Chapter 72 Still Can't Let Him Go

Freya was taken aback. "You saw Dennis this morning, right? How come you didn't get to chat?"

Isabella sighed and filled her in on Dennis's meltdown.

Freya was stunned. "Is he violent?"

"He's got bipolar disorder, so he's prone to impulsive behavior. When he has an episode, he can get violent, break stuff, and even hurt himself."

Freya said, "I usually work with healthy kids. I've never dealt with anything like this."

"Yeah, kids with mental health issues usually don't go to kindergarten. They tend to isolate themselves," Isabella explained.

Freya sighed, "I wish all kids could be okay."

Isabella sighed too. "Dennis's situation is really tough."

"So, what's Dennis's dad saying now? Dennis won't let you near him, so is he done with you?"

"Probably. He hasn't reached out since I left. He likely thinks I can't help Dennis and has given up on me."

Freya said, "It's good he gave up. You didn't want to deal with him anyway."

Isabella nodded. "Yeah."

But she felt weird inside. She didn't want to interact with Eric, but his silence made her anxious. Thinking about Dennis made her uneasy.

Freya said, "The architecture industry is super competitive now. There are more designers than jobs. Many firms are going bankrupt and not paying wages. If you ask me, you should consider children's education or special education. It's more in demand."

Isabella snapped out of her thoughts. "Yeah, I've been looking into special education exams. I need to get certified first."

"Exactly. Without a certification, no one will trust you. You're lucky you met Albert and helped him. It's boosted your reputation. If you stay in Teronica, your career could really take off. Albert can connect you to many resources."

Isabella got what Freya meant. There were always kids like Albert and Dennis who needed help. Parents in their circle shared information, and her success with Albert had enhanced her reputation. More parents would likely seek her help.

Though Isabella wished all kids were healthy, many needed help. She could help them and make a living. It was like being a doctor.

If she stayed in Teronica, her career could flourish. But not having a certification was a problem. Plus, she didn't want to live in this city with the kids. It had too many bad memories.

Isabella shook her head. "I still want to leave Teronica and live somewhere else."

Freya understood. "I'll support you no matter what. With modern transportation, I can always visit you."

Isabella smiled. "Yeah."

They had lunch together, then Freya went back to school, and Isabella headed home.

Once she got home, Isabella borrowed Freya's computer, got the password, and logged in. She started digging around for cases similar to Dennis's. She couldn't get him out of her head. Maybe it was because he reminded her of Hugo and Justin.

Dennis's situation made her anxious. One little thing could set him off, and he even threatened people by pointing a fork at his neck. His suicidal tendencies were getting stronger. If he didn't get help soon, something serious could happen.

She hoped to help Dennis before she left. Even if she couldn't cure him, stabilizing his condition would be good enough. But after searching all day, she found nothing useful.

When she saw that Freya and the kids were about to come back, she turned off the computer and went to the kitchen to cook.

By the time Freya, Hugo, Justin, and Paul got home, dinner was ready. The kids excitedly told her about their day at kindergarten.

"Do you like kindergarten?" she asked.

"Yes! But we miss you. It'd be great if you were there too."

Isabella smiled and pinched Justin's nose. "You go to kindergarten to learn. What would I do there? The teachers wouldn't want to teach me."

"You could be a teacher, like Freya."

"Not everyone can be a teacher like Freya," Isabella explained.

"Why not?"

"Because you need a degree and certification, which I don't have," she said.

"Does Freya have them?" they asked.

"Of course, she does. Otherwise, how could she work there?" Isabella replied.

Justin and Paul looked at Freya with admiration. "Freya is amazing!"

Freya was thrilled. "Calm down, calm down. It's no big deal. I have many amazing stories. Want to hear about my heroic deeds and legendary life?"

"Yes! Yes!"

Justin and Paul were instantly captivated, eyes wide with anticipation. Freya finally got the chance to brag.

Hugo, being more mature, wasn't interested in Freya's stories. He asked Isabella, "Mommy, do you have something on your mind?"

"What?"

"You look worried, like something's bothering you."

Isabella looked at him lovingly. "Hugo, you're so observant. I do have something on my mind. Today, I met a boy who looks a lot like you and Justin. He's about your age but not happy at all."

"Why?"

"Because he doesn't have a mommy. He misses her so much that he's developed psychological issues. He gets irritable, isolated, and even self-harms."

Hugo furrowed his brows. "Where is his mommy?"

"I don't know. When I saw him today, I wanted to help. I hoped he could be as happy as you, but he doesn't like strangers and resisted me, so I couldn't."

"Are you thinking about how to help him?"

"Yes, but I haven't thought of a good way yet."

"I have an idea."
