Chapter 27 They Are Waiting for Dennis to Die!
'They're not related by blood. '
Frederick's expression was complex as he looked at the DNA test results.
He didn't know what to feel. In a way, he was prepared for this outcome.
If Isabella was indeed Dennis's biological mother, there was no reason for her to not tell the truth.
After all, from every angle, acknowledging Dennis would benefit her the most.
Still, Frederick couldn't help but ask, "You did this yourself?"
"Yes, I didn't even let my assistant help," Elijah replied.
Frederick furrowed his brow, not saying anything.
He put the report in a file and handed it to Elliot before turning back to Dennis's ward.
Elijah was a bit puzzled. "Whose DNA test results are those?"
"I guess it's Ms. Beniere's and Dennis's," Elliot replied.
Elijah's eyes widened. "Frederick suspects that Ms. Beniere is Dennis's mother? Why would he think that? Dennis doesn't even resemble Ms. Beniere."
"Maybe it was the kiss at the bar that triggered some memories," Elliot suggested.
Elijah was even more shocked. "Ms. Beniere kissed him?"
Elliot nodded knowingly. "And he didn't refuse."
"Really? Has he finally come to his senses?"
"I think there's a possibility. Let's be nicer to Ms. Beniere from now on. Maybe she can save Frederick and become Mrs. Valdemar."
No sooner had Elliot finished speaking than his phone rang.
It was the bodyguard. "Elliot, we found Ms. Beniere. She's with Nicholas."
Elliot was taken aback. "With who?"
"Nicholas."
Elliot was stunned. Just as he had mentioned the possibility of her becoming Frederick's woman, she went off with the enemy.
After hanging up the phone, Elliot walked into the ward and whispered to Frederick, "Eric, Ms. Beniere is having coffee with Nicholas."
Frederick's face darkened, his eyes filled with anger.
...
Meanwhile, Isabella was unaware that she had become entangled in a web of conflicts and that Frederick had misunderstood her once again.
She had been chatting with Freya when she suddenly received a call from an unknown number, claiming that they needed to talk about something important.
When she arrived, she saw an elderly man with white hair.
The man said some strange things and, before leaving, forcefully handed her $20,000.
$20,000!
Isabella's heart raced with nervousness.
It was the first time she had seen so much money!
She admitted that she was materialistic and loved money, but she wouldn't just take money for no reason.
They were strangers, so why would they give her so much money?
Isabella felt anxious but after a moment of hesitation, she took the money and went to the hospital.
Dennis was still resting, and Frederick glanced at her with a cold expression.
Isabella's heart pounded. She had no idea about the paternity test or the conflicts between Frederick and the Valdemar family.
She just found this man to be inexplicably quick-tempered.
Now, his gaze towards her had changed again, colder than when they first met.
Clearly, he had looked at her differently before.
Isabella didn't dwell on his unusual behavior.
She cleared her throat and went straight to the point, "Today, a thin, tall, white-haired old man approached me and mentioned your son, Dennis. He gave me $20,000 before leaving. I think he might be your grandfather. Since I couldn't reach him, I thought I'd ask you to return the money to him. I can't accept it."
Frederick knew she was talking about Nicholas but looked at her with a complex expression.
He didn't expect her to come and talk about Nicholas finding her!
"You couldn't reach him? You don't know him?"
"No, that's why I asked you to help me return the money!"
Frederick was speechless.
Isabella looked at him, half-believing, and said, "I have no connection with him. If I knew him, would I need to hide it from you?"
"What did he tell you?"
"He asked me if I was treating Dennis, and I said no. He asked me if I was a child psychologist, and I said no. Then he said that if you pay me, he will pay me double, saying he wants to make a deal with me, but he refuses to say what the deal is."
Frederick remained silent.
Isabella said, "If you want to know more, go ask him. I'm confused too. Anyway, I gave you the money, so don't come to me if there's a problem in the future."
Elijah happened to come in, and to be on the safe side, Isabella asked Elijah to help her make a video as proof that she gave the money to Frederick.
Frederick looked at her with a suspicious look, a little confused by her actions.
He thought she was in cahoots with Nicholas.
Isabella didn't care what he was thinking. She felt relieved after giving the money.
She looked at Dennis on the hospital bed and reached out her hand.
Frederick immediately grabbed her wrist and demanded, "What are you doing?!"
Isabella was startled by his stern tone.
"I... I wanted to check on him."
Frederick glared at her; his face full of malice.
Elijah coughed to ease the tension, "Thank you, Ms. Beniere."
Frederick held her hand tightly for a long time before letting go.
Isabella was angry, "If it weren't for her concern for Dennis, she wouldn't have interfered!"
'He really doesn't know how to be grateful!'
Isabella cursed in her heart, but she still carefully examined Dennis's body.
