Chapter 116 Elliot Asked Me to Add You

The phone rang out of nowhere; it was Elliot.

Frederick grabbed the phone, headed to his room, stepped out onto the balcony, and lit up a cigarette.

Elliot sounded pissed, "Frederick, on the 5th next month, we gotta hit the family cemetery. Dennis has been given a task. They say since he's five now, he has to follow the Valdemar family tradition—bring flowers, kowtow, and do some bows.

Dennis also has to give a speech, officially addressing the whole Valdemar family as the next heir."

Frederick frowned hard and took a deep drag on his cigarette.

Elliot, still fuming, continued, "Nicholas is doing this on purpose! He knows Dennis has issues, but he still wants him to kowtow and give a speech in front of everyone. It's like he's setting Dennis up to fail!"

Dennis was super introverted and hated dealing with strangers. Asking him to go to the family cemetery was already a big deal, let alone kowtowing and giving a speech!

Last year, when they went to the cemetery, Dennis got dragged up the mountain, and everyone in the Valdemar family gave him weird looks and whispered behind his back.

Dennis freaked out, wanted to go home, and ended up rolling down the mountain, almost getting seriously hurt!

Back then, besides Frederick and Elliot, no one felt bad for Dennis; they just mocked him.

Some even said it was a shame he only fainted and didn't die.

Elliot still remembers it! Just thinking about it makes him clench his teeth!

He said angrily, "Frederick! We don't need to bow down to those old Valdemar ancestors. Let's just skip it this year! Let them do whatever they want!"

Frederick took another drag, his face dark and serious, and said, "Tell them Dennis will show up but won't give a speech!"

Soon enough, Nicholas got the news and snorted.

One of his guys said, "I thought Dennis's condition got worse this year, and Frederick would refuse to let him come. Didn't expect him to agree."

Nicholas replied coldly, "Dennis is the only heir of the Valdemar family; he has to be there! If he skips this, he can be kicked out of the family. Plus, Frederick respects his father. Paying respects is also for his dad, so he'll definitely bring Dennis!"

"Should I tell them that?" the guy asked.

"No, tell Frederick that rules are rules. I did it at five, so did his dad, himself, and even his great-grandfather. For generations, every member has attended and given a speech at five. The tradition can't be broken now that it's Dennis's turn!

But Dennis's situation is special; he can get some help. If he can't handle the speech, he can say a few words, even just three to five sentences, but he can't skip it. That's the rule!"

The family members were all looking forward to the event; they couldn't wait to see the show. But this time, it wasn't Nicholas's joke; it was Frederick's.

After all, the only time they could openly mock Dennis and Frederick was this annual event because they only got this one chance each year to see Dennis.

As Nicholas said, no matter how capable Frederick was, his son Dennis was still a failure!

He didn't even dare to say a few lines; how embarrassing!

The Valdemar family was counting down the days to the 5th of the next month, ready to watch the drama unfold.

Frederick got Nicholas's reply, and his face turned dark.

It's obvious Nicholas was using this cemetery event to mess with him and Dennis!

"Don't reply to him yet," Frederick said.

After hanging up, he lit another cigarette.

With Dennis's current state, there's no way he can kowtow and give a speech!

Dennis will just end up being their laughingstock!

And if he has another meltdown because of this...

Suddenly, there was a noise from the living room. Frederick quickly put out his cigarette and rushed out.

Dennis was standing by the kitchen door, a broken spoon on the floor.

Frederick hurried over, asking, "Dennis! Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"

Dennis shook his head.

Frederick asked, "Why did you go to the kitchen alone to get a spoon? What do you need?"

Dennis calmly replied, "To eat."

Frederick questioned, "Do you remember what I just said?"

Dennis was silent for a few seconds, furrowing his little brows and then said, "Bring her here; I want to meet her."

Frederick was stunned.

Dennis added, "As long as you and she are truly innocent!"

Frederick's heart skipped a beat. Was Dennis planning to accept Isabella?

Frederick couldn't help but laugh out loud.

The earlier frustration vanished, leaving only joy.

Dennis accepting Isabella, accepting a stranger, was his first step forward!

Before this, he never thought Dennis would accept Isabella; he didn't even have a sliver of hope.

It seems Isabella's cooking really won him over!

'Isabella, you're amazing, truly impressive!' Frederick was so happy he couldn't help but praise Isabella in his heart.

"I would never lie to you about this! Whether or not I'm innocent with her, you can see for yourself! You eat first, and I'll contact her later to come see you."

Dennis nodded again.

Frederick carried Dennis to the dining room, placed him by the table, and laid out the dishes Isabella had made.

He then went to the kitchen to get new utensils for Dennis.

Dennis ate quietly by himself.

Watching him eat heartily, Frederick finally showed a long-lost, deeply gratified expression.

Only after becoming a parent can one understand the happiness of watching their child eat heartily and sleep soundly.

After Dennis finished eating, Frederick asked him, "When do you want to see her?"

Dennis replied indifferently, "Anytime, it's up to her."

"Then I'll contact her later and let you know before she comes," Frederick remarked.

"Okay," Dennis replied.

Dennis went back to his room, and Frederick, in a good mood, cleaned up the dishes and went to his room to contact Isabella.

But when he tried to contact her, he realized he had blocked her!

Wouldn't it be awkward to unblock her now?

Frederick thought, 'Dennis's matter is more important, so let it be awkward!'

He unblocked Isabella's contact and shamelessly called her.

The first time, she hung up.

The second time, she hung up again.

The third time, she blocked him.

An eye for an eye?

Frederick, with a dark face, added her on Facebook again, leaving a note to save face: [Elliot asked me to add you; I need to talk to you.]

The message was sent, but there was no response. Isabella didn't accept.

Then, Elliot called. He said, "Frederick, Ms. Beniere said you told her I asked you to add her on Facebook. When did I ask you to add her on Facebook?"

Frederick, embarrassed and angry, replied, "Come pick me up; let's go find Isabella!"
