Mother of the Moon - Chapter 137 - Finding Her

Lunaya.

“Beta Elaine” a strong and velvety male voice called from behind us. We turned around to see the gigantic bald Were towering over us, staring hungrily at Elaine.
“I wish to introduce myself” he said smoothly,
“Very well” Elaine grumbled back.
“My name is Tobias, former Alpha of Blue Moon pack, now lead advisor of the Tri-Moon pack. It is an honor to meet you” he said smirking at Elaine. He bowed low but kept his eyes on hers.
“Former Alpha?’ Elaine questioned, curiously. Or as curiously as Elaine gets.
“Yes ma’am. I passed the role to my brother and joined Tri-Moon after the battle with the hunter clan” he told her. The amount of sexual tension and desire he was emitting was sickening, probably more so to a lesbian like myself. But that’s fine, because apparently, I have become invisible.
“You handed over the position? Why?” Elaine snapped. I have never seen her show so much interest in anyone that wasn’t from her pack. Interesting.
“Yes ma’am. I needed to be closer to the Goddess” he answered, not at all put off by her harsh tone.
“Why do you need to do that?” I asked him. He looked at me, as if only now seeing me for the first time. He smiled at me with a puzzled and questioning look.
“I am her guardian, of course” he said it like it was obvious, like it was common knowledge. I know the tale of the first daughter Selena having a guardian, appointed to her by the Moon Goddess. Only the story goes that they fell in love and became Mates. There have been no other recorded Guardians through the times. Elaine looked to me for confirmation, and I just shrugged. How should I know if it’s true? Though if it is, then this daughter must be the most powerful of them all. Why else would the All Mother grant her a guardian?
“Her guardian?” I questioned him again,
“Yes Miss, selected by the Moon Goddess herself” he said proudly.
“Impossible” I whispered to myself,
“Sorry?” Tobias asked,
“Nothing, excuse me” I blurted out before rushing down the steps and off to our tent. Elaine’s footsteps thundered behind me. I flopped down on the cot and flung my arm over my eyes.
“What is it?” Elaine asked firmly,
“Is it the guardian?”
“If it’s true, if he was really selected to be her guardian, this whole arrival could be a bigger deal than we know” I told her.
“What do you mean?” Elaine demanded,
“The last chosen daughter to be appointed a guardian was Selena. She has been the most powerful of all the past Triple Goddess’s. If this girl needs a guardian, then she is either just as powerful as Selena, if not more so, or the Moon Goddess is anticipating trouble”.

It was another day and a half until Alyse flashed to tell me that the Goddess was awake again and coming back to the village. We had maintained our rotation of guards at the hut the whole time. There was no trouble and no further signs or Ferals. Perhaps that one was just a random one off. A lot of the diplomats chose to return to their homes. Except for Alpha Ambrose and his men from Lua Chei, the Alpha Lace and his men from Howlers, and Alpha Travis from Waning Wolf.
The novelty of members of the mythical Luna Eclipse being around didn’t die off. The she-wolves were enthralled and constantly close by, trying to work up the courage to approach. Cleo quickly became known as a no-go-zone. With her almost constant wolf form and the growling and snarling at anyone who tried to talk to her, they all soon learned to keep clear. The guardian Tobias is an interesting creature. He is fiercely protective of the Goddess, this became evident after he nearly bit the head of a Howler for simply talking about what her scent made him want to do to her. But it has also become apparent that he holds no romantic connection to her. His eyes and desire followed Elaine, wherever she went. Elaine maintained a ‘I’m not interested’ stance, though I caught her eyeing him on more than one occasion.
The idea that she is ready to come back had my head spinning. I sat on the edge of my cot with my head in my hands. I wanted to rush out and meet her halfway, but I couldn’t do that. I need to let her come to me. Gunner’s sister is already too curious about me and hasn’t let go of the fact that she thinks we have met before. Romeá is also starting to show more interest in me, encouraged by my initial run-in with Cole and his cryptic comment. My secret won’t stay hidden for long. I just need a minute with her before it comes out. I need to know for sure that she is who I think she is, my lost child.
Alyse burst into the tent, breathing heavily with a wide smile on her face.
“What is it?” I asked her cautiously optimistic,
“We’ve been invited to dinner tonight, to meet the Triple Goddess” she said excitedly. I swallowed the ball of vomit that rose in my throat and tried to brush off my nerves. Alyse came to sit beside me and wrapped her arm over my shoulder,
“This is a good thing, you will finally get to meet her after all these years” she said soothingly.
“What if the Seer was wrong, what if she isn’t my child?”
“When have you ever known a Seer to be wrong?” she chuckled,
“I don’t know, I’m sure it’s not completely impossible”
“Nae, what are you so nervous about? You’ve waited all this time and now that it is finally coming to a head, you’re acting like a cornered rabbit. Buck up. And get ready to meet your baby” Alyse said giving my shoulder a squeeze. Her encouragement was really all I needed. I don’t know why I worked myself into such a stupor. I am excited. Really, I am. There is just so much to fear, so much that can go wrong.
We all showered and dressed nicely for dinner, even Cleo got into the spirit of it. We headed to the house together and was led to a set of large double doors. I hung to the back to let the others go in first. Once the door opened a sweet voice called out Elaine’s name. I listened to her greet each she-wolf and they offered their loyalties. Alyse gave my hand a quick squeeze before she stepped through the door.
“My Goddess” her angelic voice sung,
“Nice to see you again Alyse, please have a seat” the child replied. I stepped through the door and my eyes fell upon the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her dark ebony hair hung down from her ponytail and her pale silky skin shone under the light. She turned to me with a smile on her face and all I could see was Micha. She is him in every way. The hair, the skin, the smile and the bright golden eyes. She is every bit her father’s daughter. Our eyes connected and we stood still, staring intently at each other. A lifetime could have passed in that moment and it would still not be enough. This is my child, my daughter. She is here and she is mine.
“Hello” she said softly, stepping forward and holding her hand out for me.
“I’m Zelena” she smiled. I could feel the tears threatening to fall down my face. Zelena. My Zelena. The name I gave to her, and she had it all this time. Nearly eighteen years apart, but still a part of me stayed with her. I pushed down the lump in my stomach and took a deep breath. Stepping forward I reached out my hand and wrapped my fingers around hers. Her eyes lit up and shone a bright yellow before they rolled to the back of her head. She expelled a quick harsh breath and her body dropped to the floor lifelessly.
