Chapter 1539 Control
Sadie hung up the phone, her eyes sparkling with joy. She was now more certain than ever that the supply clerk was Riley.
Maybe it was Riley who saved Micah that night. Unable to take him far, they must have hidden out at the restaurant down the mountain.
As long as Riley was around, Micah's life would be safe.
The thought of Micah being alive filled Sadie with excitement.
Just then, Chloe called to update her. "Ms. James, everything's ready on our end. Ryan's already here. When are you coming? I'll meet you downstairs."
"Ryan's here already?" Sadie glanced at the clock. It wasn't even eight yet.
"Yeah, he was worried about today's meeting, so he came early to oversee things," Chloe said softly. "I heard the board members are on their way too. They should all be here early."
"Alright, got it." Sadie put down her utensils. "I'll get ready and head over."
"Okay, I'll be downstairs to meet you."
Sadie hung up and immediately went to find "Micah."
"Micah" was still lying in bed, looking utterly miserable, staring blankly at the ceiling.
"Get dressed. We're going to the office," Sadie urged. "You have ten minutes. I'll be waiting downstairs."
"I'm in pain. I can't move."
"Micah" closed his eyes, refusing to budge.
It was clear he resented the treatment, even if he was forced to comply. He was still defiant and unwilling to give in.
"Fine." Sadie didn't waste any more words. She opened the door and ordered, "Get a wheelchair and bring Micah out."
"Yes, Ms. James."
The bodyguards sprang into action. Two went to get a wheelchair, while the other two moved to lift "Micah."
"What are you doing? Don't touch me!"
"Micah" struggled angrily. "Sadie, you're going too far!"
"Too far?" Sadie sneered. "This is the Clemens family business. It's your responsibility. The company has issues, and you leave everything to me. Now you say I'm going too far?"
Her words left Micah speechless.
He choked up and changed his tone. "I'm in pain from the treatment. I just wanted to rest a bit."
"Ryan is seventy-nine years old and he's already at the office. You're telling me you're in pain? You're the only one in pain, and everyone else has it easy? The whole company is waiting for you, and you want to rest?"
"Alright, alright, stop talking."
"Micah" raised his hands in surrender. "I'll get up and get dressed right now. I'll go to the office with you, okay?"
"Don't make it sound like I'm forcing you."
"No, you're definitely not forcing me."
"Micah" took a deep breath and said seriously, "I'm doing this willingly. No, it's my duty. I urgently, desperately want to go to the office!"
"That's more like it."
Sadie made a gesture, and the attendants quickly left the room.
"I'll be waiting downstairs. Ten minutes!"
Sadie gave him a long look before turning and leaving the room, closing the door behind her.
"Micah" stared at the closed door, gritting his teeth. "Any perfect woman, once she becomes your wife, turns into a terrifying demon!"
He meant every word.
At that moment, the fake "Micah" found himself feeling a bit of sympathy for the real Micah.
Sadie changed her shoes and sat in the first-floor lobby, sipping coffee and watching the time, waiting for "Micah" to come down.
One minute passed.
Two minutes passed.
Three minutes passed.
At the last minute, "Micah" came down right on time, dressed in a black suit that made him look even more imposing, though his brows were slightly furrowed with a hint of worry.
