Chapter 82 Try Touching Her Again

Elliot was behind the wheel, glancing in the rearview mirror at Frederick, who was rubbing his temples non-stop. "Hey, man, don't stress. At least Isabella's safe," he said.

Frederick snapped back, "You think I'm upset because of her? Why should I care what happens to her?"

Elliot just kept quiet, not knowing what to say.

Frederick continued, "Am I so intimidating that you can't even talk?"

"No, no, you've got a great temper," Elliot replied quickly.

"Who are you talking about?" Frederick's eyes narrowed.

Elliot felt like crying—calling Frederick good-tempered was wrong, but saying he had a bad temper would make him furious!

Clearing his throat, Elliot braced himself. "Frederick, chill out. In today's mess, Ms. Walter's probably the one to blame! Sure, Isabella's the victim, but she did hit you and curse you after you saved her. That's kinda ungrateful."

Frederick snorted, "She can't tell right from wrong!"

"Yeah, yeah, but think about it. Isabella went through hell today. She was scared, desperate, and emotional. When she saw you, she didn't think of your kindness; she remembered how you treated her before."

"Did I treat her badly before?" Frederick asked, his face darkening.

"Not great, because of some misunderstandings," Elliot admitted.

Frederick's face got even darker. "It's her fault I treated her badly."

"Yeah, yeah, totally her fault. You couldn't be wrong," Elliot said quickly.

Frederick went silent.

Elliot smiled nervously. "I mean, no matter who was at fault before, Isabella doesn't think much of you. So today, she took it all out on you."

Frederick's face darkened further. "Does she think I'm easy to bully?"

"Not really," Elliot mumbled.

Frederick didn't respond, lighting a cigarette with a dark expression. Even though Elliot's explanation was shaky, it was somewhat acceptable. After all, his attitude towards Isabella had been bad before. She already had issues with him, and today she let it all out.

Frederick never connected Isabella to the woman from six years ago. After a few puffs, he said, "Get someone to find out who hurt Glen!"

Elliot's expression turned serious. "I'll make the call right away."

After visiting the Walter family today, Frederick had asked Glen about the situation. Glen said the assailant made it clear it was because he bullied Isabella. The assailant even warned that if he bullied Isabella again, it would cost him his life!

Glen was terrified and offered, "How much did they pay you? I'll pay ten times the amount, just spare me."

The assailant coldly replied, "I don't just work for money! Not everyone can hire me! Remember, stay away from Isabella in the future!"

So, Glen was castrated because of Isabella. Someone was standing up for her! Either the assailant knew Isabella and had deep feelings for her, or the person who hired the assailant did.

But after all this time, they were pretty sure Isabella was just an ordinary woman. She hadn't been back to Teronica for long and had no power or influence there. The most powerful people she knew were Eleanor and Freya. But Freya wouldn't castrate Glen, and Eleanor wasn't even in Teronica and didn't know Isabella was back.

So, who was standing up for Isabella? It was a mystery. This person must have deep feelings for her, considering Glen's sensitive identity and his public claim of being related to Frederick. If the person didn't have deep feelings for Isabella, he wouldn't dare to act.

Thinking back to the last time someone breached the Valdemar Group's security system, sent him an invitation, and overnight stole a highly valuable business deal from him, Frederick now suspected someone was behind Isabella. And it was very likely Isabella was unaware of this person's existence! Or maybe she knew of this person but didn't know what he had done.

In any case, Frederick wanted to get to the bottom of these tangled matters.
