Mother of the Moon - Chapter 179 - Retribution
Zelena.
***You’re pregnant?*** Gunner flashed.
***I’m sorry I didn’t know***
“Ahh... the True Mate doesn’t know, does he?” Galterio’s rumbling voice teased. I tried to shift my body so that I could reach up and grab his face. I managed to lift my hand and was just about to make contact with the side of his face, when Galterio growled.
“No Zelena!” Gunner yelled.
The pain in my stomach intensified. I scrunched my eyes closed, lifted my chin, and I screamed. Galterio had pushed his fingers deeper into my stomach, ripping their way through the muscle. Just a little further and he will be able to tear my pup right out of me. Gunner growled and stepped closer again.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. No, no. Stop right there, or your little pup will join you earlier than planned” Galterio sneered. He pushed his face against mine, nuzzling his nose into my cheek. I felt his cool wet tongue slide along my jaw to my ear. Gunner growled, a loud and rumbling growl that echoed through the trees. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He was looking at the hand on my stomach, and thankfully not the slippery tongue on my face. The dark smoke was swirling around his body, wrapping around his legs and slithering up and down his arms. I could feel his anger, it was crawling over my skin, penetrating my mind. But I felt his fear too. Fear for his pup. Well, Gunner knows now. He's going to be a dad. Maybe. Galterio tensed the fingers he had buried in my stomach, and I screamed again. Tears ran down my face and I felt completely helpless. I have a way to fight him now, he is powerless against the darkness, but he still has his speed. I'm caught. I can’t risk moving or fighting, not with his claws so close to my pup.
“I can see now, Beauty. You can never be mine, not while you have a piece of him inside you” Galterio whispered into my ear. He nuzzled against my neck and inhaled my scent. Gunner’s growl rumbled across the space between us. He was now looking directly into my eyes. Seeing Galterio rub himself against me was sending him crazy.
“I’ll fix that” he growled and pushed his fingers into my stomach. This is it, no more playing and no more threats. He's going to kill my baby. I can’t let that happen. I screamed from the pain and my arms shot out to the sides. The darkness shot out of my body like a wave, fully engulfing Galterio. I focused on my stomach, letting all my power be directed there. I surrounded my womb with my forcefield of darkness. Nothing was getting near him now. I heard snapping and crunching and Galterio shouted. He lifted his hand from my stomach and held it in front of his face, which was in front of my face. His fingers were bent and broken, sitting at horribly impossible angles. They had compacted in on themselves, shattering all the bones. Blood dripped from the exposed bones and torn apart skin. Galterio pressed the claws at my neck harder into the skin, his desperate attempt to finish me off. With my pup now safe, I can fight back.
I gripped his hand and pulled it from my throat. As I felt my warm blood roll down the cool skin of my neck, I let the cold shards of my black magic enter his skin. He screamed and stepped back so that his body was no longer pressed up against mine. Keeping hold of his hand, I turned around to face him with a deadly expression plastered across my face. I pushed out with my power, forcing it to roll over him. He growled and hissed and dropped to his knees. The black smoke whirled around us both, like my own personal tornado. The thick black mist shrouded us in darkness, blocking out everything else. I could no longer see the trees and the shrub, or Cole’s lifeless body. It was just me and him. But there was one missing, someone that needs to be here for this.
***Gunner***
I flashed, calling him to me. A second later the smoke parted, and Gunner’s worried face stepped into the whirlwind of darkness. His eyes found mind and the worried looked morphed back into one of anger. He stepped to my side and gently slid his hand over my lower stomach. I winced as his fingers brushed against the gaping wounds left from Galterio’s claws. What was meant to be a tender moment, was ruined by the pain on my face. The pain cause by the monster in front of us. Gunner growled and snapped his dark eyes to Galterio. He moved slowly, shifting his stance so that he was behind me, his body pressed flush against mine. The tingles and sparks caused from his skin on mine made my pussy clench. Keeping one hand resting protectively over my stomach, Gunner stroked his other hand down my arm, to the hand that was still holding Galterio’s. He wrapped his fingers around mine and tensed them. Galterio grunted and dropped his head. The black whisps of smoke flowed freely from Gunner’s and my connected hands, it covered Galterio’s hand and slowly spread up his arm.
