Chapter 61 Because You Owe Me Money
So, today the Perry family took Albert to Wavecrest Restaurant for a meal.
What did this mean?
It meant Albert was doing better. He wasn't showing signs of autism anymore and could go out like any other kid.
Frederick was surprised and checked the news on his phone.
Sure enough, the news about Albert dining at Wavecrest was trending.
Even though Isabella's face was blurred in the photos, Frederick recognized her right away.
No doubt, Albert's progress was thanks to Isabella!
Frederick stared at his phone for a bit, then went to his study and called Elijah.
"Did Isabella visit Albert at the hospital today?"
"Yeah, why? Didn't you say not to mention her? Why are you asking now?"
Frederick, looking serious, changed the subject.
"Albert can go out to eat now? He's recovering fast?"
"Yeah, all thanks to Ms. Beniere. I told you she was amazing, but you didn't believe me!"
Frederick stayed silent.
Elijah continued, "Just wait, the Perry family will soon hire Ms. Beniere with a high salary."
Frederick frowned and hung up.
He thought for a while, then grabbed his car keys and left.
After dinner, Isabella returned to Freya's neighborhood.
Before she came back, Freya had texted her, saying she had moved everything to her place.
Freya had found them a place to stay and arranged for Hugo, Justin, and Paul to go to school.
Freya, being a kindergarten teacher, arranged for Hugo, Justin, and Paul to temporarily attend her school.
Isabella felt grateful to Freya as she walked towards the neighborhood.
Unexpectedly, she saw Eric after just a few steps!
He was sitting in his car, smoking. The window was down, and she could see his handsome face and the hand holding the cigarette outside the window.
And the scratch marks on his chin that she had made.
Isabella's heart skipped a beat.
What was he doing here?
Why did he come here?
Hugo and Justin were in this neighborhood!
No, if he had found Hugo and Justin, he wouldn't be outside alone; he would have already taken them away!
Even if he wasn't sure they were his sons, with an eighty percent resemblance, he would have taken Hugo and Justin for a DNA test.
So, he hadn't found Hugo and Justin!
Then why was he here? To find her?
She had just moved in tonight; how did he know she was here?
Maybe he didn't know she was here?
Maybe he was just visiting other friends, not looking for her?
Thinking this, Isabella quickly took out a mask from her bag, put it on, lowered her head, and walked into the neighborhood, pretending not to see him.
The closer she got to him, the more nervous she became.
As she was about to pass by him, Isabella silently chanted, "You can't see me, you can't see me!"
"Stop!"
Isabella hunched her shoulders, pretending not to hear, and kept walking.
"Do you want me to get out of the car to invite you? Isabella!"
Gritting her teeth, she couldn't escape being called out. She stopped, turned around with a wary look, and asked, "What do you want?"
"Get in the car!"
"Why should I get in the car? If you have something to say, say it. If not, I'm leaving."
Frederick frowned, his gaze as sharp as ice.
Isabella's heart skipped a beat again, realizing she was in a vulnerable position. She reluctantly got into his car.
As soon as she got in, she snapped, "I warned you today, if you mess with me again, I'll fight you! And look, there are two security guards at the entrance. The security here is tough. If you try anything, I'll scream."
Frederick glanced at her with disdain and said, "Come to my house tomorrow."
"What?"
"To take care of Dennis."
Isabella blinked, confused.
"What do you mean?"
Frederick flicked his cigarette ash, the smoke mixing with the air, making Isabella cough a few times.
Frederick frowned but put out his cigarette.
"Elijah said you understand child psychology and know some medical skills. You know Dennis's situation; he has bipolar disorder. Starting tomorrow, you'll be his nanny and take care of him."
Frederick no longer doubted Isabella, and Dennis's condition was worsening, leaving no room for hesitation.
So Frederick came today.
Isabella was shocked.
Was he asking her for a favor?
Was this his attitude when asking for help?
She thought he was here to silence her!
Knowing his purpose, Isabella felt a bit more confident.
"I understand your feelings. Any parent would do anything to cure their child, but I can't agree to your request."
Before Isabella could finish, Frederick impatiently interrupted her.
"I didn't come here to request, I came to command."
Eyes wide, Isabella retorted, "Command? What gives you the right to command me?!"
He replied indifferently, "Because you owe me money."
Isabella fell silent, like a wilted plant.
Her earlier confidence had vanished.
Isabella said, "I told you before, your girlfriend hit my son first, and my son scratched your car in return. So that money should cancel out, right? We're even."
A hint of mockery flashed in Frederick's eyes. He didn't explain his relationship with Alison, only said, "Whoever hit your son, you go find them. Your son damaged my car, so I come to you. If you have any objections, see you in court."
Isabella pursed her lips and glared at him, wanting to hit him!
Frederick, with his handsome face, looked at her and said, "Either pay me back now or go to my house as a nanny tomorrow. Your choice."
Isabella fumed.
"You know I don't have the money, so do I really have a choice?"
"Alright, then go to my house as a nanny tomorrow."
"What if I refuse?"
"I'll call the police."
"You!"
"I'll give you one minute. If you can't decide, I'll call the police."
"You know you're bullying me, right?"
"I don't know. I only know that it's a principle to repay debts. Don't think you can get away with it."
Isabella fell silent.
Frederick looked at his watch and started timing.
Isabella's heart beat with each tick of the second hand.
Seeing the minute almost up, she quickly said, "I'll go! I'll go to your house tomorrow!"
Frederick remained expressionless, not surprised by the outcome. He started the car and said, "Tomorrow morning, someone will come to pick you up. Get out!"
Isabella, cheeks puffed in anger, bit her lip to maintain her last bit of pride.
"Don't come too early. After 8:30!"
Frederick gave her a look and ignored her.
As soon as Isabella's feet touched the ground, the car sped off, splashing snow all over her.
Breathing heavily with anger, she cursed at his taillights for a while before heading home.
