Chapter 123 She Really Went All Out for Dennis
"If you want me to leave, fine, I'm outta here. What's with the attitude?" Isabella said, turning on her heel and walking away.
Frederick, looking pissed, lit a cigarette before picking up the phone.
"Is Dennis doing any better?" Nicholas asked.
Frederick didn't say a word. Nicholas tried again, "Seriously, how did he get better so fast?"
Frederick, clearly annoyed, snapped, "He just did, okay?"
"That doesn't make any sense," Nicholas said, not buying it.
"Why not?"
Frederick's tone was harsh. After a pause, Nicholas said, "I'm gonna check on him myself."
"Not a good time." Frederick hung up on him.
Nicholas stared at the phone, fuming, "Jerk!"
One of his guys said, "Calm down, boss. Didn't you notice? Frederick's not happy. If Dennis was really better, he'd be thrilled."
Nicholas narrowed his eyes, "So, he's lying?"
"Yeah, it's pretty obvious."
"Why would he lie?"
"No clue, but it makes things interesting. When Dennis shows up, Frederick's gonna look like an idiot. And if Dennis is better, he can give a speech at the event," the guy explained.
Nicholas thought for a moment, then smirked and typed in the family group chat.
Nicholas: [Big day for the Valdemar family! Let's pick a celebration date! With Dennis better, the family memorial is on. Frederick, ensure Dennis's speech is ready.]
After he sent the message, the chat blew up with congratulations for Dennis's recovery!
But everyone in the Valdemar family was sharp. They still had their doubts about Dennis being better.
Seeing no reply from Frederick, Nicholas didn't get mad. He put his phone away and asked his guy, "Still no word from Tony Beniere?"
The guy shook his head, "Nope, after Always IsaBabe gave us his info, we tried to reach out, but nothing. Maybe Always IsaBabe got it wrong."
"No way! With Always IsaBabe's rep, they wouldn't mess with us.
Tony's always been a mystery. He popped up outta nowhere last year and rocked the economic world! But no one knows who he really is, so it's no shock we can't find him.
I just didn't think the guy who hacked Frederick's system would be him! But then again, who else could pull it off? Who else has that kind of cash and guts to take on Frederick?"
Tony Beniere was the alias Hugo used in the business world.
Nicholas had traded something valuable with Hugo to find out who hacked Frederick's system, and Hugo gave him his business alias.
This way, there was no trickery, and Hugo's real identity stayed hidden.
The business world knew 'Tony Beniere,' but not who he really was.
The guy nodded, "So, what's the plan? If we wanna work with Tony, we gotta find him first. Should we ask Always IsaBabe for help again?"
Nicholas frowned, "I traded something big with Always IsaBabe, and they only agreed to look into three things for us. We've already used one. We can't waste another on this! Keep trying to reach Tony. Once we do, I'll make sure he works with us."
The subordinate couldn't help but ask, "You got something up your sleeve, boss?"
Nicholas just squinted arrogantly and said, "Just get in touch with him first!"
Meanwhile, Frederick was in his study, puffing away on a cigarette, looking seriously pissed off.
Elliot knew what was up and tried to calm him down, "Don't be mad at Ms. Beniere. She doesn't know us well, so it's normal she doesn't trust you. She's just looking out for herself."
Frederick kept smoking, not saying a word.
He got it, but it still bugged him that Isabella didn't trust him!
Plus, it made the family memorial event a total headache.
He'd said Dennis was better, but Dennis wasn't!
Now, there was no way to dodge the speech request for Dennis. But in his condition, how could he possibly stand on stage and talk?
Seeing Frederick so stressed, Elliot switched gears, "We just got word that Nicholas found out who hacked our system. It's Tony Beniere."
Frederick raised an eyebrow, "The sharp-eyed, always-profitable Tony?"
"Yeah, that's him! Last year, he dropped billions and made tens of billions. They say his total assets are almost catching up to yours!"
Frederick frowned, "Is Nicholas's info legit?"
"Yeah, it's from Always IsaBabe."
Frederick's face darkened, and he took another drag of his cigarette.
Elliot said, "If Nicholas teams up with Tony against us, it could be a problem. Nicholas isn't scary, but Tony is.
Tony's still a mystery in the business world. Since he showed up, no one knows who he really is, and no one's seen him.
But Nicholas hasn't contacted him yet. Even if he does, Tony might not play ball."
"Keep tabs on Nicholas. As soon as he reaches out to Tony, let me know! And get someone to dig deep into this Tony guy!"
"Got it."
Frederick was fuming, and Isabella was on edge.
She was worried he wouldn't agree to her request. Now that he had, she was even more nervous.
She kept thinking about the method Hugo gave her!
She was always hesitant about taking such a big risk for Dennis, but today she made up her mind!
Now that she had, there was no turning back. The road ahead could lead to great joy or be a total disaster!
For Dennis, she was really going all out.
For someone as cautious as her, making such a big decision was tough.
When you're distracted, accidents happen. Isabella was cutting vegetables and accidentally cut her finger.
Frederick and Elliot heard the commotion and came out, and so did Dennis.
The three of them looked at her at the same time.
Seeing her finger bleeding, Elliot quickly ran over, "Ms. Beniere, what happened?"
"I accidentally cut my finger," Isabella replied.
"Is it bad? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Elliot asked, worried.
"It's not serious. Just need to bandage it. Could you please..."
Before she could finish, Frederick had already brought the first aid kit.
He didn't say anything, just grabbed her injured hand, checked it, and started cleaning it with alcohol.
Isabella hissed in pain.
Frederick looked up at her.
Isabella, wincing, said, "It hurts."
Frederick, with a look of disdain, muttered, "So delicate!"
Isabella was left speechless.
