Chapter 173 There's Something Strange About Dennis's Illness

Isabella recounted her conversation with the mysterious person, and Freya was shocked as she asked, "You heard his voice but didn't see him? Is he a ghost? Did you see a ghost?"

Isabella frowned, uttering, "It would be better if it were just a ghost. The scary part is that he knows about me and Eric! He knows that Hugo and the others are Eric's kids!"

"How could he know? You didn't even tell me or Eleanor about what happened back then. There shouldn't be a third person who knows!

Wait, have you confirmed that Dennis's dad is the man from back then?" Freya was startled, as if she had discovered a new continent.

Isabella nodded as she added, "Yes! That mysterious person sent me a paternity test, and I also saw the bite marks on him with my own eyes! It's confirmed!"

Freya's eyes widened like saucers. After being shocked for a while, she furrowed her brows, saying, "We finally found him! Isabella, what do you want to do? Do you want to sue him? If you want, I can call my parents right now and have them find us the best lawyer!"

Shaking her head, Isabella answered, "I haven't thought about it. Not to mention that so much time has passed and there's no evidence left, but just for Dennis's sake, I wouldn't sue him.

If something happened to him, what would Dennis do? Dennis is already pitiful enough without a mother, and Eric treats Dennis very well."

Freya let out a long breath in frustration, uttering, "That's true, but letting him off like this is too easy for him and too unfair to you."

Isabella shook her head again as she stated, "It's not unfair. I've come to terms with it. He hurt me, but he also gave me some wonderful children, so it evens out. As long as he doesn't try to take the kids from me, I won't bother him. I'm just worried about that mysterious person, worried that he might go and snitch."

"He probably won't. From the way he talked to you, it seems like he has a grudge against Eric. He probably won't say anything for a while."

Isabella let out a long breath, adding, "Anyway, I can't stay here anymore."

"What?"

"I used to have a sliver of hope when interacting with Eric, hoping that maybe the kids just looked like him and weren't actually his. Now that it's confirmed, I really don't want to have any contact with him."

"What about Dennis?"

Isabella furrowed her brows as she remarked, "It would be best if I could leave after Dennis gets better, but I always feel that Dennis's illness is a bit strange and might not be easy to cure."

"What do you mean?"

"I've studied many related cases over the years, and none of them are purely caused by excessive longing.

Most kids, like Albert, develop psychological issues after experiencing some terrible events and suffering psychological trauma. Or it's congenital, like emotional deficiency disorder, which they're born with!

But Dennis doesn't have a congenital disease, nor has he experienced those terrible events. The longer I interact with him, the more puzzled I become. I always feel that his psychological illness is abnormal."

"If Dennis's illness isn't caused by longing, then what's the cause?"

Isabella furrowed her brows and thought for a moment, uttering, "I don't know yet, but although Dennis isn't cured, his condition has stabilized. Even without me, he won't be in any immediate danger."

Freya knew how deeply Isabella cared for Dennis and tried to comfort her, "Don't worry too much about Dennis. Even if you leave Teronica, you can still communicate with them. You can call and video chat often."

"Yes, you're right!"

"But your divorce isn't finalized yet. How will you leave?"

Mentioning this made Isabella furious. She really didn't want to curse Frederick, but his refusal to finalize the divorce was infuriating!

Damn man!
