Chapter 90 Want to Pursue Her?

In the evening, Isabella whipped up a bunch of tasty dishes.

She even packed a portion for Dennis and hit up Douglas to grab it from the community gate.

Douglas was super touched, "Thanks a ton, really appreciate it."

He handed over a fancy handbag with the Hermès logo on it, clearly worth a lot.

"This is a little something to thank you for making food for Dennis."

Isabella waved it off, "No need, just set up a meeting with Frederick for me tomorrow."

"Don't worry, it's all set. He'll be there on time."

Isabella felt relieved, "Take the gift back, I don't need it. Also, tell Dennis's dad he can call me for anything about Dennis from now on. Stop following me!"

Douglas raised an eyebrow, "He's been following you?"

Isabella didn't bother explaining.

"Get the food to Dennis before it gets cold. Bye." She wrapped herself in her coat and headed back into the community.

Douglas got into the limited edition Maybach parked by the curb with the food container.

Frederick was in the car, smoking.

Douglas hopped in and asked, "Have you been following Isabella?"

Frederick frowned, "What did she say?"

"She said you want to pursue her!"

Frederick's face darkened, his expression turning icy.

The next second, he suddenly pushed open the car door like he was about to go find Isabella and clear things up.

Douglas quickly stopped him.

"Why so serious? Can't take a joke? Sit down. Isabella didn't say that! But she did say you can call her about Dennis and stop following her."

Frederick didn't say a word.

Seeing him pull his long legs back in and close the door, Douglas teased, "Starting to follow her, huh? You must really like Isabella now?"

"Get lost!"

Back at Sunnyvale Community, Douglas and Frederick went upstairs together.

Dennis was still sitting by the window, with John keeping him company.

Seeing Frederick return, John quickly greeted, "Mr. Valdemar, Douglas."

"Okay, you can go now," Frederick replied.

After John left, Douglas walked over to Dennis and said, "Hey, Dennis, I came to see you."

Dennis didn't even look at him, treating him like he was invisible.

Douglas wanted to ruffle Dennis's little head, but Dennis dodged and even glared at him.

Douglas felt both helpless and heartbroken.

Frederick called out, "I made your favorite bagels, come and have some?"

Hearing this, Dennis got up, washed his hands in the bathroom, and sat at the dining table.

Frederick laid out the food one by one, including the morning's bagels and eggs, plus a sandwich and salad.

There were lots of options, but not huge portions.

Douglas commented, "Looks good, but none for you, huh?"

Obviously, Isabella only made food for Dennis.

Frederick shot Douglas a look to shut him up.

Under the watchful eyes of Douglas and Frederick, Dennis picked up a bagel and started eating. After finishing it, he moved on to the sandwich and salad.

Both of them felt relieved.

Dennis seemed to really like the sandwich and kept eating it.

Douglas asked, "Dennis, do you like this?"

Dennis didn't respond at first, but after a while, he nodded.

Douglas's eyes widened in surprise!

He had just asked casually, not expecting Dennis to actually respond. This was the first time in two years Dennis had acknowledged him.

In the past, no matter what Douglas did, Dennis always ignored him, treating him like he was invisible.

When Douglas left, the two of them stood downstairs smoking.

"I gotta say, Isabella's got some skills."

They had hired so many top chefs to cook, but none could win over Dennis's appetite, yet she did.

"Why not just hire her to take care of Dennis at home?"

Frederick flicked the ash from his cigarette, frowning, "She came once, but Dennis didn't like her and drove her away."

"Huh? He likes her cooking but not her as a person?"

"Yeah."

"Dennis probably thinks Isabella is too pretty and feels threatened, thinking you and Isabella might get together."

Frederick smoked in silence, thinking that might be the case.

Dennis, who was managing him on behalf of his mom, had always disliked him having contact with other women.

Douglas said, "Try to let them interact more. Isabella is an opportunity. If Dennis likes her cooking, he might accept her too. Once he accepts her, things will only get better."

"Okay."

"By the way, she asked again about the meeting tomorrow at noon. Are you really planning to see her? Have you decided not to hide your identity anymore?"

Frederick flicked the ash from his cigarette, deep in thought.

Douglas said, "Will you see her or not? I've already promised Isabella. If you don't go tomorrow, how am I supposed to explain to her? Where will my face go?"

Frederick frowned, "I'll see her tomorrow."

"Good!"

After Douglas left, Frederick went upstairs.

Dennis had already finished all the food on the table.

Frederick was shocked, "You finished it all?"

"Yeah."

"Are you full?"

Dennis shook his head and went back to his room to rest.

Frederick stared at the plates that looked like they had been licked clean for a long time.

Then, he called the nutritionist.

He asked how much a child Dennis's age should eat.

Dennis used to eat like a cat, but now he was like a little tiger!

He could finish all that food!

Upon learning that it was okay for Dennis to eat that much, Frederick fell into deep self-blame.

It turned out that Dennis wasn't eating too much today; he had been eating too little before.

Dennis's previous appetite was like that of a three-year-old, but he was already five.

Frederick blamed himself for being an unqualified father, not even knowing how much Dennis should eat, and felt sorry.

But looking at the empty plates on the table, he also felt a bit gratified.

No matter what, Dennis being able to eat that much now was a good thing.

Frederick rolled up his sleeves, cleaned up the plates and utensils, and took them to the kitchen to wash, while also cooking some noodles for himself.

He thought Isabella would prepare him a portion too, turned out he was wrong.

Just after eating the noodles, his phone rang. It was Elijah.

"Frederick, that bald guy is now in a vegetative state."

"Who?"

"The guy who fainted on Isabella at the abandoned building today. The police took him to the hospital, and my friend over there just told me."

"What caused it?"

"Don't know, they couldn't find the reason. It's strange because he was supposed to be in good health. No one knows what happened today; he just fainted and didn't wake up. The key thing is, his guys said Isabella knocked him out."

Frederick was surprised, "Isabella?"
