Chapter 1580 Sister-in-law
Sadie thought she saw a figure dart across the roof of the villa. It was just a glimpse, but she was sure it was Riley!
She'd heard so many rumors about her future sister-in-law, and now, for the first time, she was seeing her in person.
Even though it was just a fleeting shadow, Sadie felt a surge of excitement.
This confirmed her suspicion—Riley was indeed hiding at Half Mountain Villa.
But whether she was there to treat Micah still needed further verification.
Riley had disappeared almost the instant Sadie turned around, but she felt like she had been spotted.
Luckily, it was just Sadie.
Riley had heard about Sadie too. It seemed she was much smarter than Riley had anticipated.
Outside, the commotion continued. Riley was debating whether to intervene when she heard the sound of cars approaching.
She listened carefully—it was the police.
They announced they were there to investigate the fire, and that Half Mountain Villa was still under lockdown. No one was allowed in without police permission.
The new bodyguards from the Clemens Family tried to argue but were forcibly removed.
Hearing the noise outside, Riley knew things were under control.
She didn't show herself, instead having the Green snake on her wrist signal the "friends" to disperse.
Then she quickly headed towards the small building in the backyard.
Outside, Sadie waited until the police had completely cleared the area before she breathed a sigh of relief.
Otto took advantage of the moment when others were getting into their cars to quietly say to her, "Mrs. Clemens, Rylan can't show himself directly, so he called in the police for assistance. Things are stable for now. Take care."
"Got it," Sadie replied, gesturing for him to move quickly.
Otto hurried to follow her.
Watching the police escort the Clemens Family's convoy away, Sadie finally relaxed.
She turned to look at the tightly locked gates of Half Mountain Villa, her brow furrowing deeply.
Now that Riley had been alerted, would she try to escape again?
"Why did those people suddenly come to Half Mountain Villa?" Arya asked, puzzled. "After the last fire, all the important stuff was moved to Silas's place. What could be left that's so important?"
"Maybe they found something," Sadie glanced back. "Alright, you guys go ahead."
"What?" Arya was stunned. "What about you?"
"I'm going in to take a look. Wait for me at the intersection," Sadie instructed.
"Yes, Ms. James." Although Arya didn't understand why, she followed orders and led the others away.
Once the sound of the cars faded, Sadie climbed over the side wall.
As she landed, she nearly stepped on a snake. Fortunately, she reacted quickly and avoided it just in time, or it would have bitten her ankle.
Sadie carefully searched the yard for any sign of Riley, but the large courtyard was empty, and the villa doors were locked.
Knowing Riley's eccentric nature, Sadie didn't want to alarm her and continued her search cautiously.
She realized just how big Half Mountain Villa was—it took her half an hour just to search the yard.
Riley was truly elusive. There were no traces left behind, not even footprints.
Sadie had no idea where she was hiding until she caught a faint whiff of medicine coming from the backyard. She quickly followed the scent.
Sure enough, she found some cooking utensils and medicinal residue near the small building.
Excited, Sadie hurried towards the small building.
To avoid offending Riley, she stopped outside the door and called out softly, "Riley!"
There was no response.
Sadie called again, "Riley, it's Sadie. Everyone outside has left. I want to talk to you."
