Chapter 207 Isabella's Been Drinking?
Hugo seemed thoughtful. He then said, "There's a way, but it's not perfect. Let me think it over. Once I've got a solid plan, I'll let you know."
Everyone nodded again.
Dennis raised a doubt, asking, "Are you sure this mysterious person isn't the one who saved you in the mountains?"
He still thought the rescuer in the mountains was the most suspicious.
Hugo, however, answered as confidently as last time, "It definitely won't be them. They're all good people. You'll understand when you meet them someday."
Justin added, "All they think about is saving people, not harming them. They even warned me not to get into fights easily when we left."
Paul nodded repeatedly, uttering, "They're as kind as Mommy."
Seeing how certain Hugo, Justin, and Paul were, Dennis dismissed his doubts but still said worriedly, "This mysterious person is probably targeting Daddy. I suspect he has a grudge against him!"
Hugo agreed, "Do you have any suspects?"
"No, over the years, there haven't been many who wished Daddy well, but plenty who wanted him dead. Investigating from Daddy's side is a dead end."
Dennis suddenly looked at Hugo, Justin, and Paul, changing the subject. "I know you have issues with Daddy, but he's really pitiful. He's been surrounded by schemes and malice for years, living a hard life every day."
Justin, who had the biggest grudge against Frederick, pouted and said nothing.
Hugo spoke gently, "With greater power comes greater danger, as it has always been. However, do not worry too much about him; he possesses the capability to handle those perils."
Dennis said solemnly, "More than worry, I feel sorry for him."
He knew in his heart how good Frederick was to him. Frederick loved and cared for him, and he loved and cared for Frederick in return.
Over the years, Frederick seemed to be in the limelight but was actually lonely and helpless.
Hugo gently patted Dennis's shoulder in comfort and asked, "I've investigated the Valdemar Family. With Frederick's power, he could easily destroy Nicholas and his people, but he hasn't. Do you know why?"
Dennis replied, "Daddy seems to be investigating something within the Valdemar Family, but I don't know the details. I guess his reluctance to act harshly is related to his investigation.
"By the way, unless absolutely necessary, don't let the Valdemar Family know about your existence. They're ruthless, and they can't even tolerate me alone.
"If they find out about you, they'll go crazy and try everything to eliminate you! They'll do anything for their interests!"
At this point, Justin perked up and said irritably, "Let them come! Let's see if they can even touch a hair on my head! I've been itching for a fight!"
Justin had been in a bad mood lately and was looking for a chance to practice.
Hugo spoke, "Dennis is right. For now, we need to keep our identities hidden and avoid being discovered by the Valdemar Family. It's not that we're afraid of them, but for Mommy and our plan.
"The Valdemar Family is easy to deal with, nothing to fear, but they're annoying like flies. If we can avoid wasting energy on them, we should. By the way, Dennis, is it true that the Valdemar Family has only one heir per generation?"
"Yes! I know this for sure. You can verify it by checking the Valdemar Family tree. So, both the Valdemar Family and Daddy always thought I was the only heir, never considering there might be others," said Dennis.
"So, Mommy having multiple children was unexpected."
"Exactly. If the Valdemar Family finds out about you, they'll go mad."
Hugo said, "Let's keep it from them for now and handle our affairs. Since Mother has agreed to spend time with Frederick, we should use this opportunity to thoroughly investigate those events from years ago, as well as look into that mysterious person."
"Yeah!"
Although the 'mysterious person sending cake' incident was a small hiccup, overall, everyone was happy today.
They had a lively reunion dinner together.
Isabella was in an exceptionally good mood and even drank two bottles of red wine with Freya.
At 8 PM, Frederick came to pick them up. The cheerful atmosphere suddenly turned somber.
Freya had drunk too much, and Isabella was taking care of her in the bedroom while the kids said their goodbyes in the living room.
The kids were deeply bonded and reluctant to part, with Paul even crying.
Dennis's eyes were red too, and he wiped Paul's tears, uttering, "Don't cry, we'll see each other again."
Justin stood aside and secretly pulled Blizzard out of his sleeve, remarking, "Blizzard, you'll stay with Mommy these days and protect her! Don't let Frederick get close to her! Got it?"
Blizzard was still sleeping and barely opened its eyes.
Justin flicked its head to wake it up. "Wake up! I'm telling you something important!"
Blizzard, feeling the pain, opened its eyes and looked at Justin with displeasure.
Justin said, "I can't be with Mommy all the time to protect her, so I have to rely on you. Be smart! There will be a reward if you do well!"
Blizzard flicked its tongue as if asking what the reward was.
Justin, dissatisfied, said, "We're brothers. My Mommy is your Mommy. You want a reward for protecting your Mommy? You ungrateful child!"
Justin grumbled but still leaned close to Blizzard and whispered something only they could hear. Blizzard's head perked up immediately.
Its entire black body turned white! It looked very excited!
Justin, feeling smug, said, "I promise to keep my word!"
Blizzard nudged his hand with its head, as if saying: We make a deal!
Justin was completely relieved. With Blizzard protecting Mommy, nothing would happen to her!
"Also, I'm only asking you to protect Mommy, not to do anything else. Be careful and don't cause any deaths. Mommy said that life is precious, and we should strive to be good citizens in a civilized society, not harm anyone!"
Blizzard flicked its tongue at him again and slithered away.
After Isabella came out of the bedroom, she gave Hugo, Justin, and Paul a few instructions and then took Dennis downstairs.
Frederick was waiting for them downstairs. He had met with Douglas today, but hadn't drunk any alcohol. He was still pondering how to steal Isabella's sample for a paternity test. This matter was weighing heavily on his mind!
Seeing the two come down, he extinguished his cigarette.
As Isabella and Dennis approached, he smelled the alcohol on Isabella.
Isabella had been drinking? Frederick squinted slightly, a glint flashing in his eyes.
