Chapter 22 The Valdemar Family Is Looking for Her!
Frederick's eyes were bloodshot.
Isabella trembled in fear and explained, "I used the needles to make him sleep. He's in too much pain. His body wants to sleep, but his mind is resisting. He's fighting with himself. Such a fierce struggle could harm him. He might be in danger."
After staring at Isabella for a moment, Frederick believed she was telling the truth and released her wrist.
Isabella breathed a sigh of relief and immediately treated Dennis.
Soon, Dennis's heartbeat returned to normal.
Elijah took a deep breath. "Great! His heartbeat is finally normal."
Isabella put away her needles and said, "Now, I can only wait for him to wake up and check on him. I heard he has bipolar disorder, like Albert. Albert was traumatized by his kidnapping. What about Dennis?"
"He's obsessed with his mother. His excessive longing for her caused his illness."
Isabella was puzzled.
"Excessive longing for his mother? Where is she?"
Elijah shrugged helplessly and looked at Frederick.
Elijah said, "She's not here."
Isabella subconsciously thought that Dennis's mother had passed away.
She asked, "When did his mother die?"
Before Elijah could speak, Frederick roared, "Who told you his mother is dead? She's alive and well!"
Frederick's sudden anger startled Isabella.
Annoyed, Isabella glared at Frederick but held back her retort.
Frederick also realized he had shouted at her again. His lips moved, but no sound came out.
Not knowing what to say, Frederick looked down at Dennis.
Elijah immediately eased the tension.
"She didn't die. But she disappeared after giving birth to Dennis. Now, we don't know if she's still alive."
"She's alive!" Frederick interjected, though he didn't look up.
Elijah could only say, "Yes! She's alive! She's still alive."
Knowing he couldn't discuss Dennis's mother in detail in front of Frederick, Elijah took Isabella to the corridor.
Elijah explained, "In fact, Dennis's mother disappeared after giving birth to him. Over the years, both Dennis and Frederick have been searching for her and missing her. You should be able to see that, besides Dennis, Frederick also longs for that woman and is obsessed with her."
Isabella remained silent.
She couldn't help but glance into the ward. Sitting by the bedside, Frederick held Dennis's small hand tightly, his face filled with sadness.
Isabella thought, 'This man could actually be a good husband and father.'
Isabella retracted her gaze.
She asked Elijah, "So Dennis is sick because he misses his mother too much?"
"Yes. That's the root cause of his illness."
"If that's the case, the best solution is to find his mother."
"If we can find his mother, Dennis won't be sick. We've been searching for many years, but we still haven't found her."
Isabella glanced into the ward again.
Isabella didn't know why, but she felt sad and sorry when she saw Dennis lying on the bed.
After calming down, Isabella said to Elijah, "If you can't find his mother, you need to find a way to distract him. Find a substitute, a person or something. Anything will do."
Elijah sighed again.
"We once found a fake mother for him. But he quickly found out the truth and became irritable. Since then, his condition has worsened. Later, we never dared to try again. Since we can't find a woman to replace his mother, we can't distract him with anything else. Besides his mother, he has no interest in anything. He spends his time sleeping and thinking about his mother."
Isabella felt a pang of heartache and asked, "Hasn't he gone to school?"
"No. Because of his illness, he can't go to school normally."
"Have you ever entered his world?"
Elijah shook his head. "We haven't had the chance."
"What about hypnosis?"
"We tried, but we weren't successful."
Isabella remained silent.
Elijah said, "Dennis is different from other children. He's exceptionally smart, so you can't treat him like an ordinary kid. He's intelligent, sensitive, and alert."
Isabella glanced into the ward again and after a moment, she said, "I know why you called me, but I'm not a doctor. I just learned some medical skills from my family. Also, I've read a few books on child psychology in my spare time. So please don't expect too much from me. I can try to talk to Dennis after he wakes up. I'll try to enter his world and find a breakthrough."
Elijah immediately said, "Great! We're already grateful that you're willing to help. Don't worry. Frederick won't let you help in vain. You can make any request. There's nothing he can't do in Teronica."
Isabella thought, 'I want to divorce Frederick as soon as possible, so can he help me?'
'Eric?' 'Frederick?' 'The names sound similar. What a coincidence.'
Isabella wanted to ask Elijah about Eric's full name, but her phone suddenly rang. It was an unknown number.
Isabella walked aside to answer the call. "Hello."
"Are you looking to divorce Frederick?"
"Yes. How did you know? Who are you?"
"Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that Frederick is in Teronica right now. He's not on a business trip. He lied to you. If you want to divorce him, you can go to his house or wait for him at his company."
The person hung up after speaking.
Isabella's eyes widened. She thought, 'Frederick isn't on a business trip?'
Isabella immediately called back the number to find out, but the call went unanswered because it was an invalid number.
Isabella's heart raced. She had no idea who the person she called was. Instead, she turned and ran to the elevator.
Elijah caught up with her. "Ms. Beniere, what's wrong?"
Isabella pressed the elevator button and said, "I have something urgent to attend to."
"Do you need our help?"
"I don't need it. This is my private matter."
"But Dennis..." Elijah was worried that Dennis might suddenly wake up and do something crazy because they couldn't calm him down.
Elijah couldn't guarantee that Isabella could calm Dennis, but she was their only hope.
Therefore, Elijah didn't want Isabella to leave.
Isabella understood his meaning and explained, "Take down my phone number. If there's a problem with Dennis, call me. I have something urgent to attend to. I'm in a hurry."
Isabella anxiously gave her phone number.
She had a good impression of Elijah because he spoke to her politely.
Thinking of something, Isabella continued, "I'll send you a prescription later. If Dennis suddenly wakes up and you can't control him, give him this medicine. It will be effective."
"Okay! Thank you!"
Elijah took down Isabella's phone number and watched her enter the elevator. Elijah didn't stop Isabella from leaving.
After Isabella left, Elijah returned to Dennis's ward.
