Chapter 120 Blizzard, Grand Entrance
At the mall entrance, Isabella took a deep breath and told Daniel, "Hey, if you hear anything about Eleanor, let us know, okay? And seriously, depression isn't something to mess around with. Keep an eye on her and try not to let her go out alone."
"Got it! I'll let you know right away if I hear anything. We've been worried about Laura too. She sneaked out today, which was a surprise. We'll be more careful," Daniel replied.
"Cool." Isabella chatted with Daniel for a bit before saying goodbye and heading off.
As soon as she left Daniel, her face changed. She quickly called Arnold, "Arnold, can you dig up some info on Daniel's cousin Laura? I think she might know something about Eleanor. Also, Daniel mentioned he got in touch with Eleanor's agent."
Arnold was shocked, "Daniel got in touch with Eleanor's agent?"
"Yeah."
"How's that even possible? I've been searching for her for days and found nothing," Arnold said, clearly surprised.
"I don't know the details; that's just what Daniel said," Isabella replied.
"Alright. I'll let you know if I find anything."
"Keep it on the down-low."
"Got it."
All afternoon, Isabella was a bit distracted thinking about Eleanor.
It wasn't until dusk, close to dinner time, that she shifted her focus to Dennis.
Dennis had set up a dinner meeting with her.
This was their first official meet-up, and she needed to make a good impression to keep things smooth and offer him some psychological counseling.
Isabella prepped a bunch of tasty food and brought along some gifts.
She was feeling pretty confident!
But the meeting didn't go as planned.
Even though Dennis didn't blow up when he saw her, he was cold and distant. No matter what she said, he stayed silent, like a mute.
When she asked him to pick a gift, he just glanced at them and didn't choose any.
After dinner, he went back to his room. When Isabella tried to follow, she found the door locked.
For three days straight, Isabella tried everything to get Dennis to talk, but nothing worked.
Dennis was just like his dad: aloof and proud!
After three days of this, Isabella felt a bit defeated but wasn't ready to give up.
On the fourth day, before seeing Dennis, she went to find Justin. She said, "Justin, I need to talk to you."
"Hmm? What's up?"
"I want to borrow Blizzard."
Justin blinked, looking cautious, "You won't throw him away again, right? Trust me, he doesn't bite."
Isabella smiled, "I know, that's why I want to borrow him to play with a little boy for a day."
"You mean Dennis? I heard about him from Hugo."
"Yeah, Dennis. He's been down, and I want to cheer him up," Isabella explained.
"Then let me come! I can cheer him up better than Blizzard!" Justin said.
"No way!" Isabella immediately refused.
Given how much Eric cared about Dennis, he'd know if a mosquito was around him.
If Justin went to cheer Dennis up, Eric would find out right away. Wouldn't Justin be exposed then?
Even though she hadn't seen Eric these past few days, she knew there were cameras in the house, and Eric knew everything she and Dennis did!
So, no way was she letting Justin go to Dennis.
Seeing Isabella's firm stance, Justin didn't push it.
Even though he had issues with Frederick, he knew Dennis was innocent.
Justin quickly brought Blizzard, told him not to bite Dennis, to listen to Isabella, and handed him over.
"Here you go," he said.
Isabella was thrilled and kissed Justin on the cheek, "Thanks!"
Blizzard was Justin's treasure, and no one else could borrow him except her!
Isabella brought breakfast and Blizzard to Sunnyvale Community.
Dennis still treated her the same way, basically ignoring her.
It wasn't until she brought out Blizzard that Dennis's expression changed a bit.
Isabella jumped at the chance and said, "His name's Blizzard."
Dennis lifted his eyes, curiosity written all over his face.
Isabella grinned, "Wondering why he's called Blizzard even though he's all black?"
Dennis furrowed his little brows but stayed silent. Isabella continued, "Blizzard can do magic. He's black now, but when he meets someone he likes or something that makes him happy, he turns white."
Dennis didn't buy it and finally spoke, "Why is he black now? Doesn't he like you?"
Isabella was thrilled to hear Dennis talk. She pinched her palm to stay calm, not wanting to scare him off with her excitement.
"He doesn't really like me. He's my son's pet. I was worried he might hurt my son, so I didn't let him keep Blizzard at first. Maybe Blizzard holds a grudge," Isabella said, trying to stay cool.
Blizzard seemed to get what she was saying. He glanced at her and then turned away.
Dennis got even more interested. He stared at Blizzard for a bit, then put his small hand on the table, palm up, inviting Blizzard to climb on.
Blizzard was a small black snake with a pointed head and strong venom. That's why Isabella didn't let Justin keep him when they were abroad.
But Justin and Blizzard had a bond. Every time they released him, Blizzard found his way back to Justin, so he secretly kept him.
Isabella only found out after Justin had kept him for over six months. At first, she was scared, but then realized Blizzard listened to Justin, didn't bite him, and would protect him if he was in danger. So, Isabella finally relaxed.
Before coming, Justin had told Blizzard not to attack Dennis. So, Blizzard slowly and reluctantly climbed onto Dennis's hand and coiled around his wrist.
A black ring appeared on Dennis's fair wrist, like a bracelet.
Seeing that Blizzard hadn't changed color, Isabella explained, "Blizzard isn't familiar with you yet, so he didn't change color. If you get a chance, my son Justin can show you. I'm not lying; he really can turn white."
Even though Blizzard didn't turn white, Dennis was clearly fascinated and kept staring at him.
"What makes him happy?" he asked.
Isabella thought for a moment, "Going out to play."
Dennis looked puzzled.
Isabella said seriously, "Blizzard spends most of his time sleeping on Justin. When he goes out to play, he gets really happy. I've seen him turn white while playing on the grass. I guess he's like a kid and loves having fun outside."
Dennis hesitated, staring at Blizzard on his wrist, then turned and walked towards the door.
Isabella quickly stood up, "Dennis, where are you going?"
Dennis didn't answer and sat down to change his shoes.
Isabella was shocked, "Do you want to go out?"
Dennis still didn't speak, but his actions made it clear he wanted to go out.
Isabella didn't expect Dennis to want to go out on his own; it was a surprise!
To her, it was a big deal!
Dennis had psychological issues, not only being irritable but also reclusive. Most of the time, he locked himself in his own little world, not letting anyone in.
The fact that he could tolerate her presence and talk to her was a surprise. The fact that he wanted to go out on his own was an even bigger surprise!
Seeing that he had already opened the door, Isabella quickly snapped back to reality. She exclaimed, "Dennis, wait."
She grabbed Dennis's jacket and helped him put it on.
She also took a scarf, knelt down to tie it for Dennis, and put a hat on him, saying, "It's cold outside."
Dennis frowned at her, his dark eyes not as innocent as her son's.
Dennis was more like his father, with deep, unreadable eyes that made it hard to guess his thoughts.
He gave Isabella a long look and then headed downstairs.
Isabella was stunned for a moment but quickly followed.
