Twin Moon - Chapter 248 - Vision

Zelena.

Who else was in the car with Gunner, I didn’t see anyone else. A loud gasp came from behind me. I turned around to see Lunaya on her knees and Alyse beside her. Lunaya had her hands over her mouth, holding in her sobs. Alyse knelt next to her with one arm over her shoulder and her hand over her mouth too. Smith stood with his mouth hanging open wide, next to Felix with a contemplative frown. Nat was pale and unmoving with wide eyes. What did I miss?
“Holy Mother” Roe exclaimed shocked. I whipped my head to her, and she was looking over at the SUV.
I stepped around Gunner to see what everyone was gawking at. I didn’t understand what I was looking at, not at first. It took a minute for the realization to hit me. And when it did, it was like a building had fallen on top of me. Holy shit. She stood just in front of the car, staring at me with the same kind of expression I imagine I was wearing. Her eyes were wide and her thick brows were lifted high on her forehead. Her mouth hung open and her pale skin looked basically translucent. Without paying attention to what I was doing, I walked forward. She too walked towards me. We both stopped not two steps away from each other. Her face was my face, her eyes were my eyes, her hair was my hair. She was me, in every way. I roamed my eyes down her body, taking note of the many dark pink scars that marred her skin. She has lived a brutal upbringing, just like I did. Goddess only knows what they did to her too. I wanted to say something, I wanted to cry, I wanted to smile. But I didn’t do any of those things. I just stared at her, and she at me.
“Is this real?” she said softly. Her voice was different to mine, more gravely and low,
“What are you?” she asked, her voice sounding more angry, panicked maybe. A warm hand snaked around my waist, sending delicious sparks shooting up my side.
“Whiskey, this is Zee, my Mate” Gunner’s voice spoke smoothly. Whiskey, why did he call her Whiskey? This is her, isn’t it? My twin, Aurora. Why would Gunner call her Whiskey. She flicked her golden-brown eyes up to Gunner, and a flash of something passed over them. I'm not sure what that was, confusion, sadness maybe. If anything, she looked hurt, but at what. Her gaze moved back down to me and it hardened. Her brows furrowed and she pressed her lips together hard.
“Is this some kind of fucking joke?” she snapped angrily, moving her eyes back to Gunner.
“I told you that you’d think I was crazy” he teased her. He seemed comfortable with her, and she with him. Just how long have they been together. I felt my cheeks grow hot and my stomach turn, jealousy flared through me. I don’t like that he was with someone else doing Goddess knows what, especially when that someone is my mirror image. But also, they have already built some kind of relationship between them. Gunner got to meet my sister before I did. Both ideas hurt me. Gunner squeezed my hip, pulling me closer against his side, and flashed me.
***Are you okay? ***
***Yes***
***I can still tell when you’re lying***
***I’m just overwhelmed***
“I want to leave now” Aurora snapped and looked around the driveway,
“What?” I blurted,
“Why?” Gunner asked just as quickly.
“Whatever this weird ass game is that you’re playing, I don’t want any part of it” she growled while looking frantically all around her. I slipped from Gunner’s arm and stepped towards her. I need to calm her down, convince her to stay. We have so much that we need to talk about. I want to know where she’s been, what she’s been through. I want to ask her about the prophecy and if she knew about me. I have to ask her about her life, if she has a Mate, a best friend. I need to know everything about her. I have so many questions. She can’t leave yet.
I placed my hand on hers, and fire burned through my skin. My head fell back, and I screamed out in pain. It was like my skin was being peeled away from my bones. My blood was boiling, cooking me from the inside out. I have never felt such agony. I lowered my chin and looked at Aurora. She looked back at me with bright red glowing eyes, the sight was terrifying. Her face was screwed up, like she too was in pain, but she was letting it in, she wasn’t fighting it. The burning sensation turned to shoots of electricity. Pins and needles stabbed against my skin, my hair stood up and a dark feeling filled my chest. Next thing I know, I’m being flown backwards through the air. I hit the ground hard, the back of my head slammed against the stone pavement, and I was out.
-
I opened my eyes and sat up slowly. I looked around me but wasn’t sure where I was. The last thing I remember was grabbing Aurora’s hand, then the extreme pain, like I was on fire. I'm not in pain now though. What's going on. It’s dark, and it’s freezing. I breathed in through my nose, sniffing hard. Blood, mold and rot. I think I'm in the dark room, the one I visited during one of my Drakos visions. I looked around for signs of the girl, the one that spoke to me, but it was too dark to see. I took another deep inhale, but I couldn’t pick up on her scent. I don’t know if the odor is too strong, or perhaps she just isn’t here. There are no windows or any other source of light, I can barely make out anything. A few odd shapes, but nothing clear enough to make sense of. I stood up and walked to the wall and used it to guide me around the room. The smell was rancid, like something had died, or was dying. My bare toes were frozen and hurting from the cold. I wrapped my arms around my body to keep warm. That was when I heard it. A soft murmur in the other corner of the frigid room. I walked over to where the sound came from and looked down at the floor. I forced my eyes to focus, drawing on my wolf for help. There, I could see it, a thin dirty mattress on the floor. Laying on top of it is me, only it isn’t me. I know now that this has to be Aurora. She’s young, maybe nine or ten years old. Her clothes are torn and stained brown, her ribs are clearly protruding through them, as are her hips, and spine. I looked over her sleeping face, she’s been freshly beaten. There was a deep cut on her lip, another on her chin, and her left eye looked swollen and raw. I don’t need to ask what has happened to her. If it is anything like the way it was with the man that I grew up with, I know too well what she has endured. This must be another Drakos vision.
