Chapter 94 Isabella: Am I a Female Pervert?
Donna's eyes flashed with disdain as she muttered, "Got it," not really caring what the other person had said.
She hung up and turned to Alison, "Turns out Frederick doesn't even like her. He's only dealing with her because of Dennis. She's good with kids, and Frederick wants her to help Dennis."
Alison's eyes widened, "Wait, you mean she can actually help Dennis? If she can, Frederick would do anything for her!"
Donna stayed calm, "No way. She can't cure him. She doesn't even have a proper certificate; she's just a lucky fraud. She helped Albert twice by chance, and now Frederick's got his hopes up."
"A fraud? So she's just using Dennis to get close to Frederick?"
"Exactly."
"Then we should expose her right now!"
"No need. If she can use Dennis, so can we."
"Mom, what are you planning?"
Donna's eyes gleamed with calculation, "Remember, we're not the only ones who want Dennis out. Some folks in the Valdemar family want him gone too. If we tell them Isabella can save Dennis, what do you think they'll do?"
Alison blinked, "They'll definitely go after Isabella! They won't let Dennis live! Mom, you want to use them?"
"Exactly. Learn from this! A woman needs to have some tricks up her sleeve."
Isabella had no clue someone was plotting against her, wanting her dead.
As soon as she got back home, she dove into Freya's study.
She sat in front of the computer, searching for info on Dennis's case.
Maybe it was because Dennis looked so much like Hugo and Justin, or maybe it was because Dennis had called her "Mommy" in his daze, but she really wanted to help him.
She hoped Dennis could get better and live a happy life like a normal kid.
Isabella sat in front of the computer for over three hours straight, only getting up when it was time to make lunch.
She didn't find any particularly useful info, which left her a bit disappointed.
The best way to help Dennis now was to integrate into his life.
She needed to observe him, understand him, and then help him out of his trauma.
But now, Dennis got agitated whenever he saw her. She needed to think carefully about how to integrate into his life.
Her phone rang.
It was Douglas calling.
She remembered she had a lunch meeting with Frederick today.
Isabella panicked. She had been so focused on Dennis that she almost missed something important!
She quickly answered, "Hello."
"Isabella, we're meeting at the café at noon today. Is that still okay for you?"
"No problem, I'll be there on time."
"Alright, just wanted to confirm. Frederick is good to go too, so have a good chat at lunch."
"Okay!"
After hanging up, Isabella checked the time and quickly went to the bathroom to freshen up, then headed straight to the kitchen.
She made lunch but didn't have time to eat any of it. She packed it up and rode her bike out the door.
When she arrived at Sunnyvale Community, she texted Frederick, [I'm at the entrance of your community. Can you come down?]
Frederick didn't reply. Isabella waited for a bit and was about to call when she saw him.
She quickly parked her bike and ran over with the lunchbox.
She ran too fast, slipped, and fell to the ground, the lunchbox rolling to the side.
Isabella hissed in pain and tried to stand up, but slipped and fell again.
The ground was covered in thick ice, making it easy to slip.
Falling twice and unable to stand, Isabella sat on the ground in pain and frustration, her face turning red.
She was wearing a light-colored long down jacket, a bear hat given to her by Freya, and a monster scarf from Dennis.
She looked bulky and funny, yet still cute.
Frederick watched her, looking like a light-colored bear.
He walked over, picked up the lunchbox, and stared down at Isabella without saying a word.
Isabella sat there, looking up at him, surprised he didn't help, "Help me up!"
She had fallen while bringing food for Dennis!
Frederick hesitated for a moment, then extended his hand.
His palm faced down, clearly not for her to hold, just offering his arm for support.
Why was he so guarded? Did he think she was some kind of pervert?
Isabella got annoyed, ignored his arm, and grabbed his pants to stand up.
Frederick glared, but before he could get mad, Isabella lost her balance and fell towards him.
Her eyes widened in panic, and she instinctively grabbed his tie. As her heel slipped, she fell backward.
The momentum pulled Frederick down with her.
Seeing they were both about to fall, Frederick quickly grabbed her waist and pulled her into his arms.
Isabella panted, "That was close!"
Frederick's breathing was also a bit erratic.
Suddenly, they heard laughter nearby.
It was the elderly couple from next door.
Frederick and Isabella felt super awkward and quickly separated.
Frederick swallowed nervously and greeted, "Hello."
The elderly couple chuckled, "What's the young lady's name?"
Isabella, with her flushed face, said, "I'm Isabella."
"Oh, Isabella, what are you two doing outside in this cold weather? It's freezing. Why don't you go inside?" one of them said.
"Go inside? Can't you see they're hugging? Hugging in the snow is the most romantic thing. Young people love it," the other answered.
Isabella's eyes widened, and she explained, "No, you misunderstood, I..."
"Go on, have fun. We're leaving."
Before Isabella could explain, the elderly couple walked towards the building entrance.
As they walked, they chatted, "I told you Isabella isn't a nanny, right? What kind of nanny hugs her employer? Look how close they are."
"Why don't they want to admit it?"
"It's obvious, they're shy! I bet they're just starting to date. They're not a married couple, just a young pair! How wonderful, I always said they look perfect together!"
Isabella and Frederick both fell silent.
"Old people, their eyesight is failing. They can't see that we're not a perfect match. Don't overthink it," Frederick said.
Isabella retorted angrily, "I'm not overthinking it, you are!"
Frederick frowned, "This won't happen again."
"What?"
"I told you I'm not interested in you. Don't try any tricks in front of me."
Isabella blinked, thinking carefully about his words!
Was he saying that she fell on purpose to seduce him?
"I've seen narcissists, but you're on another level! Egomaniac!"
"You..." Frederick was about to retort.
"Shameless! Unreasonable!" Isabella cut him off.
She said what he was going to say, leaving him speechless!
Sure enough, Frederick was at a loss for words, and after a long pause, he angrily said, "You're a woman. You should know self-esteem."
"What do you mean? Because you're a man, you don't need to know self-esteem?"
Frederick was speechless.
It wasn't the first time he had misunderstood her. Isabella didn't argue with him and got straight to the point, "How's Dennis? Anything happen when he woke up this morning?"
Talking about Dennis calmed Frederick down a bit, and he said coldly, "Nothing happened. He seemed to be in a good mood and said he had a dream about his mommy. He also finished all the food you sent this morning."
"That's good news. At least he didn't have any abnormal emotions. Give him this; it's his favorite sandwich." Then Isabella got on her bike and hurried away.
She still had to rush to the café to meet Frederick.
