Chapter 85 Date with Frederick Successfully
Douglas wasn't mad; he just grinned and said, "Alright, spill it. What's your real game here?"
Frederick kept quiet, so Douglas took a shot in the dark, "Worried that if people find out who you really are, Isabella might fall for you? Don't kid yourself. She told me today she doesn't like you."
Frederick's face turned dark. "Why's Isabella talking to you about me?"
Douglas shrugged, "She asked me to set up a meeting with you. Yeah, you heard right, she wants to meet Frederick, not Eric."
Frederick frowned, "What does she want to meet me for?"
"No clue. I asked, but she didn't spill. Just said it's something important."
Frederick lit a cigarette, deep in thought, trying to figure out what Isabella wanted.
"Have you two ever crossed paths before?" Douglas asked.
Frederick shook his head. "I checked, and there's nothing."
"That's weird. She doesn't know you, so why's she looking for you?" Douglas added.
Frederick stayed silent.
Douglas said, "If you agree to meet, you'll blow your cover."
Frederick smoked in silence for a bit, then suddenly said, "Set it up!"
"What? You're actually going?"
"Yeah!"
"Are you sure? Not worried about blowing your cover?"
"Cut the crap!"
Douglas was about to make a snarky comment when Lily called.
Douglas' face changed. "Oh no, it's probably about Susan and Isabella."
Frederick's eyes gleamed with mockery. "Karma's a bitch."
Douglas fell silent.
Soon, Isabella got the message that Frederick had agreed to meet her at noon the next day.
"Really?" Isabella was thrilled.
Douglas said, "Yep. You wanna pick the place, or should he?"
"Either's fine, let him choose."
"Alright, I'll ask him and text you the location once it's set."
"Okay! Thanks, Douglas."
Douglas felt a bit flattered. "No problem. Just put in a good word for me if Lily calls. I didn't see the Susan thing coming."
"Oh, sure." After hanging up, Isabella was over the moon.
She'd meet Frederick at noon the next day, sure she could convince him to divorce and finally register the kids to leave this mess behind.
Isabella happily finished her discharge paperwork.
She wasn't hurt, just a bit shaken up. Now that she was calm, it was all behind her.
Standing at the hospital entrance, she hailed a cab, planning to hit the supermarket.
Since Dennis loved her cooking, she decided to whip up something special tonight.
Plus, she had successfully set up a meeting with Frederick today, which called for a celebration.
She called Freya, telling her she was out of the hospital and heading to the supermarket, asking what she and the kids wanted to eat so she could grab the ingredients.
Freya asked, "Why'd you get discharged?"
"I wasn't really hurt. You didn't tell the kids, did you?"
"Like you said, I kept quiet. They're in the living room, and I'm in the bedroom taking your call."
"Good, I’ve sorted out my husband's issue!"
"Really? Did Douglas agree to help?"
"Yep, it's all set. I'll meet my husband at noon tomorrow."
"Douglas works fast. This is great news, worth celebrating. I'll bring Hugo, Justin, and Paul to meet you."
"Alright, let's hit the supermarket."
"Need a ride?"
"No, you take the kids. I'll grab a cab from the hospital."
"Okay, Hugo, Justin, and Paul, get ready. We're meeting Isabella at the supermarket."
"Mommy? Is she at the supermarket? Didn't you say she might not come back tonight?" Hugo, Justin, and Paul asked eagerly.
Freya had told them earlier that Isabella might not return tonight, just in case she couldn't be discharged.
Freya smiled, "Your mommy's done with her stuff. She's in a great mood and said she's going to the supermarket to get you some treats and make a big dinner tonight."
"Wow!" Hugo, Justin, and Paul screamed in excitement.
Isabella, holding her phone and listening to the kids' laughter, couldn't help but smile.
The sound of her kids' voices was the best thing ever.
Douglas and Frederick noticed her smile.
After Isabella finished the discharge procedures, Frederick followed her out.
Maybe it was because Dennis liked her cooking, but he kept trailing behind Isabella.
"That smile is beautiful, like a flower," Douglas, sitting in the car, remarked sincerely.
Frederick suddenly glared at him.
Douglas raised an eyebrow. "Why the glare? You don't like Isabella, and she doesn't have a husband. Can't I appreciate her?"
Frederick rolled his eyes and took a drag from his cigarette.
Douglas cheekily asked, "Come on, admit it. Do you have feelings for Isabella?"
"No feelings," Frederick replied without hesitation.
"Really?"
"You're boring."
Douglas laughed. "You two actually make a good match. You both look great together, and you're both single parents. If you became a family, it’d be perfect."
Douglas thought the same as Elliot.
Instead of waiting for a woman who might never show up, why not start a new family with Isabella?
Isabella was beautiful and had a great figure, worthy of Frederick.
She might be a bit poor and ordinary, but so what? Frederick didn't need a woman's power to support him.
Over the years, the relationship between Isabella and Frederick was the most intriguing.
And Frederick treated her differently from other women.
So Douglas and Elliot were both trying to match them up.
Frederick's face darkened. "Get lost!"
Douglas was speechless. "You're no fun. Can't even talk about it. What? Is Isabella not good enough for you? I think you're the one who doesn't deserve Isabella. Look at how old you are, stop being so picky. And honestly, I think you have feelings for Isabella. You definitely like her."
Frederick said, "Do you want me to contact Lily and tell her you have feelings for Isabella?"
"Damn! That's slander!"
"If you can slander, why can't I?"
Douglas snapped, "Using Lily to threaten me. You jerk."
Douglas cursed as he got out of the car.
He wanted to stay far away from Frederick and Isabella to avoid trouble with Lily.
On the phone today, Lily almost killed him with her words. Luckily, they weren't face-to-face, or Lily might have beaten the crap out of him!
After Douglas left, Frederick lit another cigarette, quietly watching Isabella.
Elliot, sitting in the driver's seat, had heard their conversation clearly.
He couldn't help but say, "Ms. Beniere is indeed beautiful, with a lovely smile and a great personality. If it were any other woman who went through what she did today, they might be sad and scared for a long time. Look at her, she's fine after just a few hours. Either she's been through a lot before, and today's events are nothing to her, or she's very positive and optimistic about life."
"Or maybe she's just dumb! Heartless and silly," Frederick said.
Elliot fell silent.
