Chapter 135 Is Daddy Here to Interrogate Me?
Thanks to Justin's quick thinking.
Before Frederick could get a good look at the figure, he had already slipped into the small cubicle.
Frederick turned to Hugo, puzzled, and asked, "Who were you talking to just now?"
Hugo clenched his small hands, his dark eyes darting around. He calmed down and shot back, "Dad, are you here to grill me?"
He knew Frederick must have already figured out what Justin did.
Before Frederick could respond, Hugo said, "Everyone should own up to their actions. I won't drag you into this. If the Valdemar family is mad, they should come at me."
Frederick looked at him with a complicated expression. He said softly, "I'm not here to grill you. Are you hurt?"
Hugo was suspicious. Justin had caused such a big mess, and Frederick wasn't angry?
It seemed he was quite lenient with Dennis.
Hugo replied, "No."
"That's good. When did you leave the bathroom? I was outside the whole time and didn't see you come out."
"Afraid you wouldn't let me go, I changed clothes inside and jumped out the window," Hugo responded calmly.
Frederick glanced at the open window and then at the clothes on the floor. He asked, "Why did you change clothes?"
Hugo answered smoothly, "I have to go pay respects to Grandpa later. I didn't want to dirty these clothes and show disrespect."
Frederick pondered for a moment and then asked, "When did you prepare the sportswear?"
"Today."
"Where did it come from? You don't like these kinds of clothes. You never wear them."
Hugo replied unhurriedly, "Isabella gave them to me. She thought my clothes were too mature and not lively enough. She wanted me to change my style. This outfit was under my down jacket, and you didn't notice."
"Wasn't there a suit under your down jacket?"
"The sportswear was over the suit."
Frederick felt there was something off about this explanation but couldn't pinpoint it.
He didn't dwell on the clothes and temporarily believed Hugo's words. Then he asked, "Did you hit Anna because of Isabella?"
"Yes, she almost got killed because of me. I should stand up for her! Otherwise, the Valdemar family would think Isabella has no backing and bully her as they please!" Hugo answered firmly.
Frederick was puzzled, "Who told you Anna tried to hit Isabella with a car? Did Isabella complain to you?"
"No, she didn't say anything. I overheard you and Elliot discussing it."
Frederick stated, "I've already settled that matter with Anna."
"That is your solution; you cannot act on my behalf. She was wronged and frightened because of me. I must stand up for her!" Hugo declared assertively.
Frederick fell silent again, staring at Hugo.
He felt that today's Dennis was different from the usual.
And now, this Dennis seemed different from the one who hit someone earlier!
Dennis was usually quiet and cold, but today he seemed mature and steady, unlike the impulsive and lively person in the video. These three personalities were different, like three different people!
But he clearly had only one son. There was only one Dennis in this world!
And their hairstyles, heights, and body shapes showed no abnormalities. It should be just one person!
Frederick was puzzled. He stared at Hugo for a while and then softly said, "You don't need to worry about the Valdemar family. I'll handle it. Let's go pay respects to your grandpa."
Hugo couldn't help but glance at Frederick again.
He didn't even say a word of criticism and spoke so gently, like a kind father.
After a moment's hesitation, Hugo slipped his small hand into Frederick's and let himself be led out of the bathroom.
Before leaving, Hugo shot Justin a quick look, signaling him to stay calm and that everything was under control.
Outside the bathroom, the Valdemar family members were fuming when they saw Hugo, glaring at him with gritted teeth.
Hugo wasn't fazed and quietly followed Frederick, his eyes full of disdain.
Anna shouted, "Frederick! You need to give us an explanation today!"
Frederick's face turned cold, but before he could speak, Hugo stepped forward and asked, "What kind of explanation do you want?"
"You beat and humiliated in public an elder and even tore down the ancestors' portraits. It's disrespectful and rebellious!"
Hugo coldly replied, "So, what do you call it when you all wish for my death? Given your actions, how am I supposed to show you respect? Whether you love me or not, I am a living being. If you are intent on killing me, who should be condemned?"
"You..." Anna still wanted to say more.
Hugo's expression turned icy as he glared at Anna, remarking, "You should be thankful Isabella wasn't killed by you. Otherwise, you'd be finished! Even your entire family's lives wouldn't be enough to compensate!"
His words and gaze truly frightened Anna and shocked everyone.
Although his anger was somewhat different from Frederick's, his aura was no less intimidating. A single look or word from him could make people tremble with fear!
Hugo then scanned the other members of the Valdemar family, "Since you're all here, I'll say what's on my mind. Isabella is my person, and I will protect her. If any of you dare to harm her again, just try!"
Everyone held their breath, gasping in shock!
How could such an aura emanate from a mere five-year-old child?
And wasn't he supposed to still be sick? His sharp tongue didn't seem like that of a sick person!
After a long silence, Nicholas suddenly spoke, "Dennis! Are you treating your own family like this for an outsider?!"
"Outsider?" Hugo squinted at Nicholas as he inquired, "I want to ask, what is an outsider? What is family?"
Nicholas replied with a dark face, "Those with blood relations are family! Those without are outsiders!"
"Hah! That's your understanding, not mine! In my eyes, whoever treats me well is my family. Those who wish for my death are my enemies!" Hugo retorted coldly.
The Valdemar family members were shocked.
Nicholas frowned deeply at Hugo, shocked as he said, "You consider us enemies?"
"You should first ask yourselves what you consider me," Hugo questioned calmly.
"How can you have so many thoughts at such a young age? You are the only heir of the Valdemar family. Everyone in the family wishes you well. No one wants you dead!" Nicholas was shocked.
"Really? I believe Daddy doesn't wish for my death! I believe you don't either! But ask them, which one of them isn't hoping I die soon?"
Everyone fell silent.
Nicholas's face looked slightly better upon hearing that Dennis didn't think he wished for his death. But the next second, Hugo suddenly said, "And the reason you don't wish for my death isn't because you love me. You're just using me. After all, if I die, the Valdemar family will be in chaos. Everyone will want to be the heir, and you won't be able to control anyone."
Having his thoughts exposed in public, Nicholas's eyes widened. His face couldn't look worse!
