Twin Moon - Chapter 226 - Fifteen Months Ago

Whiskey.

The numb emptiness didn’t leave me, it faded somewhat, but I could still feel it. If I wasn’t so used to blocking myself off to pain and emotion, I would guess that it would frustrate me. But I actually kind of enjoyed it. The uncaring and unfeeling state of mine was freeing. I lost any guilt I had for what I had done over the past few years, however small that piece of guilt may have been. Though that slight sliver of doubt still lingered in the back of my mind. Always on repeat, eating inside my thoughts, ‘did I do the wrong thing?’ With this new hollow feeling, I could no longer see or feel that small slice of doubt. It was fantastic. All that aside, the fact that I still don’t know what has brought on or caused this new state of mind, it bugs me. I am determined to find out. And I will, I always do.
I'd made my way to the South of Alaska, to the mountains near the Canadian border. I know that packs like to reside in either thick forests, large open plains, or snowy mountains. I'm not sure why I was drawn to this mountain exactly, but I felt like I needed to go there. And if I've learnt anything in my cataclysmic life, it’s to trust my instincts.

**Fifteen months ago.**
I laid in Saxton’s arms with my head on his shoulder, tracing my fingers through the soft curls of hair on his chest. His gentle snores filled the small room. I lifted my leg and splayed it up and over his, rubbing myself against him. I can’t believe we’re still here. I thought we would have left after the fight with his father. But it seems my winning did exactly what Saxton expected it would do. All of the pack members show me the utmost respect, and in turn, Saxton too. He is thriving on it, soaking in their love and attention. Me, I hate the extra attention. But if he is happy, then so am I. His parents have kept their distance. And lucky too. I have in no way forgotten or forgiven Pia’s disrespect. I am still chomping at the bit to give her a good run around.
Saxton has been spending a lot of time with his Alpha. He seems very excited about it. He excitedly tells me every night about how the Alpha thinks he would be a great asset to their warrior ranks, that his experience with taking down hunter compounds makes him a real contender to be a commander. I love the way his face lights up when he talks about his future as a commander. Even if I still feel like there is more work to do, more hunters to track down, more compounds to demolish, I could never take away that spark from him. Life in this pack with Saxton wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I love that he is happy.
Sparks tickled along my exposed flesh as I pressed myself against Saxton’s side. I lifted my head and smattered kisses over his chest and up to his neck. His arm tightened around my shoulder as a seductive growl vibrated in his throat. He grabbed my leg with his other hand and pulled it so that I was now straddling his waist. I leaned down and sucked and nibbled at his neck. His hands gripped my hips tightly as I gently rocked back and forth along his hardened length. He grabbed my hair and roughly ripped my head away from his neck, he smashed his lips to mine, forcing his tongue into my mouth. I moaned into his mouth and lifted my hips, I reached down and angled his tip to my entrance, then slowly slid down along his member. Saxton hissed and bucked his hips into me, making me bounce on top of him. I continued the movement, lifting myself along his rod, before slamming back down onto him hard. The slapping of our flesh and the grunts and groans played like an erotic symphony. I pushed his face away from mine, making his back hit the bed. I wrapped my fingers around his throat and increased my speed. Saxton’s claws extended and he buried them into the skin at my hips. The added pain was incredible. He growled loudly and flipped me off his lap. Grabbing my hips again, he rammed into me from behind, moving with deep and hard thrusts, sending me jolting forward with each push. Saxton grunted with every upshot. The brutal penetration forced a scream from my lips every time.
He grabbed my throat, squeezing it tightly and lifted my face off the mattress until my back was against his chest. He anchored me to him with one hand around my waist and the other at my neck, interrupting the blood flow to my head. As he slammed into me relentlessly, my head became dizzy, and my orgasm loomed closer. Saxton’s claws ran across my stomach, slicing the skin open. I screamed out and wrapped my arm around the back of his neck. The pressure was building, and the pain was bringing it along quickly. Saxton released his grip and forced my face back into the bed with a demanding growl. He pulled out of me and then pushed himself into my ass, in one swift and unforgiving thrust. The moment that he sleuthed himself all the way in, I came. I came hard and I wasn’t quiet about it. I rolled my hips with each wave of my orgasm, pressing my hips back onto his dick. My moans slowly subsided, and I started to come down from my high, only for Saxton to start thrusting again. My tight hole constricted around him through the last of my orgasm. He pushed at my lower back, making me stick out my ass higher with the deep arch of my back. He grunted and growled as he ploughed into me mercilessly. A minute later and he found his own release, emptying himself into my ass.