“You take my Mate, try to kill my pup, murder my Beta!” Gunner’s voice started out levelled with a deadly tone but escalated to a deep rumbling roar. Galterio was looking up at Gunner, the cockiness and confidence was all but gone. He could see his fate now. I could see it too. His death was written in his evil dark brown eyes.
“That was a mistake” Gunner hissed. The darkness covering Galterio’s hand began to turn and swirl faster around his deformed fingers. Gunner’s fingers tensed over mine and the black smoke whipped out. Galterio’s wrist snapped to the side with a loud crunch. He screamed through clenched teeth but didn’t move to fight back or run away. Movement at his feet caught my eye and I focused on it closer. The whirls of dark smoke had wrapped around his legs, keeping him planted in place. The darkness had a mind of its own, and it was helping us, encouraging us. Gunner and my fingers flexed, and the smoke travelled further up Galterio’s arm. The smoke tentacles spread out over his bicep, down to his elbow and up to his shoulder, and then it seemed to tighten. With a flick of Gunner’s wrist, the smoke jerked in a hard quick movement, and Galterio’s arm was ripped away from his body. His mouth opened into a scream and his head went back. Blood poured from the stump that was now his shoulder. If it was anyone else, it would have made me sick. But it was Galterio. Seeing his suffering, his pain, it made me feel alive. His sharp canines came back down on his lips, piercing them through. His own blood covered his mouth and dripped down his chin, giving him even more of a psycho killer look.
I felt Gunner’s chest shake behind me. I looked over my shoulder and was surprised to find him smiling, laughing even. Was this reaction caused by the darkness within him? Gunner never seemed to enjoy hurting people before. But this time, he was loving it. The joy on is face made me smile. Regardless of the reason it was there, his smile is breath taking.
“You will… will never be… p-pure” Galterio mumbled through his obvious pain. I leaned forward a little and smirked.
“I never cared about that anyway” I said with a wink.
“You… you’ll kill th-them. All. Of. Them” he said slowly,
“You let it… it in. You can’t… come b-back now” he groaned with a smirk playing at his lips. I tilted my head to the side as I studied him. What is he going on about? I think he’s actually lost it now. If he ever really had it to begin with.
***What’s he talking about?***
***I have no idea***
I lifted my hand and extended it towards Galterio. I promised to make this painful, I’m not one to break a promise. I let the smoke pour from my fingers and brought forth the shape of a blade. I like the feeling of it in my hand, I like the roughness of the cool ice. I looked over the sharp black weapon and then lifted my eyes to Galterio. Without giving myself a second to think about it, I thrust my hand forward. The tip of the hard ice pierced the skin of Galterio’s chest. As I pushed it deeper into his body, his head flew back and he howled. I twisted the blade into his flesh and pushed it deeper. Galterio’s howl turned from one of pain to something different, something final. His head came down and he peered at me through glassy eyes. This was the second time today that I looked into a pair of eyes as the life left them.
“Beauty” Galterio said softly. His eyes rolled back into his head, and his body slumped to the side. The swirl of darkness melted away and Gunner and I stood looking down on Galterio’s body. I listened carefully as his heart thumped its last beat. He exhaled his final breath, and as the air left him, with it went my anger. It’s over. He’s gone. And I killed him. I turned around and threw myself into Gunner’s arms, pressing my face into his chest. My rage had burnt out, but the darkness still lingers inside me, I can feel its icy sting flowing through my veins. I don’t think there is any chance of keeping it out now. I let it in, and now I fear it’s here to stay.
