Chapter 140 How About I Be Your Daddy?

He quickly tracked the masked guy's location and realized he was super close, like just 150 feet away in a straight line.

He's in this building!

Hugo immediately got cautious. He furrowed his little brows, thought for a second, and shot a message to Isabella.

Hugo: [Mom, take Dennis to another room. I'm heading out.]

Isabella replied right away: [Are you sure? Isn't it too risky?]

Hugo: [No, Dennis's dad is out. It's the perfect time for me to leave.]

Honestly, he could've left without the masked guy's help. He was in a rush to leave because he wanted to find the masked guy!

Isabella: [Okay.]

Soon after, Isabella coaxed Dennis into the study.

Hugo heard the noise, quickly crawled out from under the bed, put on his mask, and quietly slipped out of the house.

He touched Blizzard in his sleeve and said, "Blizzard, I'm gonna meet a very mysterious stranger. Keep me safe, and I'll get you some yummy food when we get back."

Blizzard was a little foodie, loving stuff like crab legs, shrimp, and salmon.

Hearing Hugo, Blizzard wriggled in response. Hugo gently petted it again.

He wasn't very skilled, and without Blizzard, he wouldn't dare to find the masked guy.

But with Blizzard, he could be bold!

Following the navigation, Hugo went down to the second floor and stopped in front of room 201.

His position matched the red dot on his watch screen, proving the masked guy was inside room 201!

Hugo furrowed his brows tightly. Just as he looked up, the door opened.

Before Hugo could react, a big hand yanked him inside!

Blizzard sensed danger and instantly darted out from Hugo's sleeve.

The masked guy reacted quickly too, stepping back several times before Blizzard could get him.

He stood a few meters away, tilting his head slightly, seemingly curious about Blizzard.

Blizzard climbed up Hugo's arm to his shoulder, raised its head, flicked its tongue, and stared menacingly at the masked guy.

The room was full of dust, showing it hadn't been lived in for a long time.

Now, it was just the three of them inside.

The masked guy, dressed in a black robe and a creepy mask, stared at Blizzard for a while. Suddenly, he raised his hand, greeted Blizzard, and laughed.

The laugh was eerie and sinister!

Blizzard immediately bared its teeth at him, ready to attack.

Hugo checked out the masked guy. Even though he was dressed like a ghost, his robe was super clean, with almost no wrinkles.

Plus, the high-quality fabric showed he cared about his appearance..

His hands were clean and fair, with long, slender fingers and neatly trimmed nails, not like a rough person.

This was far from the image Hugo had in mind.

That night in the park, it was too dark to see clearly, and with the voice changer making his voice eerie, Hugo thought he was a scruffy person. Unexpectedly...

Steadying his mind, Hugo asked, "Who are you? Why are you hanging around us?"

"How about we become friends?" the masked guy said.

"Friends should be real with each other. If you wanna be friends with us, drop the mask and show your true self."

Hugo really wanted to see what he looked like and know who he was.

The masked guy, however, laughed and said, "How about you kill Frederick, and I'll show you my real face?"

Hugo furrowed his brows tightly, trying to probe as he asked, "Do you have a grudge against Frederick?"

He asked this to figure out if the masked guy was targeting Frederick or them.

The masked guy didn't answer but said, "Or, how about you let your mom be with me? If she's with me, I'll let you see my real face. I'll be your dad, okay? Call me dad, and I'll help you kill Frederick, alright?"

Hugo stayed silent.

Was this guy nuts?

Talking about killing people so casually!

Because he mentioned Isabella, Hugo's face turned ice-cold.

"I never thought about killing Frederick, and there's no way I'm letting you be my dad. If you have a beef with Frederick, that's your business. But if you mess with my mom, you're done for!" Hugo snapped.

"You sure are small but mighty," the masked guy said, almost amused.

Then, as if sensing something, he suddenly jumped out the window.

Hugo rushed to the window, but the masked guy had already vanished.

In and out like a ghost.

The next second, Elliot's voice came from outside the door, "This house looks empty. Should we check inside? He might be hiding in there."

"Break the door down!" Frederick ordered coldly.

Hugo's brows furrowed again. He quickly climbed out the window, slid down the pipe to the first floor, and bolted out of Sunnyvale Community.

Once he was out, Hugo was deep in thought.

He was super wary of the masked guy. Even though he met him today, he got nothing—no info at all.

He still didn't know if the masked guy was after Frederick or them.

If it was Frederick, then whatever. Frederick could handle his own problems.

But if it was them, Hugo needed to find out who this guy was and what he wanted!

And he mentioned Isabella!

Hugo glanced back at Sunnyvale Community, frowning.

He put his little hand in his pocket and felt a wad of tissue.

He pulled it out, opened it, and found a strand of hair inside.

It was the hair he secretly yanked from Frederick's head when Frederick was carrying him at the cemetery today.

He'd heard the Valdemar family had only one heir per generation, so he had doubts about his connection to Frederick.

He planned to do a paternity test.

Hugo pulled out one of his own hairs, placed it with Frederick's, made a call, and asked someone to take it for testing.

In the evening, after Isabella came back, she showed a photo to Hugo and Justin, asking if they recognized the person in the picture.

Hugo and Justin immediately knew it was the masked guy!

But they lied and said they didn't know him.

Isabella immediately called Frederick, "I've already asked. My son hasn't seen this person! Don't even think about harassing my son! Or I'll be mad at you!"

Then she hung up.

Frederick was annoyed. Like Hugo, he was very concerned about the masked guy.

They both wanted to find out more about him because he could be a potential threat.

But he slipped away again today, and the newly repaired surveillance in the community was trashed, capturing nothing. They'd been busy all afternoon and got zilch!

Just as he was about to light a cigarette, Dennis suddenly came over and asked, "Did you touch my computer?"

"What? No, why?"

Dennis looked puzzled.

Frederick said, "Maybe it was Isabella. You should ask her."

Dennis didn't say anything, turned around, went back to his room, and locked the door.

With Isabella's smarts, how could she crack his password?

Even though it wasn't cracked, it was clear someone with tech skills had tried.

And knowing Isabella, if she needed to use his computer, she'd tell him. She wouldn't mess with his stuff without asking.

So, it couldn't have been Isabella.

If it wasn't Isabella or Frederick, then someone else had been in his room!

Who could it be?

Dennis furrowed his brows, his expression instantly turning grim!

He scanned his room with a dark face but found nothing unusual. His gaze fixed on the calendar.

The 5th, the day of the family memorial event. Why didn't Frederick call him to go?

He missed the family memorial event, and a stranger had been here. Something was definitely off!

Dennis furrowed his little brows, thought for a moment, then turned and went to the study, coldly asking Frederick, "Why didn't we go to the family memorial event today?"
