Chapter 136 The Valdemar Family Has Had a Single Heir for Generations?

Hugo smirked, "Other families' elders want the best for their kids, but you? You only care about yourself. The Valdemar family really drew the short straw with you."

"You... ungrateful brat! Bastard!" Nicholas yelled, his face turning red. He started coughing violently and collapsed.

Luckily, his guys were quick to catch him before he hit the ground.

They jumped into action, doing CPR and giving him some heart pills. After a tense moment, he finally came around.

Nicholas, still weak and gasping for air, shot a death glare at Dennis.

Anna saw her chance and yelled, "Dad! Do you see it now? All that talk about the sole bloodline! He doesn't deserve to be the heir! Kick him out of the family! We'd rather have no heir than someone like him!"

"Shut up!" Nicholas roared.

Hugo's words stung, but they were spot on.

If Dennis was out of the picture, the Valdemar family would explode into a power struggle, with every branch pushing their own for the top spot!

And then, Nicholas would have no shot at power. No one would listen to him anymore!

He'd be even more powerless in the Valdemar family!

Right now, people only listened to him because they feared Frederick and wanted him to stand up to Frederick.

If Dennis was gone, it would be total chaos!

"No matter how bad he is, he's still the only the only Valdemar bloodline! We've always had one heir, and that's Dennis. No one else should even try!"

"Dad, you're being ridiculous!" Anna shouted.

"Mr. Nicholas Valdemar is really showing his age, huh? What era are we even in now! Our kids carry the Valdemar blood too."

The Valdemar family members were all talking at once, making a racket. Hugo stood aside, narrowing his eyes.

The Valdemar family always had a single heir?

Then what about him and Justin?

Could it be that Frederick wasn't their real father?

Hugo glanced suspiciously at Frederick.

Frederick was coldly watching the others. Noticing Hugo's look, he turned to meet his gaze.

Father and son locked eyes, each with their own thoughts.

Hugo wondered if Frederick was really his dad.

Frederick wondered if his son Dennis had a split personality because his words and actions today were totally out of character.

Even if Isabella had convinced him to join the family memorial, he'd usually just go through the motions and never confront the family so directly.

Dennis would just fume inside and then throw a fit!

Today's words, not even a healthy kid could say!

Frederick thought for a moment and then sighed, "Let's go offer flowers to Grandpa first."

"Okay." Hugo didn't argue and followed Frederick to the cemetery, standing in for Dennis to offer flowers to Roy and bow three times.

Just as he finished, Blizzard, hidden in his sleeve, suddenly moved.

Hugo sensed something and quickly looked down.

Blizzard was tightly coiled around his arm, its deep red tongue flicking out, glaring at a distant hill.

Following its gaze, Hugo saw a wolf. Then another, and another... A whole pack of wolves suddenly appeared in his sight.

The alpha wolf spotted Hugo, locked eyes, and led the pack charging towards him.

Hugo's brow furrowed, thinking, 'Here they come!'

He quickly whispered something to Blizzard, and Blizzard immediately left him, disappearing in an instant.

Blizzard was tiny, and with everyone freaking out about the wolves, no one noticed it slip away.

The Valdemar family was in total shock. "Where did all these wolves come from?"

"Isn't there always someone watching the mountains? How could wild wolves just show up?"

"Run! These wolves look rabid and are gonna attack us!"

Elliot quickly shouted, "Eric, get Dennis out of here! These wolves are dangerous, something bad's gonna happen!"

Frederick frowned, scooped up Hugo, and started to leave, saying, "Contact Isabella and get back to the car. Tell everyone to stay alert and make sure the wolves don't get to Isabella!"

"Got it!" Elliot quickly called the bodyguards.

Hugo gave Frederick a knowing look.

Even though Frederick treated Isabella poorly, he still thought of her safety in times of danger, which earned him a point.

"What's with these wolves? Why do they seem to be coming straight for us?" Elliot, after making the call, noticed the key point.

The other Valdemar family members noticed too and stopped running, discussing, "Look, they're heading towards Dennis and Frederick!"

"Oh my God, what's going on? Do these wolves want to tear them apart?"

Anna screamed, "Payback! It's all payback! They've done so many bad things that even God couldn't stand it anymore and sent wolves to tear them apart! Payback has come, haha."

Anna screamed and laughed like a madwoman.

Her voice was loud enough for Hugo and Frederick to hear.

Hugo pursed his lips in silence. These wolves were trained by someone to specifically target Dennis. Of course, they would come for them.

He had only seen it on TV before, where people used animals to kill by repeatedly training them to attack a printed photo of the target.

When the animals saw the real person, they would attack!

But he had never heard of such an incident in real life, so when Justin told him about it today, he was both shocked and furious!

Dennis was just a 5-year-old kid. What crime had he committed to deserve such merciless treatment!

Hugo was so angry that he borrowed Justin's Blizzard to teach those people a lesson.

Blizzard wasn't an ordinary snake; even a pack of lions wouldn't be its match.

Over at Blizzard...

The lead wolf suddenly collapsed.

The other wolves immediately stopped, looking suspiciously at the lead wolf.

Hugo narrowed his eyes, knowing that Blizzard had already launched its attack.

After a while, the pack of wolves, now leaderless, suddenly changed direction and charged towards the Valdemar family members.

Elliot was dumbfounded, shouting, "Hey, what's going on? Why did they change direction?!"

Frederick also glanced over there with a furrowed brow but didn't waste any time, quickly carrying Hugo towards Isabella.

The Valdemar family members had become restless, scattering in all directions.

"Weren't they going to attack Dennis and Frederick? Why are they coming at us now? What's going on?!"

"They're coming! Oh my God, ah!"

Soon, the Valdemar family members' area was filled with cries and the sounds of fighting.

There were people crying and wolves howling.

Hugo, held by Frederick, looked in that direction, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.

Isabella had proclaimed, "Perform a noble act daily, amass virtue, and blessings shall follow."

Isabella also declared, "Those who commit evil will meet their demise; self-inflicted harm is inescapable!"

Isabella further asserted, "The righteous are worthy of eternal peace, while the wicked deserve retribution."

No matter the reason, the Valdemar family members dared to harm a child cruelly, which was a great evil!

They deserved to endure suffering and face punishment!
