The Moon's Descendant - Chapter 76 - The End

Zelena.

I am going to rip this piece of shit hunter to pieces. I threw forward my arm sending another hunter flying through the air. Tobias growled and snapped at the hunters, the heated fury coming from his body was only increasing my own anger. I was about to go for another hunter went I felt a presence in the clearing. A blur of dark grey fur ran into view and headed toward the fighters. Tobias’s head lifted and turned to the wolf and his ears pricked up, he knows this wolf. The wolf lunged onto a hunter and ripped his head clean off before grabbing hold of the next one. A muffled sound echoed over the humming gunfire and I searched for its source. My eyes landed on a sight that filled me pride and lust.
Gunner’s knees wrapped around the hunter's head as he gracefully threw his body through the air, landing in a crouching position. My eyes snapped to the hunter in front of him, pointing his gun at Gunners face. I felt my skin burst into flames of rage and my heart exploded inside me, I lifted off the ground ready to unleash hell on these monsters. I reached for the hunter, lifting him into the air. I tensed and turned my fingers, compacting his body in on itself. I let his broken and twisted body fall to the ground in front of Gunner. He turned to look at me and our eyes connect for moment, his eyes flickered with a silver glow before he turned back to the hunter ahead of him.
The gunfire against the force field died down. The dark grey wolf I saw attack the hunters had freed the other fighters, drawing the hunter's attention to them now. Tobias barged against the shield wall, hitting it with his shoulder.
***Let me out Zelena***
I let down the wall and my ears were ravaged by the sounds of dying screams and gunfire. Tobias took off and tackled the closest hunter, sinking his teeth deep into the hunter's side. With a vigorous shake of his head, the body of the hunter tore in half. I turned my focus back to Gunner. He was clearly a skilled and strong fighter, even in his human form. But there were still too many hunters. I flung my arm at the closest one to him, sending the hunter flying back towards the wall of a cabin. The next two I lifted high into the sky and pulled them back down to the ground at impossible speed. I quickly remembered the traps around the village. I sent two hunters flying towards the giant hole filled with spikes. Another one I pushed into the line of fire from a flame thrower. His feet landed on the weight pad, initiating the flames pouring down on him.
“Tobias Stop” I heard Gunner yell. I looked to Tobias who had Trevor pinned beneath him. I brought my feet back to the ground and stepped towards them.
***Not him, Tobias, not yet***
***I want his blood***
***You'll have it, just not yet***
“I want that one alive” Gunner demanded. Tobias leaned down and snapped his teeth at Trevor's face. He lifted his bloody paw off Trevor's chest and came back to stand beside me.
***He will die***
***Agreed***
Tobias huffed and growled gesturing to two of his wolves to step forward. They changed into their human form and pulled Trevor to his feet. We waited for a few minutes as Gunner flashed with the rest of the pack. After a moment Gunner slowly turned to glare at Trevor. An aura of red hot fury ran off him in waves as he stalked forward, releasing a rumbling growl.
“Why did you come here?” Gunner boomed.
“You know why” Trevor replied sarcastically,
“Why do you want the Triple Goddess?” he demanded. Trevor didn’t answer, he just smiled arrogantly. Gunner threw back his fist and crashed it into the side of Trevor's face.
“Answer me” he growled. Trevor glanced at me and winked, spitting blood from his mouth. That cocky bastard. He looked back to Gunner and smirked. Gunner leaned forward and growled at him loudly. This isn’t going to work, he won’t talk.
“Gunner” I called to him, but he held his hand out for me to be quiet. Is he for fucking real right now? Silencing me like that. My anger again began to bubble over. Tobias pressed his body against my shoulder, and I cooled down instantly
***Thank you***
He huffed in response.
“Talk hunter” Gunner roared.
“Her power can destroy your filthy kind. Her line can end you all” Trevor revealed with a hatred lacing his tone. Ah shit, Gunner is going to rip his head off now I thought. But instead he laughed. What the heck?
“You don’t know her at all” he chuckled and took a breath.
