Twin Moon - Chapter 265 - Secrets and Lies
Whiskey.
“If you have something to say” I said loudly, interrupting their whispered conversation. Roe turned around with a smile plastered on her face.
“No, sweet girl, nothing that can’t wait another day or two” she said sweetly. She is lying, I can smell it on her. On instinct, I growled. I had no intention of attacking right now, not unless they did first, I still have to plan it out. But the growl prompted the protectiveness of Lupus. Like a thundering giant, he placed himself between me and the two women, and growled down at me threateningly. Somehow, he managed to make himself look three times larger than he did before. I have only seen this man when he was smiling or joking. This side of him however, is impressive. The extended fangs, the angry eyes, the tense muscles, the aura of power he was exuding. There is no argument, he is dangerous. I've still taken down bigger animals though.
“You are a guest in my home, you will show respect to my Mate while you are under this roof” he bellowed, the sound echoed around the kitchen, bouncing off the walls. Roe placed her hand on his chest, and it was like he deflated. All the anger and tension left the room and he looked down at her gently.
“If you’ll all excuse me, I'm going to check on the t... I'm going upstairs” Roe said before kissing Lupus on the cheek and leaving the room. Lupus glared back at me before he sat back down on his stool.
“Well, out with it then” I blurted annoyed. I glared at Lunaya who still looked angry, but now also sorrowful. She pulled her hand from the small woman's grip, who reluctantly let go after a slight fight. She stepped closer to me and huffed out a harsh breath.
“Do you remember your parents?” she asked me gently. What on earth does that have to do with anything. If I had parents, what would it matter to her if I remembered them or not.
“Your mother or your father, what do you know about them?” she asked again.
“None of your fucking business” I snapped harshly. My mind went immediately to the man from my dreams, the same man that I saw with the babies and Lunaya during my ghost walk thing. That wasn’t real though, none of it was real. He isn’t real, I don’t have parents.
“So, you do remember something” she said with a slight excitement to her voice as she studied my pensive face. I lifted my eyes back to hers and shook the thoughts of the man from my mind.
“I don’t have parents” I growled through clenched teeth. She looked at me, not saying anything back. Her intrusion into my private life was infuriating, and I was panting hard, trying to control my anger. I could feel the power coursing through me, looking for a weak point to slip through. I would love nothing more than to drain the air from this woman, along with her life. But not yet, I can’t start my attack until I have a better understanding of my surroundings and the pack numbers.
“You do have parents, everyone has parents” Lunaya’s soft voice finally said. This damn woman is dancing on my last nerve. She dares to talk to me like she knows me. She knows nothing. I have no mother, no father. I was created in a lab. Made to bring death to the savage beasts that roam the Earth. I am death incarnate.
“No” I growled lowly. I pressed my claws into the palms of my hands, letting the pain bring me back down before I exploded completely.
“No what? Whiskey, what do you remember about them?” the small woman asked from behind Lunaya,
“Drop it” I grunted. My resolve was weakening, the power was getting stronger inside me, pushing at the constraints.
“You’re safe here, you can talk to us” Lunaya said softly and stepped towards me again. That was the breaking point. I felt the power slip through and whirl around me. The wind slapped at my skin as it blew through the kitchen. It knocked the plates from the tables, and rattled the pans hanging from the overhead hanger.
“What is this?” I heard Lupus’s mighty voice call through the bellowing of the wind.
“It’s her” Lunaya yelled back without hesitation. How could she have known it was me causing the whirlwind? She didn’t even need to think about it, it was like she already knew. But how?
I managed to rein it back in. Taking a deep breath, I was able to pull the air back into my body. The wind disappeared and the kitchen was once again deadly silent. I glared up at the three waiting and astonished gazes. Lupus was now standing between the small woman and Lunaya, his arms out, trying to keep them behind him. Lunaya was looking at me with wide and gleeful eyes. That sort of display would scare most people, why not her. If anything, she looked thrilled. The kitchen was a mess, though I have caused worse damage, this was actually very minor. Lunaya and the small woman, I must find out her name, both of their hair was in shambles.
“You have a gift” Lunaya said excitedly as she pushed past Lupus’s arm.
“What?” I snapped at her. How is she still smiling and happy, I just about blew her through the wall, yet she’s still smiling at me.
“I mean, of course you have a gift, just like your sister, you’re incredible” she fawned proudly. Did she just say sister? I don’t have a sister, what is she on about now.
“She is a Goddess too?” Lupus asked urgently from over Lunaya’s shoulder. I almost burst out laughing right then and there. Did he seriously just ask if I was a Goddess, are all Canadian Weres this crazy?
“Excuse me?” I chortled, trying to hold back my laughter. This whole situation is laughable. How did I get to this point. There’s a girl that looks just like me, a woman I saw in my dreams who seems to think she knows me. Then there are all these other random people that I have never met, all which are looking at me and watching me expectedly, like they know what I'm going to do next. This whole thing is just bizarre. Not to mention all the weird shit that keep spurting out, that is a whole other nation of weird.
“Don’t you see it? Your power, you finding your way here, it’s all already been ordained. This was all part of a larger plan. Her plan” Lunaya says quickly,
“Who’s plan?” I asked. Not that I really care, but I am slightly curious.
“Selene, of course. The Moon Goddess has it all planned out” Lunaya answered instantly. My anger spiked at hearing the name, the name I had to hear over and over again as I was being tortured. The name of the mystic being responsible for my creation. The fucking Moon Goddess. I curled my lip back and snarled.
“You’re fucking nuts, you know that right? I’m not part of this weird ass fantasy you have cooked up in that coo-coo mind of yours” I spat,
“Oh, you very much are, that’s why you’re here, with me, with Zelena” she said looking at me with a gentle smile, a maternal like smile, it was unnerving.
The small woman came to Lunaya’s side and took her hand. Lupus too stepped closer. The three of them all looking at me, waiting for me to speak, or to come to some sort of bright realisation. But, I'm not here for them. Well, in a way I am. I'm here to kill them. But I came here for Gunner, to find out how he got his power. I don’t give two flying shits about Lunaya, Zee or any other the rest of them. Why would I. Lunaya stepped closer again and smiled invitingly, she reached her hand out for me to take. I think she may have lost her mind, especially if she thinks I'm going to hold her damn hand. I scoffed at her hand and snarled up at her as she spoke.
“You see my darling, I’m your birth mother”.
