Mother of the Moon - Chapter 130 - Esteemed Visitors
Zelena.
“I see you met some of our esteemed visitors” Roe smiled as she looked at the women behind me. I hadn't realised that Alyse and Beta Elaine were still standing there,
“Have I told you much about Luna Eclipse yet darling?” Roe asked as she turned her gaze back to me. I shook my head meekly. Before today I hadn't heard the term Luna Eclipse mentioned once. Their pack is a total mystery to me. Seeing Roe this excited has me curious though, there must be something important about them.
“Thank you again ladies. We are so truly honoured to have you here at Tri-Moon. Will you please join us for dinner tonight?” Roe asked stepping in around me to stand before Elaine.
“That is not necessary. Like I said, it is our honour and our duty to protect the Goddess” Elaine replied. Does her voice always hold such hardness? I get it, she's a Beta and she has to keep that tough guy persona. But seriously woman, lighten up. I smiled to myself as I thought about the stone-faced Elaine cracking a joke, what a sight that would be. I noticed once again, that Alyse was staring at me. She is by no means scary, but she is starting to creep me out.
“Well, that being said, I insist” Roe spoke in her usual chirpy way. Roe almost always gets what she wants. I don't think even the tough Elaine can get out of this one.
“Please come, I would like to get to know you better, and I would like to hear about your pack. It is the least I can do to say thank you, after you spent two days watching over me” I said looking up to Elaine. She watched me carefully as I spoke, and I knew then that I had her. She didn't reply, she just nodded her head.
“Are there more of you?” I asked,
“Yes, there are four others” Elaine confirmed in her usual hard tone.
“Excellent, please bring them too” I said, as I turned to look at Roe. She was smiling as she watched the conversation, with her hands on her hips and a proud look on her face.
“If that is okay with you, Roe?” I asked her,
“That sounds absolutely perfect” she mused and clapped her hands together,
“I had better go start cooking. I will see you ladies in the dining hall at six o'clock” she said with a curt nod before turning on her heels and marching off into the pack house.
“We will see you all tonight?” I asked once more, just to make sure.
“Yes, my Goddess. We will be here” Elaine confirmed.
“Perfect, now if you don’t mind my Mate needs some rest” Gunner spoke as he snaked his hand around my waist and pulled me into his side.
“Of course, Alpha” Elaine said with a bow, she turned and ushered Alyse along with her.
“Gunner, I have slept for two days, I don’t need to rest” I argued.
“You do need to rest, you expelled a lot of energy at the ceremony and then when straight into one of the worse heats I have ever heard of. You need to rest if you want to be functioning properly at this dinner you have arranged”.
“I didn’t arrange it, I just made sure that the Luna Eclipse diplomats would join us” I said somewhat confused. He was there, he saw his mother ask them for dinner,
“You basically arranged it, just like a Luna would. You’re a natural to the role” he mused and kissed my temple.
“Really” I asked, my excitement rising. I suppose I have kind of taken to this Luna thing pretty well. Especially considering I was in a coma for the first three months of it.
“Yes really” he chuckled and pulled me into his chest.
“You really don’t know anything about Luna Eclipse?” he asked, peering down at me.
“How could I? All of my werewolf knowledge has come from you and your parents. If you haven’t told me, then I wouldn’t know. Why? What's the big deal with this pack? Are they dangerous or something?”
“Yes and no. Until the night of the party, the entire world thought that they were a myth”
“What do you mean? Why would you think that?”
“Well because they kind of were. No one really knew for sure where they were or if they were still alive. The only information we have is the stories and the tales, and you can’t really rely on a fairy tale”
“A fairy tale? What are they witches or magical she-wolves or something?”
“No love, they are an all-female pack. No men allowed. But not just that, they are rumoured to have the best, fiercest, most deadly fighters in the entire world”.
An all-female pack, what a thought. The Were world can be pretty sexist. I haven’t lived in it for that long, but I can already tell that they have that aspect in common with the humans. But an all-female pack. Everyone equal. How amazing. And an Alpha she-wolf, a woman in such a position of power. I kind of want to meet her. If she is anything like her Beta, I can only imagine how fierce she must be. But all-female would mean no babies, right? No family legacies. Who does the Alpha position pass to if not an heir?
“All-female, how would that work? If they don’t have males they can’t procreate, how do they maintain their numbers and choose positions?” I asked with a tilt of my head,
“They recruit” Gunner answered in a very blasé kind of way.
“Recruit how?” I demanded,
“I don’t know Zelena, that’s why I am just as excited about this dinner. I have been wanting to talk with them since they got here” chuckled Gunner as he nuzzled into my hair.
“Oh, so if even you don’t know then I guess this is kind of a big deal huh?”
“This is a huge deal. They have come out of hiding for you, for the Triple Goddess”
“They have?” I gulped. That is a lot of pressure. A mythical all-female pack to reveal themselves to the entire Were world, just so that they could meet me. Holy shit. This is a huge deal.
“I assume so, yes, though I am concerned” he said a little softer now, not wanting anyone else to hear us.
“About what?” I whispered,
“About whether or not they are really just offering their greetings or are they trying to recruit you”
“Do you really think so?”
“I don’t know little wolf, I’m not leaving anything out. I don’t know what they are possible of yet. But I can tell you one thing, if it comes to a fight over you, I will die before I let you go” Gunner said gruffly as he squeezed his arms tighter around me.
“I will never leave you or Tri-Moon, not willingly" I said adamantly.
“I know that, but I don’t know anything about them. They may not take no for an answer”
“And if that happens?”
“Never mind about that now, let’s just see how dinner goes” he smiled, kissed my head and then dragged me upstairs to bed.
