Mother of the Moon - Chapter 115 - Exploring

Lunaya.

I finished off my breakfast and started to pull on a pair of denim shorts when Alyse finally reemerged from the bathroom. She had her brown hair pulled up into a high ponytail, showing off her freckled face. She had on a pair of cargo shorts and a dark blue tank top. She walked over to me and pressed her lips to my cheek, I could smell the fresh toothpaste on her breath.
“Okay, let’s go” I said with a smirk,
“You’re ready then?” she said while looking me up and down,
“Sure am” I stood in front of her with my hand on my hips and my legs shoulder width apart.
“Well, I'm not one to argue, and I reckon a few of the locals would for sure like your outfit, however I have some concerns” Alyse held back a smile as she rubbed her chin, eyeing me.
“What could possibly be wrong?” I teased.
“The boots, great, and practical. The shorts, also great. The lack of shirt and bra, I find a little worrying” Alyse spoke, trying her hardest to maintain a straight face.
“Oh, you think I should change my top?”
“I think you should probably wear a shirt, yes” she laughed.
“You’re no fun”
“You know what, you do you. Goddess knows I’ve seen them enough, why not let the rest of Lua Chei have a looksee” Alyse threw her arms up with a shrug, chuckling quietly to herself. I laughed and pulled a tank top out of my backpack, dragging it over my head.
“Nah, these puppies are for your eyes only” I jeered.
“Come now, enough of the peep show, let’s go for a walk” Alyse smiled and walked past me through the patio doors. I followed behind her and we made our way towards the river's edge. We passed the hot tub, memories of the relaxing night before spent cuddling into Alyse in the heated water came back to me. Further up the river was a small bridge that led to the thick forest on the other side. The air was crisp and clean and full of the scent of the forest. I could smell the wet moss on the shadowed forest floor and the damp dirt of the earth. Old tree bark and new seedlings, mixed with the many forest animals hit my senses. The path through the trees twisted and turned along the forest floor. With every step deeper into the woods, the wolf inside begged to be freed.
“I think I might change, go for a bit of a run” I said aimlessly to Alyse as my eyes grazed over the treetops.
“I think that’s a great idea” she chirped. Without needing any more convincing, I kicked off my boots, tugged down my shorts and pulled my shirt off. I let myself fall towards the ground, with a few cracks and breaks, I landed on the soft dirt on my paws. I shook out my long black and white fur and let the fresh air wash over my wolf body.
Alyse ran her hand through my coat, up along my back. The sensation sent a shiver shooting down my spine. I turned my giant head and licked her smiling face. I do still wish she had a wolf form. I’ve never really gotten use to the fact that we can’t run together, we can’t mate in wolf form and can’t connect on that extra level. Alyse though, it’s never bothered her. She never had a wolf, so she never truly knew what she was missing. For her she was happy with her heightened senses and strength and speed. Plus, she makes good use of her claws. But I don’t think the longing for her nonexistent wolf side will ever leave me.
***Stay here, I'll be right back***
She nodded once and I licked her face again, then took off through the trees, leaving the path behind me. I ran and jumped and ducked under branches, over fallen trees and large boulders. The freedom was exhilarating. The air flowing through my fur was unlike any other feeling in the world. I slowly turned back around with my nose to the air and made my way back to the path, where Alyse was waiting for me.
“Feeling better?” she smiled and stood from the ground as I approached.
***Much better***
“Are you changing back or staying this way” she asked, scratching behind my ear. I tilted my head to the side a little to allow her better access. A quiet growl crossed with a purr fell from my mouth as her fingers worked their magic.
“You big puppy” she laughed. I lifted my head and shook out my fur to get rid of the tingles that her fingers left on my pelt.
***Jump on, we’re going for a run***
I flashed and knelt down low enough so that she could climb onto my back.
“Oh we are, and where are you taking me?”
***You said you wanted to explore, so let's go explore***
“I like the way you think”.
