Mother of the Moon - Chapter 168 - An Escape

Zelena.

I stared at Galterio as he stared back at me. He was waiting to see my reaction after saying outright that he is going to kill my pup. He doesn’t know that I heard him say it earlier. But I still wasn’t expecting such an upfront admission. I kept my gaze firmly placed on his. But in the corners of my vision, I was searching for a way out. I kept coming back to the large floor to ceiling glass doors that led to the back yard. I couldn’t see beyond the doors, it was too dark. I have no idea what could be waiting for me out there if that’s the path I choose. But at this point, it is either through the glass doors to the backyard, or try my luck back through the house. At least now I have eaten and have my strength back. I can summon my power to fly the fuck out of here.
“Did you hear me Beauty?” Galterio said smoothly, drawing my attention back onto his watchful face,
“That uninvited guest has worn out its welcome. Your womb is for me, for my offspring. You don’t want to upset your Mate, now do you love?” his calm and smooth tone was bating me. He didn’t let Artemis test our supposed bond, but he has found a way to do it himself. Threaten my child. See if I will choose him and his happiness, over the life of my pup. He made a smart play. But for me, after hearing his plan spoken out loud and to my face, the game is over. I'm not hanging around to give him the chance to follow through on his word.
I let the power flow through my veins and tingle at the tips of my fingers. I smirked at Galterio with a wicked glint in my eye. I waved my hand over the table in a quick swiping motion. The glass table and the chairs all flew at high speed towards Galterio. I may not be able to hold him, but I can still use my power on everything else around him. The weight of the table forced Galterio to fall backwards from his chair. I didn’t hang around to see the rest of it crush him. I jumped to my feet and bolted for the glass doors. Using my power, I picked up a coffee table and thrust it through the glass. The panes of glass shattered and rained down over the ground. As I was running to the door, I lessened the gravity around my body and flew myself over the pieces of glass. A smile broke across my face as I felt the freedom in reach. The sun was starting to make its appearance off in the distance. And I was home free.
I screamed into the air as something latched onto my ankle. I looked down and saw Galterio’s half changed face glaring back at me. His mouth had started elongating into a snout and his cheeks were sprouting dark grey fur. I had never seen a Were hold onto a partial shift. It was horrifying. The pain in my ankle intensified and I saw his claws were dug deep into the skin, with blood pouring out of the slash marks. We were hovering in the air, ten meters above the ground. I tried to kick at Galterio’s hand to dislodge his grip. It didn’t work. He only dug his claws in deeper and I swear he was about to rip my foot off. On instinct, I threw my head back and screamed, only that scream melded into a long pain filled howl.
I wrapped my power around Galterio’s throat and tightened. I held it so tight that if it was anyone else, their head would have popped right off. But the effect it had on him was weak enough that he could ignore it. Galterio’s pack and the other Weres on his property started to appear on the ground beneath us. All of them wanting to check out the commotion and all of them watching us with wide and surprised eyes. I continued to kick at Galterio as I tried to shake myself free.
“YOU ARE MINE!” he roared. His deep animalistic voice shook me to the core. He sounds like a demon. Galterio swiped his other arm up and dug his claws into the flesh of my thigh. I screamed in agony as we began to fall back to the ground. Somehow, Galterio managed to land on his feet first, and then rolled onto his back as I came down on top of him. He quickly rolled us over so that I was under him. His elongated snout and long sharp canines were mere millimetres from my face. A blob of drool dripped from his long fang and landed on my cheek as he growled at me.
“You are mine” he snarled dangerously. He wrapped his fingers around my throat and squeezed. I coughed and hit at his hand, trying to get him to loosen his grip. I can’t breathe. He has completely constricted my windpipe. I spluttered and kicked my legs wildly. Galterio lifted his head back with his jaw open, he was going for my throat. But just as he was about to bring it back down, an echoed howl filled the dawn air. He snapped his head in the direction of the howl, and then came another and another, until we were surrounded by howls. A battle cry. One call stood out above the rest. One howl called to every part of me, pulling forward the will I need to fight, pulling forward the will I need to live. Gunner. Gunner is here.
I turned my hands around and used all the force I could to push Galterio away from me. He went flying through the air across the yard. I sat up and watched as he completed his change mid air, before he landed back on four awfully large grey paws. He is big, really big. His wolf is the same size as Tobias’s. And Tobias is by far the biggest Were I had ever seen. He jerked his head to one side and then the other, but before I could register what he was doing, I was grabbed. Two hard hands on one arm and another two on the other. Big mistake. I sent one of the Weres flying off into a tree and the other high up into the air, only to crash back down again with a sickening thud. Galterio barked and growled over at me. I replied with a smirk, and I wrapped my power around the neck of another of his pack-mates, one that was trying to sneak up on me. I flexed my hand to the side and his neck snapped. The Weres body dropped to the ground and Galterio’s eyes followed. Apparently, he knew that Were, perhaps closely. He snarled back up at me and growled. He’s mad. Good. He should be mad, because now I’m going to kill the bastard.
