Chapter 194 Frederick, Did Isabella Slap You?

Frederick went to the end of the hallway to smoke, with Douglas joining him.

As soon as they started smoking, Douglas asked, "Did Isabella slap you?"

Frederick's face was cold, and Douglas laughed as he said, "There's a slap mark on your face. It looks painful."

"If she slaps me, I take it. None of your business!"

"Alright, you're proud of getting hit! I can't compare to you, but no one hits me."

Douglas teased him a bit and then asked, "Are you sure Isabella is really Dennis's mother?"

"Yes!"

"Didn't Elijah say the paternity test results aren't out yet?"

Frederick frowned as he remarked, "My intuition is never wrong!"

Douglas let out a long breath, saying, "As long as you're sure! Don't you think you should thank me? If it weren't for my plan to get you to her house, would any of this have happened? Could you have found her? No way!"

Frederick ignored him, and Douglas pursed his lips as he spoke, "Alright. Was it not just taking the liberty to leave your drunken self with a woman? And yet, you still hold a grudge? Isabella slapped you, and you didn't even get angry!"

"You can't compare to her. When she slaps me, I worry about her hand hurting."

"What if I slap you?"

"I'd break your hand!"

Douglas uttered helplessly, "Alright, you're truly impressive!"

"I pale in comparison to you."

The two bickered like children, but it was clear that Frederick was in a good mood.

And why not? After searching for six years, he finally found the woman he was looking for. Even if she didn't treat him well, he was still happy.

Douglas said, "Anyway, Dennis is fine now. How about we hit the bar tonight?"

"No."

"What?"

"Spending time with Isabella," Frederick said as he stubbed out his cigarette and turned to walk back to the hospital room.

Douglas watched his tall figure walk away, utterly speechless. Prioritizing romantic affairs over friendships was something Frederick now fully comprehended!

Douglas flicked the ash off his cigarette and looked at the half-smoked cigarette Frederick had just stubbed out, reflecting inwardly, "A man who rarely gets involved in love, once he does, it's uncontrollable, and he falls hard! This kind of man is the most devoted and also the most easily hurt!'

Frederick was a typical example of this kind of man!

Douglas let out a long breath, hoping that this time, they hadn't made a mistake. Frederick's world was already full of scars; it was time someone helped mend it.

Before Frederick returned to the hospital room, he didn't dare disturb Isabella. Instead, he stood by the window, looking inside with deep affection.

It wasn't until lunchtime that he pushed the door open and reminded Isabella, "It's time to eat."

Isabella's emotions had stabilized by now. She looked up at Frederick, her brows tightly knit.

When she confirmed that Dennis was her son, she made a bold decision.

She wanted to take Dennis away from him and leave Teronica together!

This idea was selfish, but she still wanted to execute it.

Emotionally, she knew Dennis was her biological son. As a mother, she couldn't leave her son behind and run away alone!

Rationally, she was skilled in child psychology and medicine. Dennis would be safest with her!

She knew that taking Dennis from him was like pulling teeth from a tiger's mouth; it's very dangerous!

But she wasn't afraid. After all, no one can leave this world alive, so why not be bold?

Frederick didn't know what she was thinking. Seeing her not respond, he reminded her again, "Isabella, it's lunchtime."

Isabella sniffed and pulled herself out of her thoughts, moving her gaze away from his face as she said, "I don't want to eat. You go ahead."

She didn't want to talk to him, not at all, but she knew that if she wanted to secretly take Dennis away, she would have to deal with him.

Frederick urged her, "You have to eat something, even if it's just a little."

"I have no appetite. I don't want to eat. I'll stay with Dennis. You all go ahead on your own!"

Frederick looked at her with a complicated expression as he asked, "Is it because you're worried about Dennis, or are you mad at me?"

Isabella's brows furrowed, and she suddenly got angry, shouting, "Why would I be mad at you?"

"What I did back then was wrong. I'm sorry."

"Sorry? Do you think your 'sorry' is worth anything?! Anyone can say 'sorry.' It's worthless. And if you've already done something wrong, it is meaningless."

Frederick's face looked pained as he inquired, "Then what do you think I should do to make it meaningful?"

"You don't need to do anything or say anything. I don't want to hear it."

"So you finally admit that it was you back then?"

Isabella, now very angry, continued to deny it, "I'm just speaking from a woman's perspective. Once the harm is done, what's the point of apologizing? You have to feel the same pain to truly apologize!"

Frederick frowned deeply, remarked, "If I could, I would be willing to suffer ten times, a hundred times more than you, just to make up for the pain you endured! You can hurt me any way you want!"

Isabella emphasized, "It's not me; it's her!"

Frederick looked at her stubborn denial, very confused as he asked, "Isabella, is it really that hard to admit it was you back then?"

It wasn't hard, but she couldn't bear the consequences.

If she admitted it, he would never let her and Dennis go! And it might even expose Hugo, Justin, and Paul!

Isabella avoided his gaze, still refusing to admit it. She said, "I don't know what happened to you back then! Stop talking to me. I really don't want to argue with you right now. I just want to quietly stay with Dennis."

Frederick stared at her for a few seconds, then said in a deep voice, "I had a paternity test done for you and Dennis. The results will be out tomorrow."

Isabella was stunned, her heart immediately racing. She knew he would do this!

Her fists clenched involuntarily, and she gritted her teeth, uttering, "Then talk to me tomorrow!"

"Isabella, what are you afraid of?"

"I'm not afraid of anything!"

"If you're not afraid, why won't you admit it?"

Isabella snapped as she retorted, "What makes you say it was me? What evidence do you have? Forget it, I don't want to argue with you. Just leave me alone."

"Isabella..."

"Get out!"

Frederick stood still, and Isabella coldly said again, "I need to study Dennis's case. I need a quiet environment. Your presence is disturbing me. Please leave!"

Frederick knew she didn't want to talk to him or see him!

He was also angry, but he held it in. "I'll leave, but you have to eat!"

He placed the lunch he had bought from Wavecrest Restaurant next to Isabella, forcibly took her to the bathroom, and supervised her as she washed her face and hands.

Then he made her eat a little before leaving.

He didn't say much more, merely waiting for the paternity test results to come out tomorrow, so he could talk to her properly with the report!
