The Moon's Descendant - Chapter 64 - An announcement
Gunner.
I lay in bed staring at the dimly lit ceiling. The light from the bathroom was enough to illuminate the room. Zelena was resting her head on my chest, quietly humming while tracing circles across my bare stomach. I tickled my fingers up and down her naked back, her skin is so soft and smooth. I could lay with her like this all night. She is everything I could have hoped for in a Mate and a Luna.
“Zelena” I spoke softly.
“Oh no, you're using my full name” she said nervously.
“I need to tell you something” I said perching myself up on my elbow,
“Okay” she said slowly angling herself up, putting her chin in her hands and looking at me.
“While you were resting, I met with the pack council. My dad, and the commanders…”
“Commanders?” she interrupted,
“Yeh they’re the leaders of the pack fighters, kind of like the generals of an army. Anyway. With everything your dad, I mean Hank. Everything that he told us about the other hunters, well we had to prepare”
“Prepare for what?”
“Well, to prepare for battle. The hunters that are coming, are coming to kill, not just to talk”
“You don’t know that” she squeaked. I gave her an ‘are you serious’ kind of look and she nodded in agreement.
“Well I had to tell the commanders why the hunters were coming. I had to tell them about your lineage and your new status”
“You mean about me being this Triple Goddess?”
“Yes”
“Oh” she looked off out the dark window for a few minutes. I could smell a small amount of anxiety from her, but it quickly disappeared. She turned back to me with a smile.
“Well they were going to find out sooner or later and I suppose now that I have pretty good control of myself, now is a good a time as any” she tried to sound confident but her voice cracked a little mid-sentence.
“I’m glad to hear that, because there’s more” I said with an awkward smile.
“Oh, god. What is it?”
“Well…” I paused trying to figure out the best way to word this without freaking her out.
“Well once I told them about you, I told them about our True Mate bond as well”
“Mhm” she hummed,
“After they were all caught up and they realised the gravity of what I was telling them”
“Ha, gravity” she giggled. I flicked her nose and continued,
“They kind of initiated my ascension”
“Ascension to what?” she tilted her head to the side.
“To Alpha”.
Zee flew up on the bed now sitting on her knees and staring at me wide eyed. I was distracted by her nakedness and her perfect perky breast staring right at me.
“Alpha” she said snapping me back to reality.
“You’re the Alpha now?” she asked urgently.
“Yes. It wasn’t supposed to happen this soon and it usually happens during a special ceremony in front of the whole pack”
“You’re the Alpha” she said again, like she was trying to convince herself.
“Yes, little wolf, and you’re the Luna” I sat up right and cupped her cheek in my hand.
“No I’m not, your mum is the Luna”
“She was, but the moment I became Alpha, you became Luna”
“Holy shit” she slumped back and kicked her legs out from under her.
“One more thing” I said sheepishly.
“Fuck, what more could there be?” she huffed.
“I’ve called the pack to meet in front of the house at first light. We are going to announce our ascension to Alpha and Luna, and the incoming threat from the hunters”
“Oh, the hunters” she said putting hand on her cheeks with a terrified look in her eyes.
“You’re the Alpha now and I’m the Luna. We have to protect the pack, it’s our duty now, our responsibility. Gunner, what are we going to do?” she spoke quickly as her panic started to rise and she started getting flustered in her own thoughts. I pulled her close to me, grabbing her face and kissing her forehead.
“Calm down, everything will be ok. I’ll tell you the plan” I said smoothly, gently rubbing my thumb on her cheek.

Zelena and I sat at the breakfast nook with Nat, Mum and Dad were standing at the kitchen counter. Clearly all of us were feeling a little anxious about this morning’s announcement. The sun was not far from rising and already I could hear members of the pack starting to gather outside.
“Are you ready for this?” I asked Zee giving her hand a squeeze.
“Sure am” she smiled. She looked every bit the Luna this morning. Wearing a dark purple dress that flowed to her knees, clinging to her body in all the right places. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and Nat helped her put some makeup on. She looks absolutely stunning, beautiful and mature with a glow about her.
