Mother of the Moon - Chapter 184 - Returning Home

Lunaya.

The trip back to Tri-Moon was dismal. All of Lua Chei, apart from Analah, Ares and four others, went back to their pack lands. Alpha Travis bid farewell and left for Waning Wolf with his warriors. Tobias insisted that his brother, Alpha Marius, went back home. They argued over it for a while, but Tobias won, and his brother went back to their pack. Alpha Lace however, he refused to go home. He sent his men and Beta back, keeping only three Weres with him. He was very insistent on coming back to Tri-Moon, and I am very curious as to why.
Tobias and Gunner were very tight-lipped about what ever happened out there. All they said was that the Origin Alpha murdered Cole, and then they killed him in return. As for Zelena and her unconscious state, they said that she depleted her energy fighting off the Alpha. I could tell they were lying. Zelena is a Triple Goddess. It would have weakened her, but not to this extent. Something else happened. And I'll be dammed if they are going to keep it from me.
The vehicles pulled into the long winding driveway that leads to the Tri-Moon pack village. The bus came to a harsh stop, and the beat up and blood soaked Weres slowly filed out. Romeá came running over with her daughter, and multiple other she-wolves in toe. Roe stopped and searched the crowd, her eyes found Lupus and her body relaxed. She ran to him and jumped into his arms, causing them both to fall to the ground. I looked out to the approaching she-wolves and searched for those brilliant green eyes. A body slammed into me, and I was enveloped into a firm hug. The scent hit me first. Cherries and dark chocolate. Alyse. I wrapped my arms around her and buried my face into the crook of her neck.
“I’m so sorry” she sobbed,
“I was so scared and so stupid. I do support you, I will always support you. I shouldn't have got so upset over it. I'm so sorry” she cried into my chest. Oh my sweet Alyse.
“Hush now my love, you don’t need to apologise, but I do. I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I know that you were just looking out for me. I was scared is all, and I took it out on you. That was wrong of me. I am sorry” I cooed as I stroked her back in a soothing circle. She pushed herself out of my arms and looked around at the much smaller crowd of Weres.
“Did you find her? Where is she?” Alyse asked urgently. I should have never doubted her love. I knew she cared for Zelena, even though they never met, I knew she loved her.
“We found her. Origin Wolf were defeated and Zelena is home” I told her. The sound of a high-pitched wail snapped our attention. Both Alyse and I turned our gaze to the source of the scream. Roe was kneeling on the ground, her hands gripping Cole’s pale face. She was distraught, crying and gently rubbing his cheeks.
“Oh Goddess” Alyse gasped,
“Gunner?” she asked turning back to me. I shook my head and wiped a tear from the corner of my eye.
“Cole” I said softly. A strangled croak left Alyse’s lips before she slapped both hands over her mouth. She turned back around and slowly walked over to where Roe was cradling Cole’s head in her arms. The Alpha-daughter, Nat, was kneeling at her mother's side, sobbing as she brushed her fingers through Cole’s hair. Lupus stood behind Roe, gripping her shoulders tightly. Alpha Lace appeared at Nat’s side and gently picked her up off the ground. He turned her away from Cole and wiped the tears from her cheeks. There was too much noise around us, and I was still too far away to hear properly, but it looked like the rough and tough tattooed Were was comforting her. Smith popped up and quickly pulled Nat from Alpha Lace’s arms, with his teeth bared he snarled at the Alpha. Nat wrapped her arms around Smith, and he carried her away. Tobias walked past me, with Zelena in his arms. He dodged the prying eyes of her pack and walked straight for the house. I looked over to Alyse, she had her arms around Roe’s shoulders and was trying to get her to let him go.
***Tobias is taking Zelena inside, I'm following them.*** I flashed Alyse as I ran after Tobias.
***It’s okay, I'll be there soon***
She flashed me back. As I came around the side of the house, I saw that they had prepared beds and medical stations in the clearing. It was like a full blown first aid outpost. Shade sails to keep away the afternoon sun, carts full of gauze and saline, and even a male doctor wearing a long white coat was running between the injured Weres. Many of the she-wolves were tending to the less serious wounds. Luckily, most of these Weres will be completely healed in the next day or two. I ran into the house and lifted my nose. I followed the scent up the stairs and into a large bathroom. Tobias stood under the showerhead, still clothed, with Zelena in his arms. The water falling off them both was a mix of brown and red. With both of Tobias’s arms carefully cradling Zelena, he wasn’t able to wash the blood from her face. I walked into the large shower and went to brush away the wet hair that was stuck to Zelena’s neck. Tobias growled and turned his body so that she was out of my reach.
“Please Tobias, let me help wash her. I won't hurt her, I promise” I begged him. His growl rumbled through the bathroom. It made my knees want to buckle. Something was very different about the guardian. His energy and aura had completely changed. Before the battle he was calm and cheerful, fiercely protective over Zelena, but not aggressive. Now though, he didn’t even have to say anything for me to feel the change. He felt powerful before, but this was unlike anything else I have felt. His air of power was stronger, more than even that of a strong Alpha. I felt like I needed to bow to him, or lower my head, I never got that from him before. What the heck happened in the forest?
“Tobias, I just want to help” I said softly as I took a very small step closer. He growled again and this time I was hit with a wave of energy, similar to that I have felt when Zelena has used her power. But Tobias is just a guardian, he doesn’t have power. Does he?
