Chapter 117 Frederick Can't Win an Argument with Isabella
When Frederick showed up to see Isabella, she had just hung up with Arnold.
First, she worried about Dennis, then she started stressing over Eleanor.
When it came to Eleanor, Arnold was her only go-to. For one, Arnold's family was loaded and had the means to dig up more info. Plus, Arnold really cared about Eleanor.
She hadn't spilled the beans to Freya about Eleanor still being in the country. If Freya found out, she'd just freak out like Isabella and be no help at all.
And she definitely hadn't told Daniel. Something about him just made her uneasy.
The doorbell rang, and Isabella, in her comfy loungewear, came out of her room. She called out, "Who is it?"
No answer.
Outside, Frederick, looking all serious, glared at Elliot and said, "Say something!"
Elliot was confused.
Why was it his job to speak up? Who was the one wanting to see Isabella anyway?
Clearing his throat, Elliot cheerfully called out, "Ms. Beniere, it's me, Elliot."
Isabella liked Elliot well enough and opened the door without a second thought, asking, "Elliot, what's up?"
But then she saw Frederick, and her face changed instantly!
Her brows knitted together, and she got super hostile, asking, "What are you doing here?"
The switch from warm to cold was intense.
Seeing how differently Isabella treated him compared to Elliot, Frederick was pissed. His lips were pressed tight, clearly holding back his anger.
It had been ages since anyone dared to be so rude to him!
Elliot quickly tried to smooth things over, saying, "Thanks for cooking for Dennis today. We came to say thanks and also to talk about Dennis."
When Elliot heard they were coming to see Isabella, he made a point to come back to the villa.
He brought some supplements and two gift-wrapped seafood items: a rare Alaskan king crab and a blue lobster from Brittany.
With gifts in hand, it was clear they wanted to come in as guests.
Since it was about Dennis, Isabella couldn't just kick Elliot out, so she reluctantly let them in.
As soon as they got inside, Elliot's phone rang. He said, "Ms. Beniere, you and Eric can talk. I'll go downstairs to take this call."
Isabella was speechless. Now it was just the two of them in the room.
Out of politeness, she poured Frederick a glass of water. Her attitude made it seem like she wanted to throw it in his face rather than offer it to him.
Frederick was cautious, saying, "I'm not thirsty!"
Isabella had just poured half a glass and set it on the table with a bad attitude, retorting, "Drink it if you want."
Frederick stayed silent.
Isabella sat down across from him. She wore soft cotton loungewear with a small chrysanthemum pattern and white lace trim, simple and conservative yet fresh and elegant, perfectly matching her vibe.
She looked beautiful but not flashy.
She gave off the impression of a gentle, well-behaved woman.
But as soon as Isabella spoke, she turned from a kitten into a tiger. She said coldly, "Say what you have to say quickly!"
Frederick frowned, holding back his anger, saying, "Thank you for caring about Dennis."
"You're welcome. My concern for Dennis has nothing to do with you!"
It was purely because Dennis looked exactly like Hugo and Justin, and she felt sorry for him.
Frederick insisted, "I am his father!"
Isabella shot back, "That still has nothing to do with you! Dennis is his own person. I only care about him, period! If that's all you came for, you can leave. You're not welcome here!"
Frederick was barely holding it together, saying, "Can you just talk normally? I'm not here to fight."
Isabella wasn't about to calm down. She yelled, "Who's fighting with you?! Do I even know you well enough to fight with you?"
Frederick asked, "Is this how you treat people who come to thank you?"
"Who thanks someone with a face like they're looking for a fight? If you didn't want to come, you shouldn't have. No one made you!" Isabella snapped back.
"Isabella!"
"Dog!"
His voice was loud, but Isabella's was louder! He called her name, and she called him a dog! So, who was really scared?
Frederick was so mad his breathing got shaky. He angrily said, "What did you call me?! You are simply..."
Before he could finish, Isabella cut him off, "Simply unreasonable, right? I am unreasonable. What are you gonna do about it?"
"Isabella!"
"Don't call my name! This is the only attitude I have towards you. If you can't handle it, you can leave now! Stop bothering me!"
Frederick was so furious he couldn't even speak.
Always used to commanding respect, the proud and noble Frederick had lost an argument!
Since he could remember, Frederick had never felt so humiliated.
Even those in the Valdemar family who constantly plotted against him had never dared to be so arrogant in front of him!
Unable to bear the humiliation, he wanted to get up and leave, never to acknowledge Isabella again!
But thinking of Dennis, he could only press his lips tightly, clench his back teeth, and glare at her!
He glared at her fiercely!
For Dennis, he endured!
Frederick gritted his teeth, saying, "Do you think that if Dennis hadn't asked me, I would have come to see you?"
He would never have come to see her!
Isabella had completely changed his perception of women. He had seen all kinds of women, but never one like her!
Overbearing, unreasonable, and irrational!
Hearing this, Isabella's attitude softened a bit. She asked, "Dennis asked you to come?"
Frederick's face was dark as he said, "Dennis wants to see you."
"What did you say?" Isabella asked, astonished.
"I said Dennis wants to see you."
Isabella's eyes widened, blinking in disbelief, asking, "Dennis wants to see me?"
"Yes!"
"Doesn't he find me annoying? Why would he suddenly want to see me?" Isabella asked.
Before Frederick could respond, the voices of Hugo, Justin, and Paul suddenly came from outside, "Mommy will be so happy to see us back early. I wonder what Mommy is doing right now?"
"Keep your voice down. Let's surprise Mommy."
The password lock clicked, and the door was pushed open.
Isabella jumped up from the sofa, feeling like she was struck by lightning!
She panicked and, without thinking, grabbed Frederick's arm and pulled him into the nearest bedroom.
She didn't even have time to close the bedroom door before Hugo, Justin, and Paul rushed in.
"Mommy! Your little darlings are back early! Surprised?" Justin said excitedly.
Isabella was in a state of panic, hearing Hugo, Justin, and Paul getting closer. She was about to lose her mind.
She quickly opened the closet door and shoved Frederick inside!
It wasn't until the closet door was closed that Isabella realized she had also gone inside.
By the time she wanted to get out, it was too late. Justin had already run in. He exclaimed loudly, "Mommy!"