Alyse climbed onto my back, leaned forward and wrapped her arms around my neck. Well as far as her arms could reach, my wolf is a lot larger than most she-wolves. Once I felt that she was secure, I bounded off through the trees. I was more careful with my movements, so to not knock her around too much. I ran all over the forest, staying within the pack boundaries. Nova Scotia is beautiful, there’s no questioning it. It reminds me of the Alaskan summers I had in my youth, before my whole world changed.
We came up to a river’s edge and stopped to take in the sight. Alyse sat up right on my back and gently ran her fingers through my fur. It was a deep dark blue, almost black, but that didn’t sway my interest. Large grey rocks littered the water's edge, before melting into the tree line. This section looks to be pretty deep, I assume it links back to the lodge somewhere down the line. As we stood quietly and watched, the water flowed freely, bubbling and splashing its way down river, calling to my inner child.
***Want to go for a dip?***
“Absolutely” Alyse called with large amount of excitement to her voice. Before she could climb off me, I ran for the water and jumped high into the sky. We came down with a large splash and Alyse shrieked.
“It’s freezing!” she screamed. My wolf huffed with laughter at her shocked expression. I swan over to her flailing body and let her grab hold of me. We swam back to the edge and Alyse ran out of the water.
“You couldn’t let me take my clothes off” she scolded as she stood shivering and dripping wet. She wrapped her arms around herself and glared down at me. She tried to be angry, but her eyes gave it away. Her lip twitched and she broke out into laughter.
“I have to walk back to the cabin soaking wet” she chuckled and looked down over herself.
***You can ride on me again***
“Thanks, but I still have to ride back wet and cold”
***Baby, you know I'll keep you warm, now get back in***
Alyse shook her head with a broad smile and kicked off her boots. She pulled off the rest of her wet clothes and splayed them out on the dry rocks in direct sunlight. As she stood naked in the sun, the light reflecting off her pale porcelain skin, I could feel a possessive growl working its way up. She's too exposed, anyone could see her out here. My eyes darted around the trees and I lifted my nose to the air. I can’t see anyone else, and the only thing I can smell is the water.
Alyse splashed her way back over to me, taking large quick steps. Probably to get use to the water quicker. It is cold, but with my layer of fur I don’t feel it like she does. Alyse flung her arm over my shoulder and we swam out into the middle of the river. The top layer of the water out here is a little bit warmer, due to the sun, but diving under and it hits you like ice. Floating is a little hard in a giant wolfs body, so I changed, and instantly regret it. I get it now, why Alyse screamed. The water is fucking cold!
“Holy fucking shit! It is cold” I hissed.
“See I told you, you thought I was just being dramatic, didn’t you?” Alyse laughed as she sawm in a small circle around me. I rolled onto my back and sprawled out, laying on the top of the water like a starfish.
“It’s better like this” I mumbled and closed my eyes, letting myself relaxing into the weightless feeling of floating.
I laid like that for I don’t know how long. Alyse swam around for a bit and came to float next to me and then swam some more. The sun had moved overhead, I would take a guess to say it’s early afternoon.
“Ladies” a gruff voice called from the tree line. I lifted my head and tread water to stay afloat, then looked over to the body standing by the water's edge.
***Who's that?***
Alyse flashed, coming up to my side.
***I’m not sure, I don’t think I've seen his face***
***Should we go over to him?***
“It’s okay, I'm Beta Bronson of Lua Chei. The Luna asked me to fetch you” he called and waved for us to come back to the shore.
“We’re coming” I called back.
***Stay behind me okay***
***Okay, but I really think he’s telling the truth***
***He is still a stranger***
We swam closer to the water's edge and paused. I looked the man over and he seems alright, though looks can be deceiving. He eyed us both curiously the whole time, not looking away once.
“If you don’t mind, we’re naked” I said roughly.
“Oh shit, I'm sorry. I brought towels, just in case” he said spinning around so that his back was facing us, and he pointed to the ground off to the side. There sat two large red towels. We quickly rushed from the water and wrapped the fluffy towels around ourselves. Beta Bronson turned back around and smiled at us. His deep and heavy voice doesn’t match his soft and happy exterior one bit.
“What’s this about?” I asked, looking him up and down.
“Luna Astéri and your Beta are waiting for you” he answered with a nod.
