Mother of the Moon - Chapter 176 - The Luna and The Alpha-son

Lunaya.

Smith was quiet, probably letting my thoughts digest through his mind as he watched the dirty pair. After a minute he huffed, turned around and began to go back up the stairs.
“I’m sending someone down for them. We’re taking them back to Tri-Moon" he grumbled over his shoulder,
“Isn’t that for your Alpha to decide?” I shouted back to him. Speaking of, where the fuck is he? And where is Zelena?
“The Alpha isn’t here” Smith yelled as he stomped away. I looked back over to the woman and chuckled.
“Looks like you’re getting a new home, little lady” I chided and shut the door again. I went back up the stairs and as I got to the living area, Felix, Faylene and four others marched past me.
“You’ll need this” I called and tossed the key to Faylene. She caught it, nodded and continued on their way. I got back outside as a bit of a commotion began to break out. I heard some sobbing and a few pained screams. Oh no, what happened now? I pushed through the gathered crowd but was grabbed by Elaine. Where did she come from? I frowned at her and tried to pull myself from her grip.
“Don't’ Lunaya” she growled at me.
“Don’t what?” I snapped back. The way she looked at me sent a shiver down my spine. Something is very, very wrong here.
“What is it?” I asked her urgently. My mind immediately went to Zelena. Was she hurt? Was she worse than hurt? I can’t lose her, I have only just found her again. Elain didn’t answer me, she just looked at me with a deeply strained and concerned expression. Oh Goddess, not Zelena. I yanked my arm from her grip and shoved my way through the crowd of shocked onlookers. I got through the wall of people, and found Gunner and Tobias each holding a body. I saw the long black hair hanging from Tobias’s arm and ran to him. Zelena’s unmoving body was cradled gently in his arms, with her head hanging back. My fear exploded and tears flooded my eyes. She was covered in blood, her blood. And under all that blood, she was so pale. She looked dead.
“My baby” I sobbed and touched her cheek. She was cold, but there was still some warmth under her skin.
“She’ll be okay” Tobias said sullenly. I brushed the back of my fingers over her cheek and nodded my head. I then turned to Gunner and watched as he slowly lowered the body he was holding to the ground. I walked up behind him at the same time as Lupus and Smith approached from the front. Lupus ran his hand through his hair roughly and Smith dropped to his knees, all colour drained from his face. Lupus threw his head back and roared into the air. The sound shook the trees and made everyone close by step back. He fell to the ground as his large grey wolf and howled. I stepped closer and looked down at the body that Gunner was leaning over. Gunner had his arms wrapped around the top of the body, lifting the head to his chest. Gunner’s silent sobs broke me. I looked over the body and fell to my knees at his side. I picked up Cole’s hand and held it to my cheek. He was like ice. I hadn’t known him long, but there was something between us. He trusted me, and I cared deeply for him. He was motherless, and I had every intention of filling that role for him.
As Lupus howled into the sky, the rest of Tri-Moon that had gathered around, changed into their wolves and cried into the air with their former Alpha. Felix came barging through the crowd and stopped just shy of Cole’s dead body. Behind him came Faylene carrying the screaming child, and three others struggling with the erratic she-wolf.
“Take her away” I snarled up at them. Faylene nodded and went to leave again,
“Wait” Gunner's voice growled. He lifted his head and looked up at the she-wolf fighting to get free. His eyes were dark, and his expression was one of anger and hatred. Right here, he looks evil, dangerous even. Gunner slowly stood up and walked to stand in front of the she-wolf.
“Who is she?” he demanded.
“We don’t know for sure, she isn’t talking. But we think she is the Origin Luna” Felix answered as he came to stand at his Alpha’s side. Gunner growled. A deep and ferocious growl that made my hair stand on end. He stepped forward and wrapped his hand around her neck. The she-wolf fought against his hold. She barked and growled and snapped her teeth. With a flick of his wrist, Gunner snapped her neck, and her fight was gone. The fighters dropped her body and stared blankly up at Gunner. Apparently, I was not the only one surprised by his callousness. He then turned to Faylene and the child in her arms. Faylene looked terrified. She can’t refuse her Alpha, but I don’t think she wants the blood of a child on her hands.
“And him?” Gunner snarled,
“He uh... he’s... he was her son” Felix answered. It is the first time I had ever seen the strong warrior show any kind of weakness or uncertainty. Gunner stepped forward and reached for the child, but Faylene stepped back, a look of horror on her face.
“Gunner” I snapped and jumped to my feet,
“He’s just a baby” I growled at him. Gunner grabbed the child from Faylene’s arms with a loud growl.
“I don’t care what he is, only who he is. Galterio does not get an heir, his line doesn’t deserve to survive. This ends here and now” Gunner snarled hatefully. The amount of venom and darkness in his voice was shudder inducing. What happened to him. Gunner tucked the boy under his arm and grabbed hold of his head. The little boy wailed and thrashed his arms about. Gunner jerked his arm and hand in opposite directions and the sound of the pup’s neck snapping rolled over the crowd. Faylene screamed but quickly covered her mouth with both her hands. Shocked gasps bounced around the pack and harsh whispers began to fly. He killed a child. A pup. He didn’t even hesitate. This goes far beyond uncontrollable aggression, regardless of who sired the pup, he was still an innocent. How is Gunner meant to come back from this?
