Chapter 150 Can I Call You Mommy?
Frederick stared at her, eyes locked, and said, "Yes!"
Isabella looked totally confused. "How is that even possible? I never talked to him about this stuff."
"You think I'm buying that?"
"Come on, think about it. With Dennis's personality, do you really think I could've taught him that? Even if I tried, would he listen? Could I have actually pulled it off?"
Frederick's brows knitted together; she had a point.
"Plus, you know Dennis loves his mom more than anything. Why would he ditch her? Did you mishear something?" Isabella asked.
Last night, Dennis was a mess, bawling his eyes out as he ran to Isabella.
Frederick thought they had talked about Dennis's mom, and Dennis felt bad for her, so he went to Isabella for comfort.
But looking back, that wasn't it at all!
Maybe Dennis had already decided Isabella was his mom last night!
That's why he was so emotional and desperate to find her.
Dennis ditching his mom for Isabella probably meant Isabella was his real mom!
But the paternity test said otherwise. Isabella and Dennis weren't related! So why would Dennis say that?
There had to be a reason!
Frederick couldn't think of any other explanation. Even though Isabella's argument made sense, he still thought she was the problem.
After all, if Dennis became her son or if he became her husband, Isabella stood to gain the most!
"I warned you when you came to take care of Dennis, don't get any funny ideas! Don't target me and Dennis. We both have someone in our hearts, you..." Frederick said coldly.
"Shut up!" Isabella cut him off. "If I really taught Dennis, fine, scold me. But I didn't say or do anything. What gives you the right to accuse me?
You warned me, and I warned you too. Don't think you're all that and everyone likes you! You're nothing to me; I don't like you at all! Forget about pursuing you; I'd be grateful if you don't come after me.
And let me be clear: I'd love Dennis as my son, but you as my husband? No way."
Isabella finished and stormed off, leaving Frederick fuming.
Dennis had been watching from the study. Seeing Isabella upset, he quickly ran over. "What happened?"
"Nothing."
"Did my daddy upset you?"
Isabella couldn't help but say, "He's nuts!"
Dennis clenched his little fists. "I'll go deal with him!"
Isabella quickly pulled him back. "It's okay, I didn't lose anything."
Thinking of Frederick's words, Isabella pulled Dennis to sit on the living room sofa.
"Dennis, your daddy said you want to be my son."
Dennis got nervous. He looked at Isabella cautiously, his lips moved but he didn't dare to speak.
Isabella smiled gently. "I'm really happy you feel that way. You wanting to be my son means you like me, and I like you too. Even though we're not related by blood, we have a strong bond. If you don't mind, we can be a family from now on."
Dennis blinked, asking cautiously, "Can I call you mommy?"
"Of course, if you want to."
Dennis's eyes instantly welled up, and he threw himself into Isabella's arms. "Mommy!"
"Yes, mommy's here."
Dennis started bawling.
Even though Isabella didn't know they had a blood connection, being called "mommy" made her feel genuinely happy!
She said, "Since you called me mommy, we're mother and son from now on. If something's bothering you, just tell me. Don't keep it all inside."
Dennis nodded, still sobbing. "Okay!"
Dennis cried hard, and Isabella tried to comfort him for a long time but couldn't calm him down. She ended up with red eyes herself.
Emotions are contagious, and so are tears.
Dennis crying in her arms made her heart ache. It felt like a long-lost son had finally come home.
Isabella held Dennis tightly, letting him cry it out. When she noticed the food was getting cold, she wiped his tears and looked at him gently. "Let's stop crying. Today is a happy day; we should smile, right?"
Dennis nodded with red eyes. He wanted to smile at Isabella but couldn't figure out how.
Isabella chuckled at his awkward expression. "Alright, we won't cry or force a smile. But I need to tell you something. Feelings can't be forced. I only like you, not your daddy. Your daddy doesn't like me either, so I won't let him be my husband."
Dennis furrowed his little brows and asked, "What if my daddy likes you?"
"He doesn't like me; he only likes your mommy. In that sense, he's very devoted."
Dennis quickly asked, "You don't like devoted people?"
Isabella smiled. "That's not what I mean. I mean, regardless of your daddy's nature, the fact that he only likes your mommy proves he's devoted, which is a good trait. But there's really no chance between him and me."
Dennis looked a bit disappointed, and Isabella noticed. She comforted him, "But even if I don't end up with your daddy, it doesn't change our relationship. I'll always love you very much."
Dennis's big eyes sparkled. "I will too, always love you very much."
After saying that, his little face turned red.
It was his first time confessing to a woman, and he felt shy.
Isabella smiled again, feeling better. "Let's go eat."
"Okay." Dennis nodded eagerly and went to the dining room with Isabella.
As for Frederick, let him eat or not!
He must have upset Isabella again, which is why she stormed out of the study.
After upsetting Isabella, how could he have the nerve to eat the breakfast she made? Let him starve!
Isabella and Dennis had breakfast, washed the dishes, cleaned the table, mopped the floor, and tidied up the room together.
Both Isabella and Dennis were in a good mood, occasionally laughing out loud. The atmosphere was harmonious and beautiful, full of sunshine.
Meanwhile, Frederick was alone, smoking a cigarette with a gloomy face, looking almost depressed in the study.
Dennis's words had pushed him into a corner.
Now Dennis was determined to recognize Isabella as his mommy, but if he didn't agree, Dennis would leave with her, and if he did, what about Dennis's biological mother?
As a man, he had to keep his word! No matter what, he wouldn't give up searching for Dennis's mother, nor would he be with another woman!
But how could he break the current deadlock?
Frederick pondered for a long time, realizing that the breakthrough point was still Isabella!
So, while Dennis was taking a nap, he called Isabella into the study again.