We both collapsed onto the mattress, breathing heavily. As I caught my breath again, I started to feel sleepy. I closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of Saxton’s harsh breaths. He sat up next to me and ran his fingers over my back, tracing over the multiple scars and markings left behind from my years of education. He moved his fingers higher to the back of my neck, tickling the spot gently and affectionately. He sucked his teeth and stood up abruptly. I rolled onto my side and looked at him as he pulled on a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt.
“Going somewhere?” I asked him with a smirk.
“Going to see the Alpha” he answered. Again? He was only just there last night, just how much is there to talk about?
“He can wait, I want another go” I teased seductively and reached for his hand. He pulled away and frowned.
“Later. I'm trying to organise our future” he said with a grunt.
“Shouldn’t I be a part of that conversation?” I asked. Anger bubbled in my veins at his rejection. I just about had enough of coming second to that damned beast.
“No Tesoro, you can go and clean up and I’ll meet you for lunch” he answered blankly. I sat up and growled lowly at his brush off. Saxton whipped his head to me and smiled softly. He knelt on the bed and pulled my face to his, kissing my lips gently.
“I love you, Tesoro. Go have a shower, I'll meet you again in an hour” he said and quickly stood and left the room before I had time to argue. I sneered and moved to the edge of the bed, throwing my legs over the side. I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. Pale pink marks were all that was left of his scratches on my stomach, though there were lines of dried blood running down my stomach and the front of my legs. I looked back at the bed and the white sheet was covered in blood. It looked like someone had been murdered. More little marks littered my hips where his claws had been, with more patches of dried blood. Why didn’t Saxton have this much blood on him? Surely I left a mark or two on him as well.
I washed off in the shower and then put on some clean clothes. It was still half an hour before I was supposed to meet Saxton for lunch, but I figured I’d go and meet him at the Alpha’s office early. I headed down the stairs. Saxton and I were on the second to the top floor, there were four levels, including the underground basement. It was a rather large village, sophisticated in an old timey, rustic kind of way. It had narrow stone walkways, with large stone buildings, none of which were placed in any kind of pattern. It was like someone just threw a bunch of rocks at the ground and said ‘build your house where it lands’. A large stone wall surrounded the entire village, and on the other side of that were sprawling green fields, littered with rows of grapevines. Saxton’s pack, the Red River pack, owned a large vineyard and produced a shit ton of wine. That's how they made their money.
The Alpha’s office was pretty much on the other side of the village. It isn’t a walk I want to do, especially not at this time of the day when everyone will be out and about. I sucked it up and got to walking anyway. Each pack member I passed smiled and waved, some wanted to stop and talk to me, some wanted to invite me for food. These people never stop eating. I'm not used to the friendliness and the constant need for conversation. I'm a loner, I like being on my own. It took a lot for me to allow Saxton into my little bubble. I don’t know how I am meant to open up to this whole pack-life thing. It's just not for me.
It was another fifteen minutes until I finally got to the Alpha’s residence. Unlike everyone else, he didn’t need to share his building. It was just him and his wife, and their youngest child. I was always taught to be wary of the Alpha. Not only are they meant to be the strongest among the pack, but they can be sneaky and vicious. Alphas are so greedy. Always taking the best for themselves and leaving the scraps for the rest of their pack. They draw on the energy and strength of their pack members to make themselves stronger. They expect their members to do all the hard work while they sit back and watch, soaking up all the benefits for themselves. The one thing I have never understood is why. Why let one man rule over them? They can survive on their own, right? Why not live as solitary creatures. The whole pack mentality doesn’t make sense to me.
I knocked on the front door and the Luna answered a second later.
“Ah the mysterious Whiskey. Come in dear” she said with a smile. She opened the door and stepped aside to let me in. She had paint on her clothes and her young one was hanging off her leg, also covered in paint.
“Don’t mind us, we were just doing a little arts and crafts” she chuckled and wiped her hands on her shirt.
“I’m looking for Saxton” I told her, trying to cut off the opening for small talk.
“Oh, sure, he is in the office with Antonio. Up the stairs, first door on the left” she said politely. I nodded my head in thanks and headed up the stairs, leaving the Luna and her child in the foyer. As I approached the closed door, I heard Saxton speaking excitedly.
