Chapter 111 Hugo Figured Something Out

Isabella finished washing her face and stepped out.

Daniel noticed right away that something was off. "What's up? Why do you look so pale?" he asked.

Isabella gave him a complicated look for a few seconds before saying, "It's nothing, just a cold. I'm not feeling great."

Daniel was really worried. "Have you seen a doctor? The flu's been going around. If you're not feeling well, you should hit up the hospital and get some meds."

"I saw a doctor yesterday. It's no big deal," Isabella said, waving it off. She then changed the subject to Eleanor. "Have you heard from Eleanor lately?"

"Not yet," Daniel replied.

"Have you tried contacting her agent?" Isabella pressed.

"I've been trying, but it's like they've vanished. I even asked friends to reach out to her family, but they don't know where she is either," Daniel said, looking genuinely puzzled.

Isabella frowned. "Maybe we should call the police."

"Huh?" Daniel was taken aback.

Freya was also surprised. "Call the police? Why would we do that?"

"Eleanor's been out of touch for too long. I'm worried," Isabella explained.

"But Eleanor's a big star. Wouldn't calling the police hurt her reputation?" Freya looked concerned.

But Daniel frowned and said, "I think Isabella's right. We haven't been able to reach her for so long. I'm worried too. I'll try contacting her for a few more days, and if that doesn't work, we'll call the police."

Isabella glanced at Daniel.

He didn't seem to mind the idea of calling the police. Maybe he wasn't lying. Maybe he really didn't know where Eleanor was.

In the bedroom, Hugo and Justin had something to discuss privately, so they sent Paul out to keep Isabella company.

The two of them huddled in front of the computer.

"Still haven't found anything?" Justin was anxious.

Hugo had been trying to dig up info on the masked person since last night but had come up empty-handed.

Given Hugo's status in the hacker community, the fact that he couldn't find anything meant the masked person was very skilled and mysterious.

The more skilled and mysterious he was, the more dangerous he was to them.

When the police came today, Hugo figured some things out.

Last night, the masked person must have known he was going to retrieve that item!

He deliberately placed Anna on that item to leave behind his or Justin's fingerprints.

The masked person wanted to leave evidence of them committing murder!

Why would he do that?

If they had really killed Anna last night, was he planning to use the evidence to blackmail them? Or did he have another motive?

Logically speaking, they had no chance to offend such a person.

Hugo, Justin, and Paul were still young and had always lived abroad, with no chance to make enemies.

And Isabella was as ordinary as could be, so she wouldn't have offended someone so mysterious.

So, the likelihood of the masked person targeting them was small.

He might be trying to use them against Frederick!

After all, they were Frederick's sons. Using them against Frederick was a feasible plan.

But the question was, how did the masked person know about their relationship with Frederick?

And all of this was just speculation, not confirmed information.

Since they couldn't find any information about him, it was hard to say whether he was their enemy or Frederick's enemy.

Hugo was eager to know the answer, but before he could figure it out, a message from Nicholas popped up: [Always IsaBabe's, did you get the item?]

Hugo frowned.

Anna had an incident last night, and Nicholas must have known. His question now indicated suspicion.

Hugo replied: [Yes.]

[Good. There was an incident last night, and I was worried you didn't get it.]

Hugo lied: [I picked it up during the day.]

Before Nicholas could reply, Hugo added: [We have a lead on the person you're investigating. I'll get the information to you in the next couple of days.]

[Great, thank you.]

Nicholas's subordinate turned to him and said, "Mr. Valdemar, it seems we were wrong. Always IsaBabe's wasn't the one who attacked Anna last night. He picked up the item during the day."

Nicholas frowned, looking puzzled. "But the spot where Anna was found was exactly where we placed the item. It's too suspicious."

"Actually, it makes sense. That spot was chosen by Always IsaBabe's because it was relatively hidden. The attacker would also choose a hidden spot to attack Anna," his subordinate explained.

Nicholas pondered for a while and then nodded. "Alright, let's not dwell on this for now. Always IsaBabe's has a lead. Make sure our assets are ready to cooperate with that person."

"Yes! By the way, early next month is the Valdemar family's annual cemetery visit, and everyone has to go. But given Dennis's condition... Last year, there was almost an incident. Should we notify Dennis this year?" the subordinate asked.

Nicholas sternly replied, "He is the only heir of the Valdemar family. How can he miss such an important event? Let him go! Whether others mock or humiliate him, it doesn't matter. I just need him to stay alive, not to live well! It will also be a good opportunity to humble Frederick! No matter how capable he is, Dennis is still a useless wreck!"

For the next few days, it rained heavily in Teronica, pouring day and night, as if God was mourning for someone.

Isabella remained ill. After seeing Daniel off that day, she fell sick again. She had been worried and caught in the rain, and her body couldn't take it. She had a high fever that wouldn't go away and had been sick for several days.

Frederick's life returned to its old routine. He spent his time either at home with Dennis or working at the company. After the argument with Isabella, his mood had been very low. Moreover, in these recent days, Dennis has not been eating properly, barely touching even the food he himself prepares, which only exacerbates his frustration. His mood worsened!

When Frederick was in a bad mood, everyone around him suffered. Frederick was a typical workaholic. While others might lose focus at work when angry, he would work overtime. Normally, he would leave work at 5:30 PM, and everyone else would leave when he did. Lately, Frederick had been working late into the night. No one dared to leave, and they had no chance to.

Frederick was already highly efficient at work, and when he was angry, his productivity became extraordinary; documents were signed in a flash, and projects progressed seamlessly and rapidly. To keep up with his pace, his subordinates didn't even have time to go home for dinner, and they wished they could take their computers to the bathroom.

More importantly, Frederick's anger usually didn't last more than three days. This meant his subordinates would only suffer for a day or two, and they could endure it. But this time, it had been almost a week, and it still wasn't over!

His subordinates couldn't take it anymore and complained to Elliot, "Elliot, what's wrong with Mr. Valdemar? Who made him unhappy? If it continues, we're really going to be sacrificed."

Elliot was also worried. He felt bad for both his subordinates and Frederick. He personally made a cup of Frederick's favorite coffee and reluctantly knocked on the CEO's office door.

As soon as he entered, Elliot asked, "Frederick, are you working late again tonight?"
