Chapter 144 Shocked, Isabella is Mommy

Dennis furrowed his brow and gave him a look, silently agreeing.

Frederick's face was all serious, "Who told you?"

"That's not the point," Dennis shot back.

But for Frederick, it totally was the point!

Not many folks knew about this stuff back then, and they definitely wouldn't have told Dennis.

He was dying to know who spilled the beans to Dennis.

And why did they even tell him?

But Dennis wasn't budging, and Frederick knew he couldn't force it out of him. After a moment of silence, Frederick asked again, "What do you know?"

Dennis replied, "I want to hear it from you."

The father and son locked eyes. Frederick stayed quiet for a long time before he finally spoke, "You were just a kid, so I didn't plan on telling you about the Valdemar family, but since you're asking, here it is.

Back in the day, when your grandparents were together, your great-grandfather Nicholas was totally against it and did a lot to hurt your grandma. They ended up going abroad and had me there.

I was basically an illegitimate kid of the Valdemar family, but they only have one heir per generation, I was the only one in mine.. So, your great-grandfather had no choice but to bring me back.

But no one in the Valdemar family liked me, including your great-grandfather Nicholas. He treated me just like he treats you, just wanting to use us. We were both his pawns.

Later, to keep me in check, the Valdemar family found me a wife. On the surface, it was for my own good, but in reality...

I wasn't happy with the marriage and had no interest in that woman, but I didn't want to make things hard for her. During the marriage, I took care of her, even though I never showed my face, at least I didn't let her suffer.

Later, when I had full control and came back to the country, I went for a divorce. I planned to give her some money, but it turned out she was unfaithful, so I made her leave with nothing."

Dennis listened quietly. Even though he had some psychological issues, it didn't mean he was dumb.

When he wasn't having an episode, Dennis was pretty normal, just not very talkative, so he had a general idea of the Valdemar family affairs.

He just hadn't dug deep into Frederick's marital history before.

Dennis wasn't really interested in the Valdemar family drama; he furrowed his small brow and asked, "So you were married for two years and never saw your wife?"

"Yep, never saw her! Because I wasn't interested, I never looked into her."

"Then how do you know she was unfaithful?" Dennis asked.

"I heard it from Elliot," Frederick said.

"And how did Elliot know?"

"He heard some things."

"Heard? Did he actually investigate?"

"Not sure."

Dennis was getting frustrated and shouted, "You just heard rumors, didn't bother to check the facts, and labeled her as unfaithful and immoral. Did you ever stop to think, what if you were wrong?"

Frederick was taken aback for a moment. Seeing Dennis's strong reaction, he asked, "Are you thinking of her as your mother?"

Dennis didn't answer that; instead, he shot back, "Is she my mother?"

"Of course not. I never met her, let alone touched her."

Dennis furrowed his small brow tightly, asking word by word, "Are you sure you never touched her?"

"Sure!" Frederick said confidently.

Dennis's thin lips pressed tightly together. If he never touched her, where did Hugo and Justin come from?

It seemed Hugo was right; Frederick really didn't know Isabella was his wife! He also didn't know that the person he had relations with at the airport that day was Isabella!

Dennis didn't directly mention Isabella but shifted the topic to his own mom. He questioned, "Then what about my mom? How did you meet my mom? How did I come to be? I want the truth; don't lie to me with those made-up stories again!"

Seeing his son's serious face, Frederick pursed his lips and stayed quiet for a moment before deciding to come clean. "I did lie to you before. I don't know your mom, I don't even know who she is. You were conceived from a one-night stand."

Dennis's breath hitched, his eyes widening in shock. He looked at Frederick in disbelief.

Frederick continued, "Back then, when I came back to take over the Valdemar Group, I stepped on some toes. They sent assassins after me, and I got drugged by accident. Things were urgent, and I didn't have time to get to a hospital, so I ended up with your mom.

It was dark, so I didn't see her face clearly. When the danger passed and I went to find her, she was already gone. So for the past six years, I've been looking for her, but I couldn't find her because I didn't even know what she looked like."

Dennis was stunned. This was just like Hugo and Justin's mom's story!

"Did you have relations with her at the airport?" he asked further.

"Yes."

Dennis suddenly stood up from his chair, holding his breath, and asked, "On the day you came back to the country?!"

"Yes."

Dennis was floored.

Hugo said Frederick had relations with Isabella at the airport on the day he came back to the country!

Now, Frederick said he had relations with his mom at the airport on the day he came back to the country!

What did this mean?

Dennis's breathing started to get rapid as he questioned, "How many women did you have relations with that day?"

Seeing Dennis so worked up, Frederick got nervous and stood up, afraid something might happen to him.

"Dennis, calm down. You can't get too agitated; you'll have an episode..."

"Answer me!" Dennis almost roared, his small face turning red.

Frederick looked at him seriously and said, "I only had relations with your mom that day, and she's the only one I've ever been with in my life!"

Dennis held his breath again, staring straight at Frederick.

He only had relations with mom...

So, Isabella is mom!

Dennis's whole body started trembling violently, even his lips were quivering.

Suddenly, Dennis let out a laugh, and the next second, he burst into tears.

Frederick was stunned and quickly pulled Dennis into his arms, saying, "Dennis!"

Frederick was both shocked and panicked, unable to understand. He had just said he only had relations with his mom in his life, so why was Dennis crying?

And Dennis had never cried like this before!

In the past, Dennis only cried when he had an episode, in extreme agitation, pain, and discomfort.

Today, he didn't seem to be having an episode; he was crying like a normal kid, reaching an emotional peak and crying out loud.

His crying was filled with grievance, joy, and something indescribable.

Frederick couldn't figure it out, so he could only comfort Dennis, "Dennis, you can tell dad anything on your mind. I'll listen carefully to whatever you say, and I'll answer any questions you have seriously. I won't lie to you anymore. Just calm down, okay?"

"Isabella!" Dennis cried uncontrollably.

Frederick quickly asked, "Are you missing Isabella?"

Dennis nodded frantically, saying, "Yes! I miss her so much."

"Then I'll call her to come over and be with you right now!"

Dennis shook his head frantically as he cried, "It's dark and the roads are slippery!"

"You're worried it's not safe for her to come over now? Then how about I take you to find her?"

"Yes! Find her!" Dennis cried even harder in Frederick's arms.

In his heart, he kept calling out, 'mom...'
