Chapter 63 Frederick Comes Knocking

She snatched up her phone and saw it was an unknown number. Annoyed, she hung up.

The caller rang back right away.

Isabella answered, fuming, "Who the heck is this?!"

"Come downstairs! You have ten minutes!"

A cold voice said, then hung up.

Isabella froze. It was Frederick!

"Who was it?" Freya asked, yawning with her eyes still shut.

Isabella swallowed her anger. "No one, go back to sleep. It's only five."

"Oh." Freya mumbled and drifted back to sleep.

Isabella took her phone to the living room, stepped out onto the balcony, and called back, whispering angrily, "Are you crazy? Didn't I tell you not to come so early? Do you even know what time it is? Waking people up will come back to bite you!"

"Eight minutes left. If you don't come down, I'll come up."

Isabella gritted her teeth. "Fine, you win!"

She hung up angrily and quickly got ready.

She checked on the kids, kissed each one, and rushed out the door.

At the entrance of the community, she didn't see a luxury car.

Just as she was looking around, she heard a honk.

It was a regular Volkswagen parked by the roadside. She glanced at it and looked away.

The rich guy always drove luxury cars; he wouldn't drive a Volkswagen.

"Get over here!" Frederick rolled down the window and shouted.

Isabella was stunned. He really came in a Volkswagen!

'Isn't he rich? Why a Volkswagen today?' she thought.

Isabella walked over, opened the back door, and got in, immediately complaining, "Are you doing this to torture me?"

Frederick ignored her and started driving.

Isabella pouted and said, "We didn't finish our talk last night. Let's clear things up today. I can take care of your son, but I can't guarantee the time. I don't plan to stay in Teronica long; I could leave anytime. If I quit, you can't stop me."

She continued, "Also, I'm not your full-time nanny. I have my own kids and personal matters. I can't stay at your place 24/7. You must let me go by six in the evening. If I have urgent matters during the day, I must be able to leave anytime."

Frederick ignored her and just focused on driving.

Isabella gritted her teeth. "If you don't say anything, I'll take it as your agreement. Also, I can't work for free. You have to pay me fairly. At least..."

"If you do well, $10,000 a day," Frederick suddenly said.

Isabella was taken aback. "How much?"

"$10,000."

"$10,000? $10,000 a day?"

Frederick didn't respond.

Isabella swallowed in shock and looked at him again, suddenly feeling he wasn't that annoying.

Isabella cleared her throat and emphasized, "You said it, so it's a deal!"

"If you do well, there will be bonuses."

"What? Bonuses?" Isabella's eyes widened.

"Yes, if you can stay with Dennis for ten minutes today, I'll give you an extra thousand dollars in cash, not as a credit."

Staying with Dennis for ten minutes would earn her an extra thousand dollars!

It felt like free money!

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"If you don't keep your word, you're not trustworthy."

Frederick just pursed his lips.

Isabella, still skeptical, asked again, "$10,000 in cash, meaning you'll give me the money directly, not as a credit?"

"Yes."

Isabella laughed out loud.

Frederick glanced at her disdainfully. She was fuming when she got in the car, but mentioning money made her happy instantly. She was indeed a money-grubber.

Realizing she was too excited, Isabella cleared her throat and looked at Frederick with a softer gaze.

Frederick frowned. "I asked you to take care of Dennis, not to get close to me. I can't stand women who don't know their place."

Isabella was stunned. "What do you mean?"

Frederick glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Don't think about seducing me. I already have someone in my heart."

Isabella's good mood vanished. She retorted, "Are you crazy? Who's thinking about seducing you? Do you think you're that popular? You're nuts! Don't forget, you came to me, not the other way around. I should be asking if you're using your son to seduce me!"

Frederick sneered. "Me, seduce you? I can't believe you said that."

"I!"

The car drove into a rundown neighborhood and stopped in front of the last building.

Frederick turned off the engine and, seeing she was still angry, said, "I'm just reminding you."

Isabella retorted, "I was reminding you too. I almost forgot, if you dare to make a move on me, I'll beat you to death."

"Don't worry, I won't make a move on you in this lifetime!"

"You better keep your word!"

Isabella angrily tried to open the door, but Frederick suddenly locked it and looked back at her. "I want you to get close to Dennis to keep him company. If you dare to hurt him, I'll make you suffer."

Frederick's voice was calm, but every word felt like an icy blade. His gaze was even more terrifying, more chilling than a ghost, as if something dreadful would emerge from his eyes at any moment.

Isabella quickly looked away, swallowing hard. "I have no grudge against him. Why would I hurt him? Besides, you came to me. If you're worried, just let me go."

Frederick stared at her for a while, then retracted his fierce gaze. "I'll trust you for now. If you do well, you'll be rewarded."

Frederick finished speaking and got out of the car.

Isabella gasped for air. Frederick was really scary when he was unhappy. She even suspected for a moment that Frederick wasn't human, but a ghost!

It's best not to get involved with such a person. She really wanted to stay far away from Frederick, but she couldn't escape.

Taking a deep breath, Isabella reluctantly got out of the car. Seeing the scene in front of her, she was a bit confused. She thought Frederick was wealthy and would definitely live in a big villa. She didn't expect him to live in such a rundown place. The neighborhood wasn't even as nice as Freya's.

"Is this your home?"

"Yes."

"Why do you live here?"

"Why can't I live here?"

Frederick walked into the building and started climbing the stairs. There wasn't even an elevator.
