Twin Moon - Chapter 274 - The Other Me

Zelena.

“Privet, tebe ne nuzhno boyat'sya” (Hello, you don’t need to be afraid) Roe said gently as she knelt on the ground in front of the mumbling man. He snapped his head to Roe when she spoke, seeming somewhat surprised to hear her speak to him in his language.
“Besomar, eto Besomar” he stuttered out while quickly flicking his eyes up to me.
“Eta devushka?” (This girl?) Roe pointed up at me without turning away from the man. He nodded his head furiously.
“What is Besomar, why does he keep saying that?” Gunner grumbled annoyed,
“Besomar is from a Russian folk tale, it’s like a demon” Roe said over her shoulder to Gunner. A demon, is he saying he thinks I'm a demon? I knelt down beside Roe and smiled sweetly at the man.
“Derzhis' podal'she ubiytsa!” (Stay away murderer) he screamed and kicked out with his leg. He caught my knee with his foot, which made me lose my balance and fall on my backside. Gunner growled and launched forward, but Doyle was faster and reefed the man away. He held his whole body off the ground and in the air in front of his face. Doyle’s face had morphed back into the half-wolf again, and he roared ferociously at the terrified man.
“Stop, stop it” Roe yelled and tried to pry Doyle’s hand from around the man’s neck,
“He’s just scared and confused, stop!” she yelled angrily. Doyle seemed amused by her anger, but that amusement faded when Lupus changed back into his human form and stormed through the small crowd. He pulled Roe away from Doyle and growled, to which Doyle dropped the man and growled back. This of course got everyone else fired up too. Doyle’s wolves were growling and barking, while our pack fighters were doing the same. All of them were moving in closer, constricting what little space we had left between us.
“Enough!” I screamed and jumped to my feet. I easily captured all of their attention. Just like how Gunner’s did, my voice held an aura or power and heaviness, making it impossible for any of them to ignore it. I stepped between them all and held my hands out. Summoning my power, I let the heaviness fill my body and then pushed them all apart. Doyle seemed surprised at the invisible forcefield forcing him back, my pack of course knew what was happening and began moving back on their own.
“Roe, will you please take this man away and speak with him privately. Find out who he is, where he came from and what he knows about the attacks” I demanded with a hard and echoed voice. It came out as an order, not a request. I didn’t even know I could do that, it was like I used an Alpha command, but I’m not an Alpha. Roe nodded and immediately got the man to follow her towards a cabin at the back of the village. Lupus and two other pack fighters followed after them, along with two of Doyle’s men.
“Alpha Doyle, we appreciate you bringing this man to us, however, if you continue to show aggression you will be swiftly dealt with” I warned him. He growled lowly and tried to step forward, but I hadn’t dropped the wall holding them back. His threatening action made me fill with anger, though it wasn’t just mine, I could feel both Gunner and Tobias’s anger roll through me also. I twisted my hand and curled my power around his body. His whole body jerked and straightened as I squeezed my fingers, in turn increasing the pressure around his body. He struggled against the force and panic filled his eyes. His packmates looked on in confusion and fear as he seemingly struggled against nothing. Doyle growled and fought to free himself, but he obviously doesn’t know how pointless that is. I heard Gunner chuckle as he stepped up behind me, his hand came to rest softly on my lower back.
“You’re not the scariest wolf around here, Alpha Doyle, you’d do good to remember that” Gunner said mischievously. He leant down and pressed his lips to my cheek,
“Let him go sweetheart” he whispered before standing up again. I stayed put, glaring at Doyle the entire time.
“Don’t test me again” I warned. Doyle frowned and tried to restrain the snarl from slipping past his lips.
“I apologise, my Goddess” he grunted out painfully. I squeezed tightly once more before dropping my hold. His whole body fell forward as he heaved in a lung full of air.
“And I thought the other you was the nasty one” he huffed and rubbed at his chest.
“The other me?” I questioned harshly,
“Yeah, the one from the forest with this guy” he nodded at Gunner,
“I’m not stupid, you’re not the same she-wolf" he grunted.
“Whiskey?” I asked Gunner, and he responded with one nod. I turned back to Doyle and growled. Not because I was mad, but because I was surprisingly consumed by jealousy.
“I suggest you try not to test that theory while you are on our pack lands, Alpha. I've been known to lose my temper on people that threaten the ones I love” I snarled down at the Alpha on his knees.
“So I've heard” Doyle replied teasingly. He looked up at me with a smirk, but once our eyes met, he dropped the cocky look on his face. I guess I was showing more resting bitch face than I thought I was. His face blanked and his skin appeared to pale.
“Of course, my Goddess, it won’t happen again” he pledged with a bow of his head. If I'm being honest, I expected much more of a fight from Alpha Doyle, he doesn’t seem like the type to back down to anyone willingly.
“Head inside love, I'll get Mum to meet us in my office when she’s done” Gunner said as he pushed a loose tendril of hair behind my ear. I looked over at the group of uninvited Weres before nodding in agreement. I wanted to check on the twins anyway. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine, subtly flicking his tongue against my bottom lip before standing up straight again.
“I’ll let you know when we’re on the way” he said quickly. He turned to the assembly behind us, snapped his fingers in the air and waved a hand at the group of intruders. The pack fighters converged on the visiting Weres, rounding them into a small circle and ushering them towards the edge of the village. I’ll leave Gunner to it, he doesn’t need my help. As I whirled around quickly, Tobias was still standing right behind me, making me smack my face into his big furry chest. I gripped hold of the long fur to steady my balance. The aura emanating from him was undeniable. I twirled my fingers through the soft thick fur as I looked over his furious gaze.
“What’s up?” I asked him,
***I don’t like this, they shouldn’t be here***
“I can tell, but why though?”
***It’s not right what he does, what his pack does***
“You know him then? Doyle and his pack?”
***Everyone knows them***
“Well, I don’t"
***You will***
“That’s awfully cryptic of you, Mighty Guardian” I teased and pulled on his fur. He huffed and nudged me with his giant head.
***Come***
Tobias ordered and pushed me towards the house with his nose. I know better than to argue with Tobias, especially when he’s in a mood, and there is definitely something eating at him.
