Chapter 43 Hugo Said He Was Just a Baby
"What can we do?"
"Don't worry about it for now. Just listen to me, wait for my good news."
Hugo comforted Justin and Paul, then let them go to sleep.
He then typed away on the keyboard.
Then, he happened to see Nicholas looking for his messages on the dark web.
'Nicholas wanted me to help him find out who stole Frederick's business and successfully breached the security system.' Hugo squinted.
Was Nicholas checking up on him?
'Nicholas is here to be funny, isn't he? He really is bold!' Hugo thought.
Hugo was the mysterious top hacker, IsaBabe!
He originally wanted to refuse directly, but when he thought about the relationship between Nicholas and Frederick, he hesitated.
Nicholas wanted to use his knowledge against Frederick, so could he also use Frederick's knowledge against Nicholas?
'The enemy of my enemy is my friend!' Hugo thought.
Although he couldn't be friends with Nicholas, he could still make use of him.
Hugo succinctly replied to Nicholas's message.
Hugo: [I can help, but first I need to see if the conditions you've set can impress me.]
Meanwhile, in the next room.
Isabella didn't know that her children had already turned her world upside down.
She handed her pajamas to Freya, who had just finished brushing her teeth.
The clothes were a bit tight and too small for Freya.
Freya complained, "You have three children, and yet I am still fatter than you. This is just too much."
Isabella smiled. "You're not fat. You just have baby fat."
Freya was the kind of girl who was a bit chubby, not very tall, and looked very cute.
Freya burrowed into the blankets. "I just can't control my eating. I don't want to either. My motto is, 'In life, food is the most important thing.' I won't let anyone or anything compromise my appetite and mobility. If I can lie down, I absolutely won't sit. Only when I eat well, drink well, and rest well, do I feel like I'm truly living."
Freya was a typical foodie. She also didn't enjoy exercising.
Isabella also got into bed and smiled. "You are so greedy. In the future, you should be even nicer to Paul, because Paul cooks so well. If you spend more time with him, you will definitely get to enjoy a lot of delicious food."
When Paul was mentioned, Freya immediately became interested.
"I know. Yesterday he showed me the photos on his phone. Oh my, every photo makes you hungry! And he even makes perfume. How can he be so talented at such a young age?"
"In terms of fashion, he definitely wasn't influenced by me."
Isabella thought she didn't have much sense of style.
Freya asked again, "Having a child is often described as a trial for women. Did you feel a lot of pain when giving birth to them?"
Isabella shrugged. "I never had that chance, actually. I didn't even know how the child was born. When I woke up, I found out that the children had already been born, so I didn't experience the pain of childbirth, nor did I have the opportunity to take pictures of them right after they were born."
Freya was puzzled. "You fainted when you got off work. Normally, if someone had saved you, they would have definitely taken you to the hospital instead of taking you to the woods."
"If I were to say that I encountered a bad person, but that person did not harm me and the children, they just left me in the woods."
"I feel like he wants you guys to self-destruct, but I also feel like this guess is incorrect. If he wanted to harm someone, he didn't need to make you give birth to the baby, but he even performed stitches on you."
During today's walk, they talked about the births of these three children. Isabella accidentally mentioned that she was abandoned in the woods.
However, she didn't mention her savior, nor did she talk about her life in the mountains, but rather in the countryside at the foot of the hills.
Isabella was quite puzzled as well. This question had been bothering her all along.
The person who took her there didn't seem to be harming her, nor did they seem to be genuinely helping her, just acting strangely.
"Did that person leave any clues behind?"
Isabella shook her head. "No."
"Did he never show up again later?"
"No."
"It's so strange," Freya thought for a moment and said, "Forget it. Since you can't figure it out, just don't think about it for now. You'll know the truth sooner or later anyway."
Isabella nodded, because she also thought so.
Many things were just like that. One could rack their brain, but still couldn't figure it out.
But when one gave up thinking, they would suddenly understand everything.
"Let's not just talk about me and the kids. Let's talk about you and Eleanor over the years. I want to hear."
Freya said, "I am still the same as before, nothing has changed.
"Speaking of which, the most headache-inducing thing for me right now is my mom. She, an intellectual, has actually started urging me to get married every day!
"She is really annoying!
"Besides her, there is my aunt, Melody. Oh my, I used to be scared of seeing them. Every time I saw them together, I would feel like I was going to collapse."
Isabella couldn't help but laugh, "I didn't expect Katherine to urge you to get married."
"The current Katherine is no longer the Katherine you knew. I suspect she has been influenced by Melody. She not only wants me to get married, but also wants me to marry into a wealthy family! Looking at myself, with my appearance, figure, education, and job being average, which wealthy man would be willing to marry me? He must be blind to agree, right?!"
Freya mercilessly criticized herself and then started criticizing Katherine.
"In the past, she used to get angry with me every day because of my stupidity, and she even cried out of anger. She complained every day, wondering why both she and my dad were geniuses, while their daughter, me, was so foolish.
"She even started to doubt that I was their biological daughter. If it weren't for the fact that I look so much like them, they would have probably taken me for a paternity test by now.
"She used to say that for every two top students, there would be one underachiever.
"If they weren't getting older and busy with work, they would probably be ready to have another child.
"After I started working, she stopped nagging me. But who would have thought, she started urging me to get married? Her mindset is really a waste of her high education. Now, she has turned into a matchmaker."
Isabella smiled and said, "You have been out of college for several years now, and it's about time for you to get married."
"I don't want to get married. I am very comfortable living alone, so why would I need to find a boyfriend? If I'm lucky, I could find a man who cares for his wife like Daniel and keeps himself clean. But if luck isn't on my side, I might end up with a scumbag. Why would I do this?
"I just really liked my life back then, with a job, social life, and the circle I enjoyed. When I wanted to have fun, I could easily find someone to play with me. When I wanted peace and quiet, I could just be alone. If I wanted to travel, I could simply go, and when I didn't feel like moving, I could stay at home all day.
"I used to earn 900 dollars a month. That money was enough to support myself. If I got married, I might end up having to support my husband. Just the thought of not even having money to buy potato chips is terrifying!"
What Freya said made some sense.
That was what marriage was like. Marry a good husband, and life would be on the upswing. However, if you married a scumbag, you'd just end up in tears. The key was, it took a long time of living together to determine if a man was a scumbag.
