Chapter 71 Ran Away After Giving Birth?

After leaving the hospital, Isabella went to find Freya.

First, she wanted to check on the kids at the kindergarten since it was their first day and she was a bit worried.

Second, she felt uneasy about Laura's situation.

After hearing her out, Freya was both surprised and angry. "Eleanor's been so kind to Laura, and now she's badmouthing her and even dislikes you? That's so ungrateful. They say 'A pitiful person often has some detestable traits.' Sure, losing her child is sad, but with the way she treats Eleanor, she kind of brought it on herself."

Isabella sighed. "She's quite a strange person."

"Strange? More like heartless!"

"Freya, did Eleanor really go to shoot a movie?" Isabella asked, frowning. Even though Daniel had explained, she was still uneasy.

"Yes, she even talked to me before she left. And Daniel was right, Eleanor's a public figure. If something had happened, there'd be rumors by now. It couldn't be kept a secret."

Seeing Freya's certainty, Isabella finally felt relieved.

Freya continued, "Daniel's really something. He knew you weren't close to Laura, yet he dragged you over to comfort her, causing you unnecessary trouble."

"Let's not talk about them. How are the kids?"

"They're in the classroom, having a great time."

Freya pulled up the classroom surveillance for Isabella to see. Watching Hugo, Justin, and Paul playing happily, Isabella felt her mood lift.

"Kids really do enjoy being with other kids. They're having so much fun."

Freya agreed. "At their age, they should be in school. They might not learn much academically in kindergarten, but it's good for their growth."

"Yes."

Seeing no one else in the office, Isabella asked quietly, "Their identity information isn't sorted out yet. Can they attend school now?"

"Yes, private kindergartens have more flexible admission requirements."

"That's good."

"Don't worry about Hugo, Justin, and Paul going to school. Isn't that what I'm here for? As long as you want, they can come with me every day."

Isabella smiled. "Having a friend who's a kindergarten teacher is really great."

Freya pursed her lips. "You're the only one proud of that! Whenever my parents mention me, I feel so troubled. They're both well-known intellectuals, and they thought they could raise a high-achieving child, but ended up with a kindergarten teacher."

Isabella laughed. This was the most interesting thing about Freya's family. Two academic parents had a daughter with poor academic performance.

Freya got into Teronica University through a special admission program; otherwise, with her grades, she wouldn't have made it. It was a surprise she even passed the kindergarten teacher certification exam.

However, Isabella genuinely admired Freya's parents' educational approach. She believed they were successful in raising their children. A child's worth wasn't determined by academic performance. Values, character, and temperament are far more important.

Freya was carefree, lovable, and strong. She never looked down on anyone because of her parents' achievements, nor did she feel inferior because of her own academic struggles. Freya had strong values, a kind heart, clear distinctions between love and hate, and never engaged in internal conflicts.

She was just being herself, living a simple and happy life.

Having kids made Isabella really get what it's like to be a parent. A child's good health and character matter way more than any standout qualities.

If Hugo, Justin, and Paul grew up with Freya's attitude towards life, she'd be over the moon. Being positive, optimistic, and living a simple, fulfilling life.

"Nap time's coming up. Wanna see them?" Freya asked.

Isabella thought for a moment. "Nah, let them get used to kindergarten life. I won't disturb them."

"Okay, then wait for me. Let's grab lunch; it's about time."

"Can you go out for lunch?"

"Yeah, today I don't need to stay with the kids during their nap. Other teachers are watching them. I just need to be back by 1:30."

"Alright."

They left the kindergarten and ate at a nearby spot.

As they ate and chatted, Freya asked, "You left so early today. Did you go to that guy's house?"

"Yeah, and let me tell you, you haven't seen Dennis. If you did, you'd be shocked. He looks exactly like Hugo and Justin! If I hadn't given birth to my kids somewhere else, I'd suspect Dennis was mine. Honestly, I dislike that man, but seeing Dennis, I felt sorry for him, especially when he suddenly threw a tantrum and started breaking things. He seemed so pitiful."

Freya said, "Maybe it's because he looks like them. Seeing him reminds you of Hugo and Justin."

"Yeah, I think so too."

"So, are you going to their house every day now?"

Isabella shook her head. "Not necessarily. Things didn't go well today. I don't know if he'll ask me to come back."

"What happened? Did he give you a hard time?"

Isabella thought for a moment. "Dennis's condition is worse than Albert's. I told you last night that while both have bipolar disorder, the causes are different. Albert's stems from childhood trauma due to being kidnapped, while Dennis's is from his deep longing for his mother."

She continued, "So, Albert's situation is easier to handle because there are similar cases every year, and there's a relatively complete treatment plan for such children. But Dennis is different. His psychological issues stem from an obsession with his mother, something I've never encountered before."

Freya said, "When you mentioned it last night, I couldn't understand it either. There are so many kids from single-parent families, and some are even orphans. I've never heard of anyone getting sick from excessive longing. But the phrase 'longing turning into illness' must have some basis. There are probably similar cases; we just don't know about them."

"Yeah, it's rare, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

Freya asked, "So Dennis has an obsession with his mother. What about his mother?"

"I don't know. Dennis's father said she disappeared after giving birth to Dennis and hasn't been found since."

"She ran away after giving birth? Why? Was she bullied by Dennis's father?"

"Who knows? With his cold personality, no one could stay with him for long. He always has a stern face, like everyone owes him money. Dennis's mom must have been a strong woman to dare to date him and have his child. I admire her!"

Freya said, "You said he's handsome and rich. Why would she run away? The problem must be with him!"

"I think so too. Poor Dennis. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, so I don't know if his illness is really due to his obsession with his mother."
