Mother of the Moon - Chapter 152 - Galterio
Zelena.
My stomach was in knots and I felt weak and nauseous. I ached all over. I groaned and rolled over on the bed, reaching for Gunner. I pressed my face into his chest and inhaled. I quickly flew upright and stared at the person I was just cuddling into. Galterio smirked back at me.
“I prefer to be the big spoon” he mused with a cheeky twitch of his lip. He sat on the bed with his back leaning against the headboard and his hands behind his head, his legs were laid out along the bed with his ankles crossed. I quickly looked down at myself and saw that I was now draped in a baggy white t-shirt. I flicked my eyes over the room we were in, confirming that we are alone in here.
“Where am I?” I snapped back at Galterio,
“Is that the welcome I get after rescuing you?” he teased, still smirking.
I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, hoping to ward off my headache. What the fuck happened? Gunner was angry, he was hurting me. I looked at my arms where Gunner had been holding me, staring back were large angry bruises and small cuts where his claws penetrated the skin. Then I remembered he bit me, I whipped my hand to my neck and felt a bandage on the place that he bit. He attacked me. Gunner. How could he do that to me? Tears began to fall from my eyes and my breathing quickened. He said he would never hurt me. He knows what I went through with Hank. Why would he do this to me? Broken sobs burst from within me and I felt like my heart was being ripped from my chest.
“It’s alright, you’re alright” Galterio said softy as he pulled me into his lap and forced my head to his chest.
“I got you Beauty, you’re okay” he said with a smooth tone while he brushed his hand over my head and hair. I slapped his hand away and pushed myself off of his lap. He looked hurt or angry at my rejection, but quickly brushed over it with a charming smile.
“What am I doing here Alpha Galterio? Where are we and why aren’t I healing?” I asked, letting him hear the anger in my voice.
“So many questions, can’t we just lay back down and cuddle?” he chuckled and tried to grab my hand,
“It’s not funny Alpha Galterio, where did you take me?” I growled lowly.
“Firstly, we’re family so it’s just Galterio to you. But if you play your cards right, I might even let you call me Gilly” he winked and blew me a kiss. I growled and flashed my teeth.
“Ugh you’re no fun. Fine! You’re here because your Mate nearly ripped your throat out and you needed my help. And here is my temporary residence” he answered with a slight frown.
“I had that handled, my pack could have helped me” I snapped. Galterio jumped to his feet and using his extreme speed, he dashed to the side of the bed that I was sitting on. He placed one hand on either side of my body and leaned forward, forcing me to lean back.
“The same pack that let their Alpha nearly kill you” he growled down at me,
“That wasn’t Gunner, something was wrong with him. And besides if you hadn’t have put your greasy hands all over me, he wouldn’t have been able to smell you and then he wouldn’t have got so angry” I growled back just as furiously. Galterio scoffed and stood up straight. I clutched at my stomach, any kind of movement hurts. He glared down at me as I winced.
“What’s wrong?” he asked. He tried to remain firm but the worry in is voice seeped through.
“My stomach hurts, I'm tired, I was kidnaped, and my Mate tried to hurt me. Take your pick” I groaned.
“I'll get you something to eat and drink” he mumbled before walking out the door. The lock clicked behind him and as much as it hurt me, I jumped to my feet and ran to the door. Locked. I thumped my back against the door and slid down to the floor. For the first time, I took a proper look around the room. It had soft white walls and the furnishings were pretty and modern. The bedspread was light grey with teal and there was a matching teal armchair in the corner by a window. A window. I jumped to my feet again and dashed to the window, pulling apart the curtains. Nothing. There was something blocking it from the outside. He has me locked up in here like a prisoner. I turned around feeling defeated and went back to the bed. As I sat down, a sharp pain burst through my stomach and I cried out from the unexpected feeling. I fell onto my side and clutched at my stomach. It felt like something inside me was trying to claw its way out.
“Zelena” Galterio called as he burst through the door. He placed a plate and bottle of water on the bedside table and came to my side. He grabbed my face between his large hands and turned it so that I was looking at him.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” he asked me urgently while searching my eyes,
“It’s my… my stomach” I strained to talk through the pain. Galterio grabbed the water and quickly opened the cap. He lifted me so that I sat leaning against his chest and pressed the bottle head to my lips.
“Drink” he said softly and I did as he asked. I took a large gulp and then another. The cool liquid slid down my throat and a chill ran through my chest. As I swallowed the water, I breathed in through my nose and caught the most mouth-watering scent. I pushed off Galterio’s chest and sat upright with my nose in the air. I sniffed and followed the smell to the plate sitting on the bedside table. I crawled over the bed and reached for the plate. Picking up the large steak in my fist, I shoved it into my mouth and took a very large bite. The tender meat rolled around inside my mouth and a low growl rumbled up from my chest. I took another large bite, the biggest I could manage and chewed slowly, letting the taste fill my mouth. I opened my eyes and saw Galterio standing beside the bed staring down at me with wide eyes. I must look like a total savage, a piece of meat in my hand and steak juice running down my chin. I immediately filled with shame and quickly looked away from him. I placed the steak back on the plate and swallowed the large chunk of meat in my mouth.
“I um… I’m sorry, I didn’t realise how hungry I was” I mumbled full of embarrassment. He didn’t respond, just stared at me with huge eyes and his mouth slightly open. I waited for him to speak but he didn’t, which only made me feel more embarrassed.
“Galterio?” I said softly. He shook his head, blink his eyes and cleared his throat. He looked uncomfortable and unsure. He shifted from foot to foot, not something I had noticed him do before. He always stood strong and still and full of confidence. Now he looked about ready to run away.
“Galterio?” I said again,
“Yes, sorry. No need to apologise. Do you feel better now?” he asked quirking one of his eyebrows,
“Yes, weirdly I do. I guess I was just hungry” I said with an awkward smile. Galterio picked up the plate and handed it back to me,
“Well, eat up then” he said with a smile. The smile didn’t reach his eyes though. He is a good actor and a smooth talker, but somehow, I can still see right through him. And right now, I see hidden intentions and dark excitement.