“She is a werewolf, she is our family. You thought you could turn her into one of you, turn her against her own kind” he bent over laughing hysterically. Oh god, I think he has lost his mind. Maybe he hit his head. His laugh was a little contagious, causing me to blurt out a small giggle.
“Baby are you alright?” I asked trying to stifle my own laugh.
Gunner turned to look at me and his cheerful face dropped. His brows furrowed together, and his lips pursed into a thin line. He looked back to Trevor and a wave of his anger washed over me. Gunner stepped up to Trevor taking his head in his hands.
“She will never be your weapon” he snarled softly, the venom in his voice was evident. I heard the snap of bone and Trevor's body fell to the ground with a thump. He was dead. Tobias growled lowly, sending shivers through my body. Before I could look away from Trevor’s lifeless body, I was pulled into Gunners arms. I snaked my arms around his back and pressed my face into his chest. He's okay, my Gunner is okay. I lifted my head to gaze at him. He had blood covering the entire left side of his face,
“You’re bleeding” I hissed as I forcefully grabbed his chin, turning his head so I could inspect his wounds. My eyes fell on his ear, the top half of it was now missing, leaving behind a burned and bloody mess.
“Your ear, Gunner” I gasped as I let him go. Oh, my sweet Gunner.
“I’m okay Zee, don’t panic” he said softly, his voice sounding like smooth velvet, though there was a tinge of pain behind it. I looked over his chest and abdomen and I noticed more blood on his shoulder. I inspected closer and found a bloodied hole on his upper arm. A bullet hole. My chest tightened and my skin prickled, they shot my Mate. My body started to ache and the urge to wolf out and kill everything around me was pulling at my bones. I swallowed hard, trying to fight against the change.
“They shot you” I growled in a low husky voice. There was no denying it, the change was happening, my body began to shake as my skin heated up. I am going to hunt down every last remaining hunter and tear them to shreds. I stared into Gunners eyes and the flicker of bright silver tried to shine through. His eye’s glow now? They tried to kill him. Those heinous hunters came here, to MY territory, endangering MY pack members and shot MY mate. I will end every hunter clan there is in this world and the next, if it’s the last thing I do. Just as I was about to give in and snap my bones, Gunners lips crashed against mine. He pulled me tighter into his body, hardening his kiss and forcing his tongue into my mouth. Mm, ‘my Gunner’ I groaned inwardly as I returned his kiss eagerly. I forgot my rage and murderous thoughts, they melted away at the feel of Gunners delicious lips.
After a minute he pulled away and gazed down at me. I suddenly felt breathless and full of lust. I wanted nothing more than to rip his clothes off and have his throbbing cock buried deep inside me.
“I’m okay Zelena, I need you to stay calm” he said smoothly pressing his forehead against mine.
“I’m sorry” I whispered,
“Don’t be sorry my love, just try and keep your cool okay”
“Okay” I replied, letting go of my desire and rage, for now at least.
“Is it over?” I asked peering into his eyes.
“It’s over” he nodded.
“How many are injured?”
“I don’t know yet, we have to wait for a full report from the commanders. Dad has been hurt though, it’s bad apparently”.
I paused, looking away from him, I tried to swallow the lump in my throat. Even though Lupus isn’t my father, since we shared that sweet moment at dinner on the night we met, I have come to care for him as my own. He has already done so much for me, more than my pretend father ever did.
“Oh Gunner, I'm so...”
A single shot echoed through the air, slicing the eery quiet of the after battle. I felt dull pain in my back and then an intense burning sensation. I gasped but couldn’t get a full breath. A searing pain shot through my body and my legs fell out from under me. I fell limp in Gunner’s arms. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t make a sound. The pain was unlike anything I have ever experienced. I could no longer feel my legs and the sheer agony coursing through my body was constricting my ability to breathe. I looked up to Gunner’s face, his mouth was moving in panic, but his words were silent to my ears. His eyes again shone with a magnificent silver glow. My body felt like it was floating on water, completely weightless. Darkness threatened to take my vision as my eyes began to cloud over. I reached up and cupped my hand to Gunner’s cheek, if his face was the last thing that I saw, then I would die happy.
A pained howl rang out all around me and I was swallowed by the darkness.
