Twin Moon - Chapter 243 - Alpha Doyle

Aurora.

Why would Gunner let it go?
“I apologise, friend, we did not mean to trespass on your land. My companion became lost” Gunner said to the other beast. The wolf struggled to its feet and tilted its head back, then howled into the sky. Great, now every fucking wolf in a five kilometre radius will be coming for us. The small beast stepped back, and then it too stood up on two human legs.
“State your business” the man demanded. He was on the older side, maybe early fifties. Though he was still in good shape, he had lived a rough life. His skin was painted with battle scars. The older man was grasping at his side, fresh blood was slowly seeping through his fingers.
“As I said, my companion became lost after we argued, I was just protecting her” Gunner said firmly.
“Can I help you? You’re still bleeding” Gunner asked as he stepped closer to the older man. The man scoffed and looked down at his wound.
“It’s fine, I just don’t heal like I used too” he forced a chuckle,
“My father has said something similar a few times” Gunner joked. What in the bloody hell was going on here. What, are they friends now? As I stood watching the two naked men converse about the disadvantages of growing old, soft growls steadily began to surround us. A large brown wolf crept through the trees, headed right for me. Its long sharp teeth were bared, and it had its head down and ready to attack as it stalked towards me. I curled my lips back and growled at the beast.
“Fuck off” I hissed at it. I will have no issue killing this mongrel, and all of its little friends. A few more wolves appeared and slowly started to shift into humans. The one that had been growling at me was a bitch, a woman. She was not too much taller than me, with long chocolate brown hair and a medium built figure. She stepped up to me and tried to grab my arm. I hissed and flung my hand out, slicing my claws through her forearm. The girl screamed and grabbed at her arm.
“Don’t touch me” I growled. Just as I finished the last word, I was jumped on by three other naked men. One of the men grabbed an arm, and another grabbed my other arm. The third man wrapped one of his arms around my waist and one around my throat. I growled and fought but was unable to move.
“Let her go!” Gunner roared. His voice was so loud that it shook the branches above our heads. I could feel the influence of his voice, it was like a heavy weight inside my head.
“Alpha” a deep firm voice called through the trees. All eyes turned to the source of the voice, as a middle aged man walked forward. He had silver tainting the sides of his deep black hair, and dark pink scars all over his exposed chest and arms. He's an Alpha, I can tell just by looking at him. I looked around at the other members of his pack, all of them were covered in scars. Some more than others, but each person held a great many marks. It would have taken years of constant fighting to gather so many scars. Either that, or they are all just terrible fighters.
“Tell your men to let her go” Gunner demanded. He stood up tall with his chest forward and head high, as he stepped toward the other Alpha.
“Not yet” he smirked and looked over at me. I struggled against the six hands holding me and growled back at the Alpha.
“She’s feisty, I like her” he laughed. Gunner growled and stepped in the face of the Alpha,
“She’s claimed” Gunner growled.
“I’m not trying to claim your Mate, Alpha” he laughed and stepped back. I snapped my eyes to Gunner, to see what he would say. But he said nothing, he didn’t correct the Alpha.
“We will be on our way then” Gunner grunted and turned to me. The moment I saw his eyes, I knew we were in trouble. Even with his Alpha strength and his special power, Gunner still had fear in his eyes. Who are these mutts to make Gunner scared?
“Now hold your horses, I can’t just let anyone go traipsing through my territory” The other Alpha said,
“We have a vehicle on the road” Gunner told him,
“Oh I know, we found your vehicle. And yet here you are, in my forest, attacking my pack members”
“I told this one that we got lost after an argument, we didn’t mean to come onto your land” Gunner growled and pointed at the older man that found me.
“Yes, I know that too” the Alpha smirked. I really want to smack that smirk right off his stupid face.
“Then what’s the problem?” Gunner grunted,
“The problem, young Alpha, is that you have both now drawn blood from my pack members. Blood must pay with blood” he answered with a glimmer of amusement in his dark eyes.
I know that look. The look of evil and excitement. He was about to do something bad, and he was going to enjoy it. I know that look because I wear it myself regularly. Gunner turned to look at me just as the Alpha raised his hand. At his signal, the man with his arm around my throat tightened his grip. Upon instinct, I gasped and choked on the air that got stuck. Gunner’s face went feral with anger as he turned back on the Alpha. Gunner threw his arm forward, he didn’t even touch the other Alpha, but still he went flying backwards through the trees. One of the other men ran for Gunner, but Gunner waved his arm up into the air, and the man went flying up with it.
I got so caught up in watching Gunner in all his magnificent glory, I forgot to fight off the three men holding me. I tilted my head back, and sucked in a slow, long, deep breath. The coughing was first, then they dropped their grips on me, then the choking sounds of suffocation. I glared down at the three men, watching their faces turn blue as I sucked the air from their lungs.
“Whiskey” Gunner called. I turned to look at him and he shook his head before looking down at the three gasping men on the ground. He wants me to spare them, is he fucking crazy.
“Don’t” he mouthed and held his hands out, doing the slow down movement. He was indicating for me to stop. I scrunched up my face with annoyance and let the breath go. The three men gasped deeply and clumsily scampered away from my feet. Gunner was at my side in an instant. His arm was around my shoulders, holding me to him protectively. All of the other men and women that surrounded us had started closing in. This was going to be a fight. Good. I could use a decent scrap, maybe let off some steam.
“Well now!” the Alpha called as he sauntered back over to us,
“You are as impressive as I've heard you were” he chuckled and waved his hand. All of his men backed down and walked slowly back, giving us more space.
“What does that mean?” I whispered to Gunner,
“Shh” he hissed back,
“The Alpha Gunner. The Alpha of Alphas, they call you”.
Alpha of Alphas, I've never heard that term before. I looked up to Gunner’s chin, he was glaring at the other Alpha with his fingers digging into my arm.
“I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure” Gunner said through his clenched teeth. The Alpha laughed and shook his head.
“No mighty Alpha, royalty like you would never foul yourselves with the lowly likes of us. Not until you need something done that you won't dirty your own polished hands with” he sneered angrily. Gunner’s body tensed and I couldn’t help but press myself against the firmness of his muscles.
“I know who you are” Gunner said in a firm and commanding voice. The other Alpha didn’t respond, just snickered.
“You’re Alpha Doyle. Alpha to the Meļņasirds, the mercenary pack” Gunner said in a low voice. He was speaking with authority and firmness, though I could hear the underlying caution in his words. He was afraid. Whoever this Doyle and his pack of mercenaries are, they have Gunner worried.
