Chapter 93 Do You Think Frederick Would Allow You to Threaten Him?
After a bit, Isabella's breathing got all quick and shaky, and a thin layer of cold sweat popped up on her forehead.
Frederick frowned, "Isabella!"
Isabella's eyes were red, "Dennis is in a really bad place! Really bad!"
Frederick held his breath, trying to keep it together, "What's wrong with him?!"
"Dennis has no light, no water, no life, and nothing positive in his heart. Just endless fog and sandstorms. He's lying in a desolate desert, covered in wounds, barely hanging on. He's almost gone."
Frederick's mind buzzed, "What do you mean almost gone? Explain clearly!"
"The Dennis in his mental world is almost gone. When he can't hold on anymore, the Dennis in reality will..."
"Will what?"
"Will die!"
Frederick's breath hitched, and he was stunned for a long time.
Isabella said, "When Dennis loses vitality and faith in his mind, he loses the will to live in reality. He will try every possible way to commit suicide. This is the ultimate outcome for most children with severe psychological disorders."
"It shouldn't be! I lied to him that I found his birth mother. Shouldn't he be excited and hopeful? Why is he still covered in wounds?"
"You lied to him that you found his mother?"
"Yes."
"Maybe Dennis doesn't believe you and knows you're lying. Or maybe he subconsciously thinks that as long as his mom hasn't come back, it means she hasn't been found, and he needs to keep searching. To solve the current predicament, he needs to actually find his mother."
Frederick fell silent.
The room was quiet for a long time until the alarm outside broke the silence.
It was 6:30, Dennis's wake-up time, but he hadn't woken up yet.
Isabella explained, "I just hypnotized him. He needs to sleep a bit longer."
Frederick didn't speak.
Isabella didn't know what to say either. Dennis wouldn't let her get close, so she couldn't provide him with psychological counseling.
Psychological issues can't be cured solely with medication.
After a long time, seeing that Dennis was about to wake up, Isabella got up to leave, "I'll go back, in case he gets agitated when he wakes up and sees me."
Frederick glanced at Dennis and followed Isabella out of the room.
"You don't need to see me off," Isabella said, seeing that he was also heading out.
Frederick didn't respond, just took a scarf from the rack by the door and tossed it to her.
It obviously belonged to a kid, soft and fluffy, with a little monster pattern on it.
It must be Dennis's.
Isabella was stunned, "You called me up here just to give me this?"
Frederick kept silent, closing the door before he went downstairs.
For a while, then she followed him downstairs.
Frederick was still standing in the same spot, smoking a cigarette silently.
Isabella looked at him and felt a bit sorry for him at the moment. Perhaps as a fellow parent, she could understand the feelings of a parent when something happens to their child.
But she couldn't help him now, so she could only say, "If Dennis acts weird after waking up, call me. If he gets really agitated, give him the medicine I gave you. Try not to use sedatives."
Frederick smoked silently, not speaking.
Isabella took the scarf he gave her and left. At the corner, she couldn't help but look back.
In the freezing weather, amidst the white snow, he stood there alone, frowning and smoking, giving off a sense of desolation.
If his demeanor wasn't so tough, but a bit softer, it would be a picture of complete brokenness.
Isabella frowned and pouted, unable to describe her feelings.
She didn't want him to have a good time, so she couldn't say she felt sorry for him, but she wasn't exactly thrilled either.
Isabella had once read about a case online where a father, to avoid dealing with his bipolar child, cruelly chained him up like a dog in a cage.
When the child was found, he was curled up in a corner, dirty, cold, and lifeless.
Some people are parents.
And some people are monsters.
She didn't know Eric well, and he might be the one who humiliated her years ago, so she had a lot of hostility towards him.
Eric might not be a good person, but he was definitely a good father.
You could tell from how much he cared about Dennis.
Isabella walked to her bike, brushed off the snow, hesitated for a moment, then wrapped the scarf he gave her around her neck and left the community.
The scarf was soft and warm.
As soon as Isabella left, a photo of her standing in the corner spying on Frederick was sent to Alison's phone.
Alison shouted, "Bitch! How dare she try to seduce Frederick! Dad said I was overreacting, that I was being unreasonable. Mom, look, did I wrong her?!"
Donna Martin squinted at the photo, her gaze fierce.
Donna was Alison's mother, nearly fifty but well-maintained, looking at most forty.
She was Bruce's second wife, a classic case of a mistress taking over.
The second year she became Bruce's mistress, his first wife died
The year she married Bruce and gave birth to Alison, his son died.
The story behind this couldn't be explained in a few words.
One sentence could describe Donna: she was ruthless and smart!
Donna had gone to another city for a gathering recently and returned after Alison's incident.
Bruce had called her back to take care of Alison.
"Say something, Mom. Do you see the way she looks at Frederick? No way! I have to find a way to get rid of her!"
Alison said as she was about to make a call, but Donna snatched her phone away, "How many times have I told you, stay calm when things happen, don't act on impulse. Do you know this woman? Have you looked into her relationship with Frederick?"
Alison was furious.
"Do I need to? It's obvious she's trying to seduce Frederick!"
Donna pursed her lips, "Know your enemy and know yourself, and you won't lose any battles. If you don't understand her and go straight to confront her, you'll suffer! And you dare to directly deal with her? What happened to the Brown family didn't scare you? Do you remember Frederick's warning? If you keep being impulsive, the Walter family will become the next Brown family!"
Alison glared, "Impossible! I saved Dennis's life. Frederick wouldn't treat me like that! Besides, it was Douglas who bankrupted the Brown family, not Frederick!"
"Foolish! The Brown family incident wouldn't have happened without Frederick's pressure behind the scenes. Douglas wouldn't have acted so ruthlessly. And stop talking about your life-saving grace to Dennis. Some favors are better left unsaid. If you keep mentioning it, it becomes a threat. Do you think Frederick will allow you to threaten him?!"
"Then what should I do? That bitch Isabella is clearly here with a plan. She's only been here a few days, and Frederick is already protecting her. If we don't deal with her soon, they might end up together!"
"They won't. Frederick is yours. I won't let him be with any other woman." As soon as Donna finished speaking, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen, her eyes narrowing.