Mum took the news pretty well. She only cried and cooed over me for about five minutes, I was expecting it to be more like twenty or so. Nat was pretty chill about it as well, she was more excited about her new sisters’ powers than anything else. Zee floated a few things around her head to calm her down and to show off a little. I don’t mind it though, I will never tire of seeing Zee’s powers.

“Cole and Spartan are outside” I said looking at Dad, he nodded.
“Smith is here now too” Nat said standing up from the table.
“Alrighty then” Mum said before giving Dad a kiss on the cheek. I stood up and offered my hand to Zelena.
“Let’s do this” I said smiling down at her. She grabbed my hand and we walked out of the kitchen to the front door with the rest of the family following behind. I squeezed Zee’s hand and pulled open the door. The sky was still a little dark but the early morning sun was slowly starting to lighten things up. I nodded to Cole and Spartan as we walked to the porch railing. Mum and Dad stood on Zee’s left and Cole stood to my right. Smith walked up the stairs and kissed Nat on the cheek before standing beside Cole.
“Good morning Tri-Moon pack, thank you for coming out so early to meet us” Dad’s voice bellowed across the village clearing. The crowd of faces all looked at him with respect and adoration. He was a brilliant Alpha, and the pack has a lot of respect for him. I can only hope that I live up to his reputation.
“There are a few things we need to address here today. First and foremost, I’m sure you all felt the power shift in the atmosphere late last night. Well, during an emergency meeting with the pack council, your Alpha-Son Gunner, ascended to his new position as Alpha of the Tri-Moon pack”
Soft murmurs and gasps broke out throughout the crowd. My gaze landed on some of my friends who were all beaming with excitement, but I couldn’t help but noticed the few disappointed and confused faces as they whispered to each other.
“We understand that this momentous occasion usually happens with a ceremony that includes you all, however this is a rare and special occasion. Please welcome your new Alpha to continue this morning’s announcement” Dad stepped back slowly with his arm out to me, signalling for me to step forward. I gulped down the breath that was caught in my throat and stepped up, putting one hand on the railing and the other on my chest.
“I swear to honour, protect and serve you as your Alpha, until my last moon has shone” I bowed my head to the pack and then stood up straight. In unison the crowd all got down on their knees, bowed their heads and chanted,
“For the Alpha”.
Their acceptance sent a wave of energy flowing through me. I again felt the warm prickling of my skin and a new connection to each of them. I blew out the breath that I was holding in. feeling somewhat relieved that they accepted me without a fuss.
“Thank you, my brothers and sisters, I will do my best to not let you down. However, this is just one small part of our announcement this morning. As many of you already know, the beautiful Were to my left is my new mate, Zelena. What you do not know, is that your new Luna and I are not chosen Mates. We have instead been blessed by the Goddess with a True Mate bond”.
The crowd was silent for moment. Looking around at each other before back to Zelena and me. A small cheer broke out and quickly the whole pack was shouting and cheering along, screaming their praise and congratulations to us. I looked at Zelena and her face was overtaken by a smile so bright and happy that it could infect anyone that saw it. They accepted our bond and accepted her as their Luna. I smiled out at my pack, filled with joy and pride. They love her already. Well, that didn’t take a lot of convincing, thankfully.
“Thank you, thank you” I raised my arms to settle them down, after a minute they were quiet again.
“Your new Luna here, is not just my blessing, but she is yours as well. Zelena hales from an old pack in Alaska. Unfortunately that pack was wiped out many years ago, however her lineage still holds great significance and importance to the Were community. Her earliest ancestor is Selena, the first chosen daughter of the Moon Goddess”.
Shocked gasps and hushed profanities came from the pack.
“Now I understand that this may be a shock, as it was rumoured that the line of Selena was abolished long ago. Some of you may choose to not believe. However, it has been confirmed and tested over the past few days that Zelena, your Luna, bares the mark of the Moon Goddess and is the new chosen daughter”.
