Chapter 9 Longing Becomes an Illness
On the computer screen, a few lines of text appeared.
[Today's incident is just a warning. If you dare to mistreat women again, I will come for you! Mr. Valdemar, mind your manners.]
The entire Valdemar Group staff felt puzzled and astonished.
Everyone stared at the screen, instantly becoming curious. They forgot where they were and began to discuss.
"Oh my god! This computer malfunction is intentional! Who has the ability to breach the Valdemar Group's system?"
"And he even warned Mr. Valdemar to mind his manners!"
"He also said Mr. Valdemar mistreats women!"
In the president's office, Frederick stared at his computer screen, his thin lips pressed tightly, his face dark.
Elliot felt like the room was about to explode.
Summoning his courage, he said to Frederick, "Frederick, please, don't be angry. That person accused you of mistreating women, it's a slander! We all know your character."
"Where was that woman yesterday?!" Frederick asked in a cold voice.
It took Elliot a moment to realize he was referring to Isabella.
He quickly said, "We haven't found her yet."
"You're all useless!" Frederick's roar was deafening.
Elliot was scared, cold sweat running down his back, trembling all over.
Being by the boss's side was as dangerous as being next to a tiger, a fact that was now abundantly clear.
Frederick stared at the computer screen.
He wanted to find Isabella because he felt that the 'women' on the screen was referring to her!
He knew he wasn't a good person, but he never bullied anyone, let alone a woman.
The only woman he cared about was Dennis's birth mother. Other than her, he rarely interacted with women.
But yesterday, Frederick had indeed come into contact with Isabella and even detained her!
Moreover, the hackers he employed were all top experts in the current hacking world. They rarely failed.
Within a short day, they had failed twice.
The people who tried to steal his business and provoke him were nowhere to be found.
The woman named Isabella was also missing.
Frederick had to suspect that it was the same group of people who were targeting him.
Frederick gritted his teeth and coldly ordered, "Find her no matter what!"
"Yes." Elliot quickly turned and left the president's office.
At this moment, he really didn't want to be in front of Frederick.
But just as he passed on Frederick's command, a new problem arose.
His subordinate called to inform him that Frederick's wife had returned and was now at the Rose Garden entrance, seeking a divorce from Frederick!
The Rose Garden was where Frederick and Mrs. Valdemar lived before he went abroad, it was their marital home.
Elliot was surprised. "Are you sure it's Mrs. Valdemar?"
"Yes. No one would dare to lie to Mr. Valdemar's face. It can't be wrong."
Elliot pondered for a moment and didn't dare to delay. He mustered up his courage and returned to the president's office.
“Eric, Mrs. Valdemar has come back. She's waiting for you at the Rose Garden."
"Who?"
"Mrs. Valdemar, your nominal wife."
Frederick took a moment to remember that he had a wife he had never met.
"What is she back for?"
"She's here to divorce you."
Frederick thought, 'I haven't heard from that woman who betrayed me for six years. Why is she suddenly coming to me for a divorce? I don't have any feelings for her, but if I divorce her, what excuse do I have for Alison?'
"Tell her I'm on a business trip. I can't divorce her now. If she wants a divorce, she can wait for me to come back. It's not certain when I'll be back."
If she was a good woman, Frederick would feel ashamed to use her.
But she wasn't a good person, and he didn't feel guilty about using her.
Elliot had been with Frederick for many years, so he understood Frederick. He knew the purpose of Frederick's refusal to divorce. Therefore, he wasn't surprised by his words, he just asked, "Mrs. Valdemar may not believe it. Do you want to have a video call with her in person?"
"No need!" Frederick thought, 'She is an unimportant person. A video call? What a waste of time!'
So he directly refused, after all, he didn't know that his wife was the woman he was looking for.
"Also, don't call her Mrs. Valdemar in the future. Mrs. Valdemar can only be one person. No one else deserves that title."
Elliot knew that Frederick was referring to Dennis's birth mother. "I understand."
On the other side, after Isabella received Frederick's reply, she was stunned!
She thought, 'I don't know when he'll be back, so I don't know when I can get a divorce. How can I take the children with me?'
Isabella was unwilling, so she tried to contact Frederick several times, but she couldn't reach him.
She left the Rose Garden in frustration, feeling very lost.
She couldn't leave for a while. The children's birth certificates couldn't be resolved, and they couldn't enroll in school normally.
And she couldn't find a stable job. Now she doesn't have much money.
And the man who looked like Hugo and Justin and the ten million dollars debt.
Isabella's headache worsened as she thought about it.
She walked to a shady spot and sat down.
She didn't want to go home in this state and worry the children.
She was still thinking about what to do next.
Suddenly, a four or five-year-old child, as if insane, rushed from the opposite side of the road to the main road.
The road was full of moving vehicles. For a moment, the sound of brakes, honking, roaring, and screaming filled the air.
Soon, the child's parents also rushed to the middle of the road. They wanted to pick up the child and leave, but the child didn't cooperate.
He was like an angry little beast, roaring at his parents and pedestrians.
Then, he suddenly raised his small fist and smashed it at a nearby car.
After that, he started hitting himself, slapping himself, and scratching his face. His father forcibly picked him up. The child kept hitting and biting, screaming continuously. His screams were chilling.
Isabella looked at the child and realized that something was wrong. She quickly got up and ran over.
The child had already broken free from his father. His father was angry and anxious, his face turned red. In a fit of rage, he raised his hand and was about to hit the child.
Isabella quickly stopped him. "Calm down. Don't be impulsive."
She looked at the child and squatted down.
She met the child's eyes, opened her arms, and had a gentle expression.
"Don't be afraid. Come to me. I'll hold you and protect you."
The child looked at her with great caution.
Isabella smiled and said, "I won't hurt you. Don't be afraid, come here."
The boy stared at her for a few seconds. Suddenly, he bent down and picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at her.
Isabella couldn't dodge. The stone hit her on the forehead, causing her to gasp in pain.
The child's mother felt very sorry and couldn't help but shed tears.
"Madam, I'm sorry. He has bipolar disorder. He's having an episode, and we can't control him."
"I understand. It's okay. What's his name?"
"His name is Albert Perry. You can call him Albert."
Isabella said, "You scared him. You step aside. Let me comfort him."
Albert's parents, Britney Perry and Benson Perry, looked at Isabella in a daze. In the end, they compromised.
They really had no other way.
