Chapter 104 You Want Me to Have a Child?
The rumors were getting crazier by the minute, and eventually turned into...
"You gotta get in touch with the principal ASAP. Tell him to check on Hugo's dad. He can't have kids anymore."
The teacher was floored when she heard this.
While wiping the little girl's tears, she said, "Don't cry, sweetie. Hugo's dad is a man, and men can't have babies."
"No, Hugo's dad has to be able to have kids."
"And he needs to have nine of them."
The teacher was baffled. "Why nine?"
"Because we need nine husbands."
Kids say the darnedest things. When Freya heard this, she had just taken a sip of water.
And then, she spat it out!
She sprayed it all over the female teacher who was gossiping with her.
Without even apologizing, she said, "Is the little girl at school asking Hugo's dad to have kids?"
"Yes! Because of this, the girls in our class were bawling their eyes out! Didn't you hear the crying downstairs just now?" the teacher replied.
"I think I did, but I didn't expect it to be because of this. They're not crying anymore, how did you calm them down?"
"I had Hugo tell them to go home and tell his dad to take good care of his health and try hard to have nine more sons," the teacher said.
Freya was speechless, almost choking with laughter, while Isabella was both amused and exasperated.
The world of kids was simple and wonderful, and their thoughts were even more unrestrained.
But thinking of Dennis, the smile on her face froze, and she couldn't help but sigh.
Most kids' worlds are colorful and vibrant, but Dennis's world was full of wind and fog.
"Isabella," someone called her name.
Hearing this, Isabella quickly snapped out of her thoughts.
Arnold was already sitting across from her.
Today, Arnold had asked to meet her, saying he had something to discuss.
They arranged to meet at a café near the hospital. Coincidentally, she had just finished delivering food to Dennis and was near the hospital, so she arrived at the café first.
"Sorry, the parking lot outside was full. I was looking for a spot and it took some time," Arnold said.
"No problem, I just got here a few minutes ago," Isabella replied.
Arnold waved to call the waiter over and ordered two cups of coffee, then apologized, "I'm really sorry about the Frederick incident. I just got back from abroad, and Frederick suddenly contacted me asking for help to meet someone. I didn't think much and agreed, not expecting it to be you."
"I didn't expect it either," Isabella said.
She didn't expect Frederick, a big CEO, to do something so outrageous!
She had thought Frederick was a gentleman, someone who did things openly and honestly. She had really overestimated him!
"Are you very familiar with Frederick?" Isabella asked.
Arnold nodded, "We met abroad and have known each other for many years."
"Didn't you go to college in the States?" Isabella questioned.
"Yeah, but my family immigrated a long time ago. I met Frederick before I came back for college. He had been abroad before," Arnold explained.
"Oh, if you don't mind me asking, how did you meet Eric?" Isabella inquired.
That day, Frederick didn't show up, but Eric suddenly appeared. But before she could ask more, Dennis suddenly had an incident.
A strange look flashed in Arnold's eyes. He didn't want to lie to Isabella, especially since Isabella was Eleanor's best friend.
But after that day, Douglas had told him about Frederick and Isabella.
Although Douglas didn't say much, he already knew that Frederick had hidden his identity from Isabella and changed his name to Eric!
Arnold stammered, "We also met abroad."
"He went abroad too?" Isabella wondered.
"Yeah, his family used to be loaded," Arnold replied.
"Well, they were, but now they're broke," Isabella said.
Arnold went quiet.
He took a sip of his coffee to break the awkward silence, then asked, "I heard you were looking for Frederick. If you trust me, you can tell me, and I'll pass the message."
Isabella's lips moved, but she shook her head.
A secret marriage and a confidentiality agreement meant she couldn't even tell Freya, let alone anyone else.
"I need to tell him in person," Isabella insisted.
Arnold sighed, "Then you might be disappointed. Frederick doesn't seem to want to see you lately."
Isabella frowned and couldn't help but vent, "I don't get it. No matter how busy he is, he should have time to see me, right? I feel like he's avoiding me! I'm not some wild beast; I won't do anything to him. Why won't he see me?"
Arnold shrugged helplessly, "I can't figure out his thoughts either."
Seeing that Isabella wouldn't reveal her reason for meeting Frederick, Arnold didn't push further and changed the topic. "Don't be too upset. Frederick is hard to read. When he wants to see you, he'll contact you. Just wait patiently. Besides apologizing, I wanted to ask you about Eleanor going abroad to shoot a movie. What did Daniel and Freya say?"
Talking about Eleanor calmed Isabella down a bit. "Is there news about Eleanor?"
Arnold frowned slightly, "I wanted to confirm with you because my info might be different from what you heard."
Isabella instantly became nervous. She repeated what Daniel and Freya had told her to Arnold.
Arnold said, "Eleanor's agent did announce that she took on a very confidential project and asked everyone to stay tuned, saying it wouldn't disappoint. But I heard from people in the industry that she's been traveling abroad for over a year and hasn't been shooting any new movies."
"How could that be? Does the project only require the actors to sign a confidentiality agreement, not the agent? But Daniel said he couldn't even contact Eleanor's agent," Isabella exclaimed in astonishment.
"Either Daniel is lying, or something's up with Eleanor. I had someone check, and there's no record of Eleanor leaving the country."
Isabella's heart skipped a beat!
She widened her eyes and asked, "Is the information accurate?"
"Yes! Eleanor didn't leave the country. If nothing unexpected happened, she didn't even leave Teronica."
Isabella accidentally broke her coffee cup, spilling dark coffee all over herself and shattering the cup on the floor.
Startled, she stood up, frozen in place.
Arnold quickly asked, "Are you okay?!"
The waiter also rushed over. Seeing Isabella's pale face, they thought she was shocked by breaking the cup and comforted her, "It's okay, ma'am. I'll get you a new one right away."
After the waiter cleaned up the floor, Isabella finally sat back down, frowning. "If Eleanor didn't go abroad or leave Teronica, why hasn't she contacted anyone? She hasn't contacted Freya or Daniel, not even her parents. By the way, what about her agent?"
Arnold's expression was complicated. "Her agent is missing."
"Huh? What do you mean?" she asked.
"After I found out Eleanor didn't leave the country, I immediately tried to contact her agent, but the phone was disconnected, and messages weren't returned. Even her relatives and friends couldn't reach her."
The waiter brought a new cup of coffee, and Isabella shakily picked it up.
The coffee was bitter, but at this moment, it tasted like nothing. She felt numb.
She had already been suspicious about Eleanor's disappearance for over a year, and now she was even more doubtful.
Eleanor might really be in trouble!
