing CPR on Dennis.
Dennis lay there, still as a statue, eyes shut, face ghostly pale, lips white as wax, lifeless.
Isabella's nose stung, and tears streamed down her face.
She collapsed by the bed, kneeling on the ground, feeling for a pulse in Dennis's small hand.
Nothing. No pulse!
Isabella's mind went blank, like a piece of her heart had been ripped out, making it hard to breathe.
"Needles, needles, needles..." Isabella muttered, wanting to use acupuncture to treat Dennis.
But she was so nervous her whole body was shaking, and she couldn't even hold the needles steady.
Isabella was frantic, crying out, "Useless! Useless!"
She tried to calm herself down to treat Dennis with acupuncture, but she couldn't control herself and cursed at herself in frustration.
Suddenly, a sharp sound echoed in the room as Isabella slapped herself hard!
A bright red handprint instantly appeared on her fair cheek, looking painful.
She was forcing herself to calm down!
The slap not only calmed her down but also made Frederick and John much calmer.
The two men stared at her for a few seconds, and Frederick suddenly jumped off the bed, bending down to pick up Dennis to take him to the hospital.
Isabella stopped him, "There's no time! Put him down and let me try!"
Frederick didn't have time to argue.
"In his current state, he'll be dead by the time you get him to the hospital!" Isabella shouted, pushing him aside with all her strength, "Take off his clothes, take off all his clothes!"
Isabella instructed John while administering acupuncture to Dennis.
"I have medicine in my pocket, quickly crush a pill and mix it with water to feed him!"
John was undressing Dennis, and Frederick frowned. The next second, Isabella shot him a cold glare, snapping, "What are you standing there for? Hurry!"
Frederick snapped out of it, reached into her pocket, and took out a small bottle of medicine, "What kind of medicine is this?"
"It saves lives!"
"Stop talking nonsense. If you don't want to give up on Dennis, do as I say!"
Isabella didn't even look at him, focusing intently on treating Dennis with acupuncture.
Frederick didn't dare waste any more time. He took the medicine to the kitchen and quickly returned with a small bowl.
Isabella took the medicine, pinched Dennis's jaw, and forced the medicine down his throat.
She then gently wiped his mouth with a tissue.
Elijah arrived with an ambulance, and Isabella said, "Just in time, take him to the hospital quickly!"
A group of people hurriedly put Dennis into the ambulance and rushed to the hospital.
Before they reached the hospital, Dennis suddenly coughed violently.
Everyone in the car was shocked and confused.
After the violent coughing, Dennis's face finally showed some color.
Isabella's eyes lit up with joy. She quickly checked Dennis's breathing and pulse, and she was so excited she could hardly speak, "He's alive, he's alive!"
Whether it was from excitement or not, Isabella collapsed into Frederick's arms, tears streaming down her face, "He's okay! He's awake! Dennis is the toughest kid in the world."
Frederick's eyes were red, and for the first time, he didn't push her away. Instead, he held her tightly, letting her cry in his arms.
Isabella was excited, and he was even more excited!
If Dennis had died today, he would have died too. Without Dennis, there would be no Frederick!
John and Elijah also shed tears.
Today, they were scared to death!
After a busy time at the hospital, once it was confirmed that Dennis was out of danger, Isabella left the hospital without saying a word.
It was snowing heavily today, and the temperature was very low, but because she had been so tense earlier, she was burning up.
She needed to go home and take a good shower to relax.
She didn't ask about Anna or Eric's family matters; she only cared about Dennis, and now that he was okay, she was at ease.
As soon as Isabella left, Nicholas arrived at the hospital with a large group of people.
The main members of the Valdemar family were all there, along with some relatives.
Dozens of people crowded the hallway, making it impassable.
"Frederick, how is Dennis now?" Nicholas looked very anxious, his face full of worry.
Frederick stood by the railing, smoking, staring ahead, not even glancing at them or responding.
His face was dark, and the surrounding atmosphere was heavy.
Nicholas frowned and glared fiercely at Anna!
His men threw Anna in front of Frederick.
The slap left a visible mark on Anna's face, and her clothes were stained with blood. It was obvious that Nicholas had punished her.
Nicholas said to Frederick again, "I know you're angry, and I am too! If I had known she was so vicious, I wouldn't have let her be born! She even tried to poison Dennis, she deserves to die! Today, I brought her here, and I will decide her fate. In front of the entire Valdemar family, you can punish her however you want, even kill her!"
Anna was terrified, "Dad, no! I know I was wrong, I never meant to harm Dennis. Who knew Dennis would be so sensitive now, going crazy at the sight of me? I never wanted him to die."
Anna cried bitterly, clearly frightened by Nicholas's attitude.
After receiving the news today, Nicholas had gone straight to her house and beaten her half to death!
Seeing Nicholas unmoved, she looked to the others, "Help me, please, help me beg for mercy."
The other members of the Valdemar family knew that Nicholas and Frederick were truly angry, and everyone was on edge, not daring to make a sound.
Let alone standing up for Anna.
Nicholas had called them here to show everyone that anyone who dared to harm Dennis would face this fate!
At this moment, everyone wished they could hide far away; who would dare to step forward?
Nicholas shouted, "Shut up! How dare you cry? As a Valdemar, you dared to harm Dennis. You must have a death wish! If you can hurt Dennis today, you can hurt me tomorrow, and the entire Valdemar family the day after!"
Nicholas raised his cane and struck Anna again, causing her head to bleed on the spot.
Anna was scared to death, ignoring the pain, crying and begging Frederick for help, "Frederick, I was wrong. I am so old and senile that I have done something terrible. I will never dare to provoke Dennis again. Please spare me this time, save me, your grandfather is going to kill me."
Frederick remained expressionless. From the moment the Valdemar family members appeared until now, his expression hadn't changed at all.
The less he spoke, the heavier the atmosphere became.
Just when everyone was feeling so oppressed they could hardly breathe, Frederick suddenly spoke.
